  1. Cool, so maybe meerendal to warm up then head over to conters to play. If I'm going to come all the way for one, may as well make a day of it. Any of the others worth doing? The don't get mentioned much...
  2. 2 places I need to visit properly. Are they the pick out of the tygerberg trails?
  3. I can't currently deal with a 2.4 front and 2.2 rear on a 29er. This would have me rocking in the corner...
  4. yeah, that looks like a great event. Also crashed out pretty bad on this race last year, so determined to conquer it! dates currently clash with a work trip though... dammit - see what happens!
  5. Anyone know of some good duathlons in the Western Cape? Like the dirty double in August (last year's thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/140512-event-the-asics-dirty-double-solo-or-team-trailrun-mtb/)
  6. Hmm, that looks interesting!
  7. Finally went to Jonkers to see the post-fire damage.... (panorama shot on phone) Edit: Not sure why it has gone dark on here...

    Cricket......

    Goodbye England!

    Cricket......

That run out... So unlucky. England being terrible at sports they invent.
  10. Depends on the seed bank.. Alien species may be a problem but too early to tell. Acacias etc. can throw down enormous amounts of seed and are faster to regenerate than lots of natives. But yeah, lots of speculation about it, see in a few months.
  11. Damn nice bikes! Those FLOW decals on the patrol's rims also look awesome, should replace my current ones with that design.
  12. Great picture, it is damn nice up there. Have to get a 2015 pass still.

    Cricket......

290 according to TV just now. 250 something in WC.
  14. And it balances out your 1x setup
  15. Yep, but if you have SRAM shifters or brakes you can mount it underneath them on the other side! I've got a right side lever mounted under my left side brake, its very neat and out of way
  16. R2500?! They look OK but thats wayyy expensive.
  17. Even though its illegal building, who would really stop a few guys heading up to do some work? I'll take some photos later in the week of some of the places I think could be repaired. But yes, the 2 main lines in the forest are still great, just some of the structures are worn down..
  18. Yeah, I love riding the forest and then along the top section above gspot, back down to coetzenberg side past horses etc. I remember some old jumps and dips etc on the bottom left hand corner of Eden (standing at main gate that side looking up at mountain). Would be interested in resurrecting that route. Is that part of DH track? Kinda just fades into overgrowth now
  19. *bump* Situation still the same as in 2012? Would be keen to help out fixing some of these up a bit,
  20. Having recently got into trail running, I've constantly got blisters on ends of my 2 long toes. Any advice, or just keep going and work on the calluses?
  21. Meanwhile, in Australia:
  22. I don't know if this is correct, but for climbs I put my toes in line with the front of the pedal, figures it gives me extra leverage through pedal stroke?) For descents I put my feet more squarely on the pedals, for stability. But really its more of a comfort thing..
  23. Free riders + saints here. Great combo. When they were shiny new was even wearing them to work "breaking them in". Super comfy.
  24. I got mine online, on sale at CRC. Got 20% tax on arrival, but worked out cheaper than buying here still AND got better choice in colours They seem to be expensive locally, but they're a good investment. City Rock have online store, but no 5-10s currently available: https://www.mountainmailorder.co.za/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=283
  25. Well I guess if they just drive everywhere they will stay wider than the rider
