  1. This from Decathlon. Cheap as chips and easy to put on and off. They've also got a smaller one to go on the front wheel Mountain Bike Rear Mudguard - Black - Decathlon
  2. Agreed... @JMK1 is the best Campy guy in Joburg.
  3. Spoken like a wise man who knows both women and Rome... Unfortunately, the operator is closed for the period that I'm in Rome in January... Damn!!
  4. I'll be there in January. Now, how will I explain to my wife when she opens her suitcase and finds my helmet and shoes inside?
  5. @rorydewetI'm happy to debate the pro's and con's of Cycle Lab with you anytime.... On this thread, I'm just trying to help a newbie navigate their way into the wonderful world of cycling.
  6. CSA must ban HP from ever running a cycling event again. This is fraud. Plain and simple. They knew the costs of running the event yet took money from entrants even when they suspected that they could not fulfil on their contractual obligations.
  7. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to join the Cycle Lab Academy group from Neck and Deck. Every Saturday with marshalled groups. Different speeds and distances.
  8. You can normally find the Duracell LR44 batteries at Woolworths
  9. Cycle Lab offer this every Saturday morning out into the Cradle. And, we often have Sunday rides as well. I am a regular road rider but won't do races that are not full road closures. The number of accidents I've seen caused by some idiot cyclist overtaking into the oncoming traffic, then cutting in front of the group is scary... 947, CTCT and Amashova - that's my race calendar.
  10. Losers on Netflix is also great to watch while training... Watch Losers | Netflix Official Site
  11. So I went with regular frames rather than the inserts because the advice I got was that those inserts wouldn't work with my prescription. Also, they appeared to narrow my field of vision.
  12. My optometrist makes up prescription lenses for me. I currently have a pair of Oakley's that she made multifocal photochromic prescription lenses for. Most decent optometrists can do this with any of the sports type frames. Where are you based?
  13. Has anyone tried these from Decathlon? RC500 Special Edition Pocket Bib Shorts - Petrol - Decathlon
  14. Whatever you do, ensure that you're insured properly. Emirates smashed my BMC on the way back from Europe and had zero interest in helping me afterwards.
  15. Yip. It's currently in my tubes. But, Saturday's cut was too big for the sealant. I know that there are some punctures that the sealant can't seal. I'm happy with the OrangeSeal, I'm looking for the solution to use when the hole is too big for that...
  16. That's my issue. The normal plugs that you shove in to get you home tear big holes in the tyre. I'm happy to remove the tyre and patch it when I'm home, but I'd like to find a roadside solution that will allow me to finish my ride without having to put in a tube.
  17. Where can I find these locally? I had to repair the same puncture three times on Saturday and then just shoved a tube in...
  18. This quote from the Bike Radar review "It’s a bike that, knowing you’ll be riding it in the morning, you’ll concentrate on getting a proper rest, eating well and turning down that beer or wine with dinner. You’ll want to be at your best to make the most of what’s one of the best bikes I’ve tried in a long time. It’s long, low and luxurious, and I’m smitten."
  19. Cycle Lab have this on special today... 2022 Bianchi Specialissima CV Disc SJ Carbon Road Bike | Cyclelab
  20. So now you're making it tough... I'm a through-and-through Bianchi man (currently riding my fifth one)... But my head would probably be turned towards the newer bike. Isn't it a nice problem to have - choosing a new bike?
  21. There is a huge difference in the braking of the disk brake systems. Chalk and cheese. Plus, it's definitely going to get tougher to find spares for both 10-speed and rim brakes in the future. Future-proof your purchase. What are the options you're looking at?
  22. I have roof racks on my car and a single Pro Ride bike carrier. I'm looking to add space for at least one more bike and have some confusion. Secondhand Pro Rides cost 2.0k to 2.5k each. I can buy a new 2 bike Top Runner for 3.5k. Does The Hub have any input that will advise me to stay away from the Top Runner?
  23. I patched a few small holes on my Pirelli tyre yesterday and loaded up with Orange Seal for the first time. Hoping to confirm your your results...
  24. I run 5.3 bar at the back and 5.0 bar in front ( I don't know how to convert to psi). On big holes I've used a mushroom plug from the car tyre place, but I often struggle to find the smaller ones. Where do you get them from?
  25. I've had good results with patching my tyres. I normally use those small patch kits. However, I'd like to buy a decent sizes tube of glue as I run out of glue before using all the patches.
