  1. Hi Hubbers. Thought I share an incident that happened to me this weekend, well more my little 4 year old. Hopefully I can give you guys something to think about when you store your bike. So this weekend my little boy decided his bike needs fixing and dads tools are way cooler, so off he went looking in the garage, he likes to rummage through my tools and pretends to fix his bike. A few minutes in I hear bone chilling scream coming from the garage and my kid comes running with blood all over his hand.... and the tip of his finger hanging by the skin. After spending ours at the hospital and about 3 hours in surgery the doctors managed to reconstruct some of it back. Back home I asked him what happened and he said the bike hurt him, now I constantly remind him not to put his finger close to any moving parts such as the chain or gears and he told me that it wasn't the part that hurt him and he pointed to my brake rotor.... He somehow stuck his finger in the rotor and decided to spin the wheel, which pinched his finger between the rotor and my frame slicing his finger off. I know rotors can cause some eina cuts but I never realized how sharp those edges are. I then realized - the way I park my bike was a big no no as this allows the rear wheel to spin freely, if I just moved the bike to the lower hook the rear wheel would have rested on the floor and would not be able to spin. I hope this brings some awareness on how we store our bikes, we need to make sure littles ones know about the potential hazards no matter how cool our bikes are to them. Thanks
  2. Hi All. Would appreciate some help with pricing my bike. Its home build, old groupset from a 2005 scott speedster and a the frame is a 2011/12 alu giant tcr 2. Build hasn't done more 100km so the tires are in good condition.
  3. Hi All. There is a guy targeting wanted adds on here and Facebook and using the name Ryno Van der Walt. Hes got Rynos ID and photos so it looks real and, seems to have scammed a few people already. Hes using these two number +27 60 579 5552 +27 71 868 2421
  4. Finally have my units installed. Just waiting for my panels, should be here in a week. Must say, waking up this morning with electricity really made a difference. One could say it brightened up my day hahaha
  5. Hi all, really gatvol. its time to pull the trigger. Had our local installer around today and would like some advice from the guys here, I need to decide on the package. My two options - R146050.00 (5.5kw system) and the R126500.00 (8.8kw system). Now the guy told me that both would work for the house. - with the 5.5kv system I can run a single phase and about 90% of the house connected. This includes the 3 rooms, tv room and kitchen, not sure about the microwave. The second phase runs my garage which is only lights and one chest freezer (Eskom). Third phase is kept for my borehole, laundry room and geyser (Eskom). With time I can always add another 5.5kw inverted and join the load of the first and second phase. - with the 8.8kw I can run the house at 100% taking the load of phase 1 and phase 2, but he noted that I stand a good chance of overloading my DB when they system uses eskom to recharge and tries to feed the house on dark days as I only have a 30amp feed form the substation, so it might trip the DB or substation. substation only has a 30amp breaker installed. would also like to add a geyserwise system or start off with a pump system to circulate my water what ever I save on electricity will be payed towards my loan and hopefully I can cut my cost with about 70%. The borehole will stay on Eskom for now Any advice would be appreciated
  6. Sadly my dream of going over to solar has been put on halt for now, so Im starting look at small things I can do to make it a bit easer when the donker koms. I do have a genny but paying R2000 exstra on petrol is not in the planned budged. My new house is killing me 🤣 if I can run my booster pump I have water, and then look at a gas geyser, trolley inverter for the wifi and TV. Have back bulbs in all my light fittings which work lekker.
  7. Mmmm, never thought of this. Small solar panel and battery when the power kicks out.
  8. Hi All. Anybody running gas geysers? We have been thinking of this option to help a bit on the savings, at the moment I need to run my geyser for 3 hours more a day due to loading shedding. I do have a solar geyser, problem is that if my pressure pump doesn't run it cant circulate its water. We mainly use hot water between 5am - 6am (2 adults, shower, bath) and 6pm - 7pm (2 kids in a bath) what would the ideal size be 15l -20l? Ill still keep the solar geyser as it helps with afternoon heating. is it worth spending cash for this. thanks

  10. I see these popping up now, not sure on the quality. They go for about 9k Kool Energy: Mobile Inverter Trolley 1KW 100AH 12V (Kool-MIT-1KW)
  11. or you can make your cable housings little shorter than usual, same effect 😂
  12. around 700 units, all honestly I forget to keep track. Ill take some time to check it this month. Will be running my sprinklers more so it will be interesting to see. Based in Kathu
  13. Hi All. Thank you for the advice so far, lots of info coming in that helps. Looking at my options I will have to look at a system with solar panels if Im planning on bringing down my bill. Ill still need to be on the grid for my borehole (3phase). keeping it cycling related 😅 - Cant run a fan when Im on my trainer
  14. My house is already wired for my genny, so basically just going plug into the wiring that's done. Yes it all split, current setup allows for all my lights, and most of my plugs to work. Have a gas stove so no issues with cooking. He's price includes installation, but will have to do the COC separately.
  15. Yea, though so. These are some of the entry level deals from one of our local guys. The 70k deal will be a bit of a push for me but that looks good?
  16. Hi all. Also in the market for a load shedding solution. My initial idea is to have a 5 -8kw hybrid system installed just to run the house during load shedding. My prepaid is about R2000 - R2500 a month, so my thinking was putting down a good deposit and paying of the system through financing, then what ever I save will the be my monthly instalment? I dont need a huge system, just enough to cut my eskom cost and use it as a payment. i will still need to be on the grid as I have a geyser and borehole, but Im fine with that. Any suggestions?
  17. Because the plug we tried to put in this thread actually worked? It kept the hot air going 😂
