  1. Oh yeah, sorry about the magpies and possums over there Magpies are sooo annoying this time of year... only a few more weeks to go though!
  2. Its like a Range fell out of a tree and hit every branch on the way down. Were the Norco dudes drunk that day?
  3. NZ is definitely safer in summer. Less fires and no snakes We've got plenty more sheep in Aus, but in NZ I think you get more per person http://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/agribusiness/sheep/the-ratio-of-person-to-sheep-in-new-zealand-has-dropped/news-story/1a6dbd5575198cb0e70ccb5c2b857f22 South Africans have been saying it for years!
  4. http://14761-presscdn-0-15.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/FOCUS-JAM-C-FACTORY.jpg There, I fixed it. Now that will be € 4999
  5. Merida has a new One Sixty 5000 coming out http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Merida-One-Sixty-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4324.jpg http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Merida-One-Sixty-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4343-1.jpg But this new Range is http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Norco-Range-2017Advance-Traders-MY17-4260.jpg And its just the Alu version...
  6. Yep, its a ridiculous amount of strife we put on South Africans for coming here, where NZ is much more chill about it. Going through it all with my SA partner now, but we're almost there (and for permanent residence visa). I'm starting to suggest to South African friends planning the Aus move to really consider NZ now, get your citizenship there and then decide. So, apologies for the Australian visa and migration system - it reflects badly on us. Or maybe its a good example of the difference between Aussies and Kiwis!
  7. I also gave up on my RS reverb after a couple of rebuilds and gone back to normal seat post... Have a KS on my other bike, its OK but its still new so will see how it goes.
  8. I'm still waiting for my delivery of skills that was meant to come with my Process.
  9. 100th Frame from BTR – 26 inch wheels live! http://singletrackworld.com/2016/07/100th-frame-from-btr-26-inch-wheels-live/ http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2016/07/BTR_Ranger_100_1.jpg http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2016/07/BTR_Ranger_100_6.jpg Dunno if it meets the long travel part - but certainly interesting!
  10. yeah was watching all the rumours of this one unfold with great interest! The whole dropping 29er Remedys makes complete sense now!
  11. New Process 153 DL http://www.konaworld.com/images/bike/med/process_153_dl.jpg
  12. New Slash. http://flowmountainbike.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/SLorencePhoto_Slash99_001.jpg
  13. Led Zep
  14. Isn't it more reminiscent of how SA gets stooged by Apple? They deliberately set the prices higher to account for a more volatile currency, so there is a considerable buffer between the SA price and USA, should the ZAR (or other market) ever gain. More going on that direct exchange rate I think. Other places get direct exchange with USA and EUR on YT prices, for example. I don't really know though, just speculating.
  15. Its pretty impossible to ride lots of different types of these bikes since they are either direct order, or shops hesitant to keep one on floor. And as there really aren't many bad bikes at this price point, I guess a lot of us do go by looks to narrow down choices.
  16. Big of gravel grinding in a national park. Sun was out, but there was snow just above us and the few creeks we had to ride through were frozen on the banks.
  17. The 29er Remedys got dropped for this year, but there is speculation that a 29er Slash will replace them. I've got my eyes on the top Alu version (9) - comes with a Lyrik too.
  18. Cheers, I don't even need to read the article now, just reaching for my wallet!
  19. I've got the older frame - 100 mm recommended, 120 mm max.
  20. Thinking of getting a new fork for my Solaris too. 32mm and 9mmQR means its basically a noodle when I plough through rock gardens with my weight behind it You reckon a 120 mm Yari would be overkill? Otherwise X Fusion Trace perhaps? Its nice having a light fork, but think I want stiffness and burliness now
  21. After thinking about a bit more, put a 45 mm stem on the Solaris with the 740 mm bars. It has made the bike more agile through tight corners, and made it easier for drop offs.
  22. FWIW, I flew Qantas with my bike and only got charged R600 for being a few kilos over. Just had to tick a box that I was bringing a bike box prior to getting to airport.
  23. This is great news!
  24. I think people still like bricks and mortar for their bike buying, so direct to customer hasn't taken over yet. Canyon Spectral is still topping my list for next bike purchase though. Cannot beat that value.
