  1. Apparently SRAM and Thule are collabing to make the first wireless AXS standalone tail light bike rack product, the tail light cluster connects to an OBD-II dongle. ???? Jokes aside the way in which you connect your bike rack light cluster to a car is so primitive, honestly can’t believe the hastle I had to go through to get it working.
  2. For cyclists already in the wahoo eco system, this watch will make sense, for the 80% of the community that grew up with garmin, it will still be the defacto.
  3. This saved me after arriving in Bonnievale for DC last night realizing I had pulled all the lugs off the connector while loading the bikes, this worked like a charm to figure out where all 7 inners needed to go ????
  4. Wow ????
  5. Yoh dude it’s Sunday, no waging keyboard wars like that allowed! Anyway it’s not like the exotics are dominating the Tour, o wait ...
  6. I dont even know where to start with my criticisms of this ... Setting aside that the pricing will probably be astronomical and that the proprietary nature of campy in general will make this a really exclusive product. These are givens so ill try be realistic with my mockery: 1 - Honestly, a non direct mount crankset? The integrated spider looks horrible! (and probably a 91.2bcd to ensure no existing chainrings fit, and ill bet they reverse thread it or something silly to make it non-economical for 3rd parties to support it) 2 - 13 chainrings - wow! they got here first but, only a 44t big chain ring? Who needs 13 ratios to gravel grind, this is not road racing. 3 - The Cassette is Built on two blocks - SRAM mastered eagle with a single block cassette, meaning a far more solid construction (literally) no creeks. There is no doubt that this launch is targeted at the gravel crowd who are emerging from the exotic road crowd who want their exotic frames to be donned with exotic jewellery - i totally get it, for them SRAM or Shimano is just a non starter.
  7. I think the fenix 3 is too much tech for most, even 5 yrs after its launch. We will hear stories of grandparents handing them down for generations to come. I’ve heard of a number of issues the the 5 and 6 series, I think Garmin had their ducks in a row properly with the 3.
  8. you can get an aeropress for R650 if you search well enough, otherwise R750 on Yuppiechef/Takealot is a 300% increase in price since the OP. Im still not brave enough to pay R2k for a hand operated grinder though
  9. Bringing this one forward in the thread - best advice ever! My aeropress doesn’t rest. You don’t often hear people emphasizing how healthy this way of drinking coffee is either with the paper filters holding back oils/sediment. What’s also changed for me is that I don’t gravitate to dark roasts/espresso beans anymore, the magic of coffee taste in a machine like this is the light roasts.
  10. I also have the 7 Black - still an awesome piece of equipment (this was the GoPro that launched with a death of the gimbal campaign). Video Stabilisation after the 7 was incremental IMO, but the forward facing screen is really quite attractive (even though roughly aiming and framing with a wide angle lens is not that hard). Another interesting proposition is the weight of the 9, and by implication the promises of better battery life. My Hero 7 is ok if i switch off the GPS, any connectivity (manual image transfers using an SD card reader), and constantly power cycle the camera between recording. At $449, us locals should be prepared for a Cape Union Mart launch of R9k (R8999) me thinks. Not sure what the local plans are, but if you buy the 9 with the GoPro subscription package, you can save $100 (~R2k) which is a decent saving.
  11. What’s frustrating is that only heart rate goals are zoned on this page, power isn’t so you are constantly guessing your power input to make goal.
  12. Specialize Diverge Comp - Alu- loads of fun!
  13. No affiliation with CTCT means no more 3rd medal? My OCD to collect these things is killing me!
  14. This link works better for me http://puresavage.co.za/2019/07/chas-everitt-around-the-pot-100miler-presented-by-seesa.html/
  15. Well done to the first team across the line yesterday, although you can clearly see who was in who's draft for the entire race! Full results here http://www.mobiielite.com/results/results.php?RaceID=c64eb18d-59c8-4df3-9427-4265be3be3ab
  16. I recall them mentioning a 2x increase in entrants this year - I was surprised that they didn’t start the event in batches which would have controlled the large bunch that had formed near the front during the neutral zone. Always interesting to watch the riders trying to get to the front, even at times riding across the white line on the N2 with huge trucks in the oncoming traffic. My recollection of the quad bike accident was a little different, it had sounded like he had missed a gear as the bike was revving in very high gears before he came to a stop and the ensuing drama commenced. A couple of us bailed into the ditch in the side of the road, not all with wheels down ????
  17. Seemed like there was a little drama at the start when a batch of riders rode into the back of the quad bike pacing the group in the neutral zone - hope everyone is ok ????????
  18. No5 counts for everyone tomorrow unless you are the hoff or Hendricks
  19. The two in the backround make the video
  20. That decision seems to be out of the hands of the organisers though - if there is even a wiff of risk on public safety people from the municipality are compelled to take a decision. Also, most of the field that seem to be talking here will be done by 09-10am, the majority of those that are likely to face the grunt of the windy conditions as they "mature" are probably far less equiped to handle being blown from pillar to post - if this leads to falls the risk and potential strain on emergency services is a lot bigger than all the ego in this thread.
  21. Bikehub have a strava group that will easily co-ordinate that ride, and what’s better is that strava will handle timing an positions for free!
  22. some weather comparisons
  23. Between Windguru and Windy im pretty sure its a repeat of 2017: - Cycle Tour Trust were already alerted to wind conditions - Ran ahead with plans as if nothing was wrong, even letting off a couple of groups on the morning - Stopping the event when the start area under the civic center became unmanageable - Also $ and % groups had major falls around Blue Route Mall - Also at the same time a seperate concern around kommetjie part of the course, leading to a route change because of demonstrations and obstructions on the road.
  24. The houw hoek inn also has extra capacity now to provide capacity at the start/finish/start for Day 1 - i stayed in the new part of the hotel recently and its really nice. I partially agree that this is affordable stage racing in that the entry is cheap compared - but having to pay for accomodation and logistics around finishing in Hermanus and making your way back to Hoew Hoek is a bit of a schlep.
  25. in other words - i wont agree to state the obvious now - i still need more money spent at the expo before declaring what i already know is going to happen .... again
