  1. The refund was probably done via SAPO 🐌
  2. I've had the exact same experience with KP. RD broke off during CTCT. The person I dealt with interrogated to the point that I told her that her behavior was unacceptable. They are most likely going to reject your claim as they did mine based on wear and tear. You then log an internal dispute because the Ombudsman state that in your case, the insurance must assume the worse case scenario and that could be a stone, stick etc.. once settled, get a new insurance.
  3. Also, if you're brand loyal, you'll buy it 😂
  4. I think their target market is someone with a power meter that is looking for a smart trainer that does not require removing wheels and only takes a few seconds to fit or remove the complete bike. Great idea, but definitely overpriced seeing that it does not supply power. Also, a snap + plus cheap trainer bike will most likely cost the same.
  5. Rather start thinking about this once you're established and adding retail to it. Also, social media is a great tool. I am based in Cape Town so no impact on you https://www.instagram.com/precisionbicycles_za/
  6. This has always been a passion of mine, just not worth the risk so desk it is. Too many challenges and just to give you an example.. client brings bike, chain worn 1%.. my advice, replace chain rings, chain and cassette + major as it's clearly ridden into the ground, client don't have the funds and only wants to replace the chain. I turned him away as I know the drive train will slip the moment he leaves. He left and never returned, I lost a client, still have my job and now I do it as a hobby. The most important part for me is quality of quantity and that comes at a price not many people are prepared to pay. Best of luck and hope you succeed.
  7. Too much admin for one extra play. It will also limit the more active people to do less for example if you meet the 600 you need to stop or do rides and not upload them. Think I'll pass.
  8. A friend of mine lives in Dubai. Regarding the speed limit, if I remember correctly, if you're 40kms over, your car gets tagged, not allowed to drive it for 14 days plus a heavy fine. Happened to him once, major inconvenience and a hard lesson learnt.
  9. This is an easy fix. Get your wife an 11 speed chain, find a gear that is not noisy and use the trainer in erg mode 👌🏾
  10. As mentioned in this post previously, you get coaches and then you get coaches. This started of with regards to a local race. It changed when you brought up National/ Euro/ World.. no argument there, but if you looking to improve your CTCT time, I still believe a coach will be a waste of money and a machine program will suffice.
  11. Me, I'm just looking for local performance to enjoy the Cape Town Cycle Tour
  12. Yesterday I had a busy day and the body battery is what helps get through. Played a round of golf the morning, interval session the evening and dropped my battery to about 36 percent. Decent sleep and I’m back up to 80, rest day today and tomorrow I carry on. Again, this is what I feel works for me and paying someone to tell me something similar is not on, just my personal opinion.
  13. With technology you have access to all of the above. To give an example, previously here was a thread about HRV and understanding how it works, I still don't, but with Garmin body battery takes your current bpm and HRV into account and gives you a percentage of what your battery is which is good enough for me. I have also looked at coaching plans from friends of mine and there's not really much of a difference to what zwift offers. The important part is to set a goal and aim to achieve it.
  14. I was considering the coach option for a while. I have completed one Zwift training program (8 week crit crusher) and there was definitely a huge improvement. I have now started another program (12 week FTP builder) and 3 weeks in and already feeling a difference. I personally think the only difference between a coach and TR or Zwift is self discipline. Also, one should implement of the bike training as well for example running, weight training etc... If you lack motivation and need someone to hold your hand, get a coach, if not and you comfortable managing yourself, any interval training will do.
  15. This was going to be my first Double Century. This is my 5th year not being able to do it, the past 4 I’ve had major crashes October/ November. Was anxious as I did not know what to expect. The weather made it even worse. I do agree with the organizers and the call that was made as it’s much harder to deal with loss of life. On the bright side, got myself some nice Velotoze and a long weekend at Caledon Spa. Will be back next year, better and stronger.
  16. Yes, front light.
  17. Anyone collect their goodie bags? Was there not supposed to be socks inside?
  18. This is just a rating on the adapter, the trainer will draw much less. Shane Miller tested the output and it was less than 1 watt. According to ohms law even at 1 watt the unit is using 0.5 amps. All you need is a charging circuit for the battery... maybe get a few and swap them out with gate/ garage/ alarm etc so you'll always have a charged battery.
  19. My worst and yet the best CTCT ever! We were part of the 1E mess and ended up in 2E... Everybody say hoopalah!! Already the mind told me you're running late and it's time to start chasing, motor blew just before hospital bend and then it was time to chase even more. Managed to fall in a bunch of guys and we were all working together nicely. Caught some of my friend at Misty Cliffs and decided to make it a fun ride. Cruised all the way back, stopped a few time and the COKE was divine!! Managed to between 3:30 - 3:40 and extremely happy with that. Awesome day out and money well spent. The vibe, the people, the riders... everything was perfect!
  20. This is spot on.. You can have the latest tech, but if you do not understand the data, pointless.
  21. This says it all...
