  1. My recommendation is stay away from V12 man. He will bankrupt you with his advice, but you will end up with a fine cup of coffee.
  2. Aeropress is great but it's slow when in my opinion. Boiling the kettle standing not around while it brews, extracting. If you have time constraints it wouldn't be my first choice.
  3. Did you miss that I was making a joke?
  4. No no no no no. If you don't have time to make a proper cup of coffee you should consider making some lifestyle changes. Reminds me of the meditation advice I got years ago. It goes like this. "You should meditate for an hour a day. If you don't have enough spare time to do that then you should meditate for 2 hours a day"
  5. Thanks Veebee. That's kind of my conclusion.
  6. OK. Thanks for that. I'm not going to shooting at night, well I wasn't planning on it. At the moment I think I will definitely have a go during the day. I'm fairly good at picking up on when it gets hairy. Been run off a few times with in Joburg. Fortunately I always saw it coming. Than can go wrong on you though.
  7. Hehehe. Photos obviously. Is that just a feeling you have or do you know of any actual incidents?
  8. A question for the Durban guys. I am going to be on the coast for two days while my GF attends a geology conference. So do two days I am left to my own devices during the day. I am keen to spend the two days shooting on the beachfront. Was there about a year ago and it seemed safe to me. We swam and wondered around no issues. I went to school in Pinetown and Pmb so I have lots of memories of this area. I find it quite interesting and have lots of ideas for street photography type of stuff. So the question is any advice on security. I am not particularly nervous and shoot downtown Joburg very regularly, and that can be very dodgy. Any one spent any time shooting on the Durban beach front?
  9. Shot on holiday in China last month. Temple Of Heaven Beijing.
  10. Elke baas het sy bo baas.
  11. That wasn't even close. I reckon Mayweathers ex wife gave home a harder workout.

    Rugby...

Tough game tonight. First away win for AC. Lot of bad tempered incidents. Still a good win. Progress being made.

    Rugby...

Enjoyed the Springbok game on Saturday. Not top level rugby and lots of work needed but a huge improvement over last years season. Energy and passion on display Most enjoyable was the Sprinbok scrumming
  14. The best way, and one of the most expensive, is with a dedicated macro lens. Next best would be extension tubes. Usually come in seta of three relatively inexpensive. They move the lens away from the sensor allowing closer focusing and since they contain no optical elements quality is not much compromised.. there is some quality loss however as the lens being used is not made for close work so compromises are made. Next would be a macro adapter similar to a filter that goes not the front of the lens. Try the cheapest option to see if you enjoy it. Personally I hate macro photography. If I have an away trip that's important to me I will spend a day shooting macro on n the garden to get my eye in. A bit like a pianist practicing scales. Useful but boring.
  15. I will get up to watch. Not fond of Mayweather. I think he is going to kill Mcgregor.
  16. I had an Oscar for two years. First 'proper' machine. I learnt a lot from it. Made some fine cups of coffee. If takes some work though. Sold it on to friends and they are loving it.
  17. I'm clearing out a garage and shed. I have an old Giant road bike complete I think but needs a little work. Also lots of 26 inch mtn wheels and tyres. Peddles and so on. Don't want to sell it. Rather it goes to someone who needs it.

    Rugby...

So cool. I will be at the final.
  19. Shot last week at Sera Monastery Lhasa Tibet with an IPhone 7. They wouldn't allow proper cameras but allowed cell phones. I found it quite challenging not being used to shooting on a phone but it was fun and I got some images I liked.

    Rugby...

All Blacks are great team. Especially if things go their way. If a team manages to pressure in them, and that's not easy to do, they start to look panicky. A ref that strictly polices there constant niggling at the laws also rattles them. BI lions looked a better team to me.

    Rugby...

Not a great game by the Sprinboks tonight but a win is a win and the vibe at the ground was good. Scattering of French fans and a good spiriit all round. Still history was made, first time the Sprinboks have beaten the French at Ellis Park. Me more win this year and we will equal last years total of wins. I know WW has only been captain for two games but I we missed him this evening.

    Rugby...

It's early days here. Last year we lost to Italy. This is an improvement. The spirit is clearly better. When we beat the aFrench in the first test a lot of people said it was a French B team, and so it was. The rugby was ugly but we won. The second test it was a better French team. The Boks beat them anyway and it was better rugby. I don't think anyone would say that there is no room for improvement, there clearly is, but the players and the coaching team seem to recognize that. I doubt we would make much impression against the AB team but we are already streets ahead of where we were last year. For me the main thing is to play with spirit. Don't play with the negative, dejected attitude the team had last year and most South Africans seem to display on a day to day basis in practicallly every thing. I personally thought that last year the team was a fair reflection of South African low self esteem and negativity.
  24. I think the most important thing is to make sure you colour coordinate with your leg warmers.
