  1. The Ergofit bike setup system takes your measurements and spits out a set of ideal and corrected measurements. Take the ideal measurements and choose a bike with the closest geometry. According to my Ergofit, my ideal top tube measurement for my road bike is 55.5cm, so my previous Scotts' 54.5cm was too small and the 56.5 was too big. Giant's Med is perfect! By the same token, my Giant Anthem Med is too small. The Large is too big, but the Santa Cruz Tallboy Large would be perfect. Of course, you can adjust the bike with saddle setback, height and stem length etc. But the better the frame suits you in the first place, the better the overall fit without having weird compromises.
  2. Pick the frame who's geometry suits you the best.
  3. Moondust grey ?
  4. Doh! Spoke too soon! OK, what wheels are you using?
  5. Another benefit: A larger rotor cools quicker Your braking power is also only as good as the grip of your tyres though. No good putting dustbin lids onto semi slick racing tyres...
  6. Are we only allowed to pick one?
  7. http://messageboard.....php?f=1&t=2401 2-3 oz 60 -90ml
  8. So far it's not even wheel size related!
  9. ZTR Crest wheelset has that weight limit. I cant find anything about a weight limit on the rim itself. I suppose it depends on how its built up.
  10. DT Catalog says 283g for 64 spokes (@ 264mm). For a 29'er wheelset, the spokes will be in the region of 290mm - therefore a bit heavier. 1550g if I entered everything in correctly.
  11. It doesn't look like you are far off. Try this website: http://www.wheelbuilder.com/store/wheel-weight-calculator.html Or this one @ Stan's: http://www.notubes.com/Wheel_Weight_Calc.aspx Or the DT Swiss Wheelbuidler: http://www.dtswiss.com/ Its probably the most accurate because it calculates the spoke length required. The other two us generic values for spoke weight because they dont take into account length because of radial, 2 or 3 cross.
  12. As far as I know, they are signed Downhill 1, 2 & 3 and Vasbyt. Not sure where it says 'downhill only'. You have made your opinions clear here on The Hub. But, I don't think that the general public know that this decision has been made, and I imagine that this will be met with some resistance if and when its implemented. 'No Entry' signs at the bottom will be ignored and I am sure some twerp will remove them. If this debate turned public, i.e. outside of The Hub, I am sure it would get more heated than it did here. Some people might say that more people ride up it, than pure down hillers ride down it. I do agree that its a contentious issue and an accident waiting to happen. Who is in charge of the trails in Tokai? Who put up the existing singletrack name signs? What do they have to say about this?
  13. OK, so its not a single speed or 1x9 Project. Could be 29? Although you have done that before as well. Interested to see what's next
  14. Its all good and well to talk about this on The Hub, but how will you go about getting this enforced? 'No Entry' signs then need to be erected at the bottom of each of these 3 sections. Who put up the existing signs and how do they feel about this conversation? Off topic: When I see a horse on the single track, I see red. They have the whole effing forest to ride in, why come to a section built exclusively for mountain bikers?
  15. No pics? Then it didnt happen. What changes did you make, if any? Tyres?
  16. Get hold of Peter Wheeler (iCycling). Planet X: R7580.00 BuyCycle: R7600.00 CWC: R7900.00 Sometimes the lbs can be quite competitive.
  17. some nice photography here on steephill.tv
  18. To rehash JB's post. Why do you want to upgrade? Is there something wrong with the wheels or do you just have an itch you want to scratch? I have XT/819 wheels, but needed to scratch a Hope/355 itch. Even went with red nipples! Each time you rebuilt the wheel, its highly likely that you would need new spokes because of different hub measurement or rim ERD's. @ R15.00 for each spoke, that gets pricey! With Mavic's spoke count, you might not even be able to do transplants. You may as well get a complete wheelset and be done with it. Hope Pro II Evo hubs DT Swiss Comp or Revo spokes Brass nipples ZTR Crest rims (or Arch or Alpine or ?) A good wheel builder to put that all together in the manner it deserves.
  19. Mavic Crossmax - Wheel (Or Crosstrail or Crossride ?) Maxxis Crossmark - Tyre
  20. Nice link. Thanks for posting. Its an awesome website. I often visit, just for the photos. Nice riding @ Sani B.T.W.
  21. in the region of R30k, I believe.
  22. Yup, they have started appearing in selected shops. John O Connor and Olympic Cycles in Cape Town had/have some. More in a few weeks apparently
  23. CRC is the way to go. You will get a fright when you see what they cost here...
  24. Speaking of trolls, there was also bustthesickness who added to that little bridge's fame.
  25. In theory, it should work. But you always get special people who think rules don't apply to them and ignore the signs.
