  1. Haven't entered the Comrades yet but will try to. Next challenge for me is the Addo 100 Miler (160km). Offroad trailrun. Basically Comrades x2 in terms of distance, and offroad. Think Comrades a few months later will feel like a breeze in comparison.
  2. Have also tried a few. Even a very light set of XPedos. Wore out in less than a year. Currently riding a set of XTR's that I bought over 10 years ago, almost zero play.

  4. Very close to a Wellgo M250 http://www.orcamart.com/products/wellgo/m250/red3.jpg
  5. CP5, at Komdomo. There was a tent with a table in with a mountain of food. Cokes and Sprites so think it was for the spectators to buy.
  6. No.8 done and dusted. Could have gone better. Flu for 3 weeks leading up to the race with ZERO time in the saddle. Just phlegm and snot, even in the days up to the race. Woke up with sore throat but lined up on the start. Finished just on 14 hours, a few hours slower than previous best time but with only 3 light indoor sessions 3 days before the race, it was always going to be tough. Enjoyed it though, 2 more and my 2nd 5 year shield is done
  7. So your hardest gear would be a 40x11 ? Possibly 10 if you get a XXD driver on there. Not very big gear, is it? Lets see Andrei Greipel break his legs off trying to get that up to sprint speed.
  8. I might be missing the points of this. I've been riding tubeless for about 10 years now, if not mistaken. I can probably count on my two hands the amount of punctures I've had during that time, that the sealant couldn't sort out. I use non-UST tyres as well, that have less protection and still only so many flats. I think out of those 10 flats max, only about 3-4 wouldn't seal and required a tube. And as a semi-weight weenie, 200g per wheel isn't for me.
  9. Not sure they can keep hanging the "Stumpjumper FSR" label on it... I mean the bike is miles, miles different from the original. Give it a new name?
  10. Shock, horror. You saying some big brands also just resell Chinese blanks and then slap stickers on and a 300% markup? Nooooo.

  13. 100% resembles the very popular chinese carbon dual frame.
  14. Which Garmin?
  15. In 2004 the race had 9 different locations. You started at Point A, rode to Point B and slept, departed B and rode to C, etc etc. 9 stop-over/finish locations. In the last few years you start at A, ride a circular route back to A. Sleep and depart from A and ride to B. Sleep at B. Next morning ride a circular route back to B and sleep there again, etc etc. 5 stop-over/finish locations. Am I missing something. The first year the entry fee was like R10500 or so for a team, and logistics in setting up 9 locations must have been hectic. Enter 2015, Entry fee R65000 odd, and they have to prepare only 5 locations for riders. Inflation? Only the organiser's pockets maybe.
  16. Don't give a sjit about the bragging rights or feelgood vibe doing the epic apparently gives you, because thats why people enter if they were honest. That is stupid money. I wont even race it if someone else pays just out of respect for their money. No race it worth that kind of cash.
  17. Big talk from a guy who's ankle is in a cast and who hasn't ridden offroad in...3 years?
  18. Slight difference is I had to pay for mine :-)
  19. They should bring out a 29x2.0 version, and I might buy some. But only after this stash is finished.
  20. http://www.gameplanmedia.co.za/mtb/2013E6JaroslavKulhavy.jpg Out of fashion you say? I remember those, used to use them. They did provide for more airflow through your nose. When you take it off it feels like you are suffocating.

  22. You do realize, of course, that those probably aren't really Mavic Cosmics, right?
  23. Pack your clothes and the rest of what is needed out the night before. Mix bottles and put on bike previous night. I find your save at least 15 minutes in the morning not having to look for shirts and bibs and what not. In turn, you can wake up 15 minutes later. I'm up at 4am and out the door at about 4:20.
  24. Stolen bike, that's been partially stripped for parts. The pics are clearly taken in a township somewhere.
