I haven't done the epic so I can talk from personal experince. Reading what Kevin Evans is doing I would suggest propper tubless tyres. No point in trying to save a few grams. Conti race king / moutain king combo maybe?

Spesh all the way! Spend the extra cash and get the Pro model with the carbon sole. You should also look at getting the custom innersoles, the High arch support (green ones) made all the difference for me.

Doesn't the linkage system used dictate where the shock is mounted? Wonder if you could mount a shock vertically with a dw link?
