  1. Sorry for you loss OP... hopefully you'll find something else. As for the seller, I believe your word is your bond and what you have done is unacceptable. Also, as a reputable seller, mind your language. I wish you both the best of luck.
  2. Seeing that OP has left the building and i'm in the process of starting my own thing too. Please feel free to check out my insta page and add a like ???? @precisionbicycles_za If this post is not allowed, please feel free to delete.
  3. I am currently thinking about this too. My aim is more on the workshop side though. It's a long term plan so i'm more focused on building a clientele, the rest will follow. On the component side, I haven't thought about that as that is something that will follow after. The reason for doing so is purely because of the lack of service in Cape Town. I don't mind paying for a service, but the issue I have is when there's a problem after the service. If you have the time and capital, go for it.
  4. In our case it's linked to armed response which helps a lot. Silent trigger and they respond within minutes to do a full perimeter check. The moment any tampering occurs, they are dispatched.
  5. That's the problem, when the human touches, the fence should basically push him away. High voltage, low current situation. If said human gets injured or dies by touching the fence and you as owner do not have the correct paperwork on hand = K@kstraat vir jou.
  6. I am not really sure, I do know that you need to have a number of visible signage, proper earth point etc....
  7. Also, spend more and go for the thicker line for industrial use, it will last a good couple of years.
  8. If you do not have a COC, you'll be on the wrong side of the law if and when someone gets hurt. As far as maintenance goes, just make sure there no trees or branches interfering with the fence. The plastic bits you can replace as needed. Try and identify a weak spot OR a spot where you would attempt to enter and raise it with a few lines. Lastly, link it up with arm response and you should not have any issues. As far as electricity usage, it's minimal and it will last much longer vs an alarm system on a back up battery.
  9. I think they no longer in Cape Town. I believe the bicycle garage will still be the main agent for Pinarello though.
  10. I had trouble activating my third one too. The problem was the Credit card. If you have the Discovery card, you need to migrate it to Discovery Bank and then it will allow you to use the benefit.
  11. Still waiting for the correct mounts for the light to be fixed onto Black inc mount. The pedals, AWESOME!
  12. With all the muggings and bike jacking happening lately, I decided to add a work horse to my stable. Picked up a bike in decent condition and decided to fully restore it. Shimano Sora 3 X 9 and it’s perfect! The SSE got nothing on this beauty.
  13. Rather bite the bullet, buy new and keep your receipts. Problem solved.
  14. The cracked derailleur and crank was a mistake which he said he will correct. You accepted the derailleur afterwards as it was working. And let’s not forget, you should not have opened the derailleur, you lost me there. Also, your CPA case can work for or against you, but good luck with that. The guy tried to assist you, but me personally, I wouldn’t take the abuse either.
  15. I feel like commenting here is not worth it, but here’s my final opinion. I feel for the OP, but my problem is this, you only mentioned the test ride afterwards and you confirmed everything was 100% on Wednesday. The bike was then in your care and complained a few days later that it’s broken, that I don’t agree with. Also, the way you treated the seller is not right, in fact it’s degrading. You saw the bike, you liked the bike and you bought. All that is left to do now is to enjoy it.
  16. I think I'm moving to Facebook marketplace. I honestly hope you guys get this sorted.
  17. Why did he open it? And what exactly of the "internal workings" was damaged? Also, is he certified to open Shimano Di2 components?
  18. Please keep in mind, received bike Wednesday and everything was 100%. Complained Monday and the bike was broken. Also, your mechanic opened the rear derailleur, why only he will know. Again, enjoy the bike as you mentioned it's sorted now.
  19. I’m a big fan of squirt lube. What I’ve done over the years, when I apply lube, I use the cassette replacement wheel and leave the lube to dry. Also, once the chain is fully lubed, and run a few revolutions, I then wipe the chainring, jockey wheels and chain outer and inner. I clean my complete drivetrain once a month, wipe chain outer and inner before every ride and my system looks clean, well most of the time. I must add that I enjoy working on the bike too so it’s not an issue for me.
  20. So you want to pay 10, insure for 100, pay the premium and then claim 100. Personally, I don’t agree with this, but each to his own. Insurance is there to protect your risk, not upgrade your lifestyle. Pay 10, insure for 10, bike lost, you get 10 minus your excess and go buy another bike.
  21. So, what I would do is basically get a replacement quote, inform the insurance what I paid and we mutually decide what it’s actually worth and insure it for that amount. You might get lucky and get a decent bike at a very good price and then insure it for a little more as you won’t get it at the same price. That also saves me the admin of have to prove pricing, owning etc as I inform the insurance when the policy gets updated.
  22. Let’s say you buy a TCR 2010 model on the hub for 15K. You phone for insurance and get told go for a replacement Quote. Giant tells you they only have 2020 and 2021 TCR and give you a 60K quote. Now, you contact your insurance and insure you 15K bike for 60K, all is well until something goes wrong and now comes the claim. The insurance then ask for proof of purchase, ownership, who you bought it from, what you paid etc. Based on the fact that you insured your 15K bike for 60K might risk your claim being rejected because your actual loss was only 15K. This is just my opinion and based on my previous claims.
