  1. what a nice welcome to sunny south africa - & what a typical experience. Wouldnt expect anything less out of the unsrmountable thieving trolls in this country i feel for you mate. I hope you find your bike or get a respectable replacement & enjoy the rest of your trip & keep safe
  2. nope, but being in JHB at work makes it difficult for me to be there will you be there skaap
  3. yes ill most definately be there, or rather its been so nevermind then Suggestion though, ive been wanting to do something for this organisation for a long time. It touches my heart very deeply. Its called the Pauljongnikkel home for mentally disabled people. Bear in mind they get no grants whatsoever except making their own money. They have workshops for the residents to make small things/odds & ends to sell to the public. How these people make ends meet at the end of months i have no idea. They are based just about across the road from where the hazeldean race is held. Some of the stories ive heard are heartwrenching & lets just put it this way that some families are really, really selfish & screwed up. They drop them off & the patient/family member never ever sees them again. Lets help these people have an awesome christmas, they never get to experience what gifts are let alone a good meal c'mon its for an awesome cause http://www.kwo.org.za/pauljungnickel.html Background: Paul Jungnickel Home is a home for 138 adult persons with a disability. Here they do not only find a home and meals, but there are cared for all their daily needs. Their needs are more complicated than yours and mine. A great percentage of the residents can only move from one place to the other by means of wheelchairs or other support. Through all this there is still time for smiles and laughter at Paul Jungnickel Home.
  4. couldnt agree more, mine blows a tuba or whatever those noisy oldenday things are. She also feels the need to sing LOUDLY & play a flute. She thinks she talented buuuuut jahhhh - i hate to break it to you sister but you SUUUUUUUCK!!!!
  5. that is pretty ingenuitive shacking up with local chiefs. See the thing there is... if you stop paying him a small reward for riding on his land due to bike jackings he will most definately take the mofo out thats putting a hindrance to his monthly contribution. Thats what we call the best of both worlds - they get money, we get to ride & ten to one most probably much safer than anywhere else aswell, however i could also be grossly misquoted here aswell & it possibly could swing either way due to chance taking from their side so i guess it could also be a scenario of win some - lose some
  6. yup it was packaged & sealed in that selophane wrapping stuff staright from CRC, but nunu me didnt think i was gonna need to extra links when i initially shortened it & misteriosly hid them away where i cannot find them anymore so thats the reason i couldnt extend the chain again & had to go buy a new one. I really can kick my arse cause it now cost me like R340.00 unnessarcily however i cant complain i got a better chain than i initially had albeit the other chain only having about 500km on it
  7. thats the weirdest thing. I had a HG53 chain but had to use it now as a chainwhip cause it was too short with buying a new crankset & all, but also use powerlinks 9spd which are gold in color & it works/worked 100%. Ive now upgraded to the HG73 ( XT ) chain & it works 100% again aswell
  8. seems to me like it cant do it not sure ?
  9. what an ingenious idea - I have to admit it would have escaped my mind & i probably would haver ended up pushing back to the car park
  10. Stop bragging cat-i on a more serious note though. Looks absolutley beautiful but ohhhhh so cold. Dont think id survive that type of cold. The UK was bad enough for me thank you very much. I guess you also have to watch out for the ice on rocks where you ride otherwise you might see your aalie
  11. very interesting, its as i always say to friends of mine wanting to do marathon races. Listen to your body no1 & what its telling you & rest days are probably one of the most pivotal points to building fitness.
  12. Chain breaker & SRAM quicklink. Its the bomb
  13. most definately, Its like i posted earlier in the thread that I would still like to purchase many many many more things from them as the budget allows so i definately dont wanna screw that relationship up. I know she doesnt read our SA cycling forum but a huge shout out to Sheila Tang from CRC. You rock chick !!! below is the response i got from the interantioanl mail centre in jet park. They even managed to screw up the subject of the mail. Lemme tell you what. Some lucky mofo is riding a cheap ass bike with an XT crankset right now. Peeves me off like you cant believe cause all they are busy doing is screwing up a good relationship us cyclists have with them - anyhow thats my opinion at least From: Corli Steyn [mailto:Corli.Steyn@postoffice.co.za] Sent: 17 June 2010 09:27 AM To: Brendon Myburgh (ZA) Subject: RE: Can't GCorli Steynet Through to International Mail Centre in Boksburg<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Good day, I did check on your surename there is nothing received yet. Corli
  14. im soooooooo happppy 2 days from ireland - not too shabby nige
  15. WOW is all i can say Got in touch with Jean Luc & Graham last week Thursday for a warranty claim on my frame. They chased it so hard i could have gone to fetch my replacement frame on the Friday already but thanks to our servers at work it blocked the communication thinking it was spam mail so in a nutshell im gonna go fetch my replacement today Soooo....... to Graham & Jean-Luc THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for a most professional service you guys provided me with
  16. well i just wanna thank CRC for such a proficient service they provided me. My replacement crank was sent to me SAME DAY nogals ( that being Tuesday ) & its already in JHB. Shipping got upgraded at their cost to UPS express & ill probably be able to fetch my crank from the Post Office either later today or tomorrow morning. Im sorry but this beats the service ive recieved from some LBS - not all LBS though but quite a few
  17. good news, gonna fetch my new frame on thursday, now its just the pulling apart & putting back together eish sissywa
  18. i beg to differ on the crankset, I changed from 8 - 9 speed & found the small chainring too far away from the middle blade & the narrow 9spd chain then skates on top of the teeth of the small chainring & then the worst happens. because of all the skating it then splits the outer link on the chain & your chain snaps voilently or at least thats what happened to me. its an expensive excersize & only helps for a little bit more of granny if you want. I enjoy my 9spd but dont enjoy the hassles its given me to get there. youll need: 1. 9spd shifters 2. 9spd derailer ( also compatible with 8 spd ) 3. 9spd cassette 4. 9spd crankset ( small chainring is closer to middle chainring than on 8spd ) 5. Front derialer will work regardless - its 8 & 9 spd compatible so as you can see its quite a hefty lump on the pocket, however what ive found is that if not exactly dialled in 9 spd is a little more forgiving & doesnt skip like 8 spd as the cassette gaps are narrower than 8 spd. soooo they both have their advantages & like i said this is just what ive found out ( the hard way ) by trial & error
  19. well ive sent off all the detail so now its just for HQ in an Andorra to come back with an answer whether they are going to let me replace or not hold thumbs
  20. i somehow dont think so, but i aint get gonna bet ya. I might just owe you soming
  21. shipping was quite expensive on the crank but still was cheaper than buying from here. I should have popped it into my neighbours order but he waited 6 weeks for his order to come due to unavailable stock but he got his yesterday shipping i think cost me 17 quid
  22. yup it was just the crank, why do you ask ? BumpNgrind2010-06-10 06:16:02
  23. well this gives me a little peace of mind, cause i was starting to get quite despondent & getting that knot in the stomache when you know something aint running smoothly. Generally i waited max 8 days ( working days that is ) but not this time round unfortunately look if they do send me a replacement & i do recieve the original i will most definately send it back as there is no time for burning bridges in my books & i would like to purchase a whole lot of things from them in the very near future so....... i just hope it turns up. even if have to wait thats cool by me, but whats frustrating is the fact that ive got no idea where the hell it is & i dont know where to even start looking for it. I guess ive followed all the advise as best i could so now its just the waiting gameBumpNgrind2010-06-10 06:12:26
  24. sheesh, you lucky !!. Im heading for 4 weeks tomorrow & nothing ive got a stinking sensation that it possibly could be a thieving troll that is smiling with my freakin new crankset
  25. this is the problem i chose royal mail as i didnt need it very urgently & ive never had a problem with previous royal mail orders & as you know there is no tracking details. I eventually got through to the internationl mail centre in Jet Park but theres nothing there according to them searching by my name. CRC seems to be willing to help me but i dont quite yet wanna take their word as gospel just wanna know if someone else has experienced the same sorta thing where orders misteriously dissapeared & if CRC honour your purchase & send a replacement its been a month since i ordered & was dispatched same dayBumpNgrind2010-06-10 05:51:25
