  1. My legs are tender & I didnt do the 99'er yesterday! Great weather for a ride. First PPA funride I have done for a while, so I got a bit of a wake-up call - training hard isn't the same as racing. For me it was a good training ride, but not a good race. I missed my start group and then jumped onto the next one, but my buddy got held back, so I waited for him. That immediatly put me 2 mins behind. No worries. The rest of the ride went well and I put in some good efforts to clear the air ways. My brakes jammed (wtf ?) AND my chain dropped off (!!??) when I hit a bump just before the last climb on Boyes, so I lost all my momentum (physical and mental) and started that climb from 0km/h. I managed to find a small group to ride with and just as my legs had no more, a tandem screamed past us. I hurt myself getting on that train for the last few km but glad I did.
  2. Upgraded since page 1 Shimano Dura Ace groupset 2011 Mavic Ksyrium Elites with Conti GP4000's Not incredibly light @ 7.7kg. Pre Argus service - White Gore cables, black bar tape & white Hudz
  3. The Spanish Prime Minister is now giving his opinion. Spanish prime minister backs Contador's claim of innocence - Cyclingnews.com I bet Fumiyuki Beppu wishes he was Spanish!
  4. I recently felt that I needed new wheels, and the thought that the Easton EA90's would be nice, but after reading all the reviews, went with another set of Ksyrium Elites for R4500.00. I weigh 100kg. My previous Ksyriums are about 5 or 6 years old with just short of 20 000km - they still run true, have never replaced a spoke and the bearings are still fine (one or two spokes are fused to the rim and the pawls in the free hub body look a bit tired). I use them as my 'training' wheels now and use the new pair as 'racing' wheels. (Doesn't CRC have a thinkg about not selling Mavic products abroad?)
  5. Let alone 29'er vs 26'er...
  6. Contador ban to be overturned ? 'According to Spanish newspaper El Periódico, the Spanish cycling federation’s competitions committee that recently recommended a one-year ban on Alberto Contador after his positive test for clenbuterol is considering overturning the decision due to legal considerations. According to El Periódico, the Spanish federation was convinced that Contador did not use a medical product containing clenbuterol, nor had he undergone a blood transfusion that contained the product, nor had he been microdosing with the product. The paper suggests that Contador’s legal team will make a case for the ban being overturned due to the judgment that effectively states that his positive test was due to factors beyond his control. It also states that members of the federation’s competitions committee are ready to change their verdict of a year’s ban based on this argument.' Cyclingnews.com And who said the Spanish didn't look after their own?

  11. You know its gonna be an awesome on line shop when you come to The Hub for advice on what to stock...
  12. Does anyone have access to The Book of Face ? From Twatter: Statement from the CyclingSA CEO following SA Road Champs http://fb.me/Uw37bHnQ
  13. That pretty much sums me up!
  14. You wont be sorry. I love my TCR Advanced. The frame is a good platform for future upgrades.
  15. I got a 2:54 in the perfect weather a few years ago. Even with perfect weather this year and IF I am fit as I was then, I still think my sub 3 chances are slim. I am so not a climber and Boyes has seen my wave goodbye to my group for the last 2 years.
  16. Giant TCR Composite 2 is R15k @ Cycle Factory Store. Great value for money - so much so that stock is in short supply. GIANT 2011 TCR ADVANCED 1 R25,250 TCR COMPOSITE 1 R19,500 TCR COMPOSITE 2 R15,000 Cycle Factory Store website Giant website
  17. Looks like where the down tube and seat tube meet just above the BB shell. Hectic!
  18. I have seen Fizik test saddles (flouro orange or green) and some shops do San Marco, but I havent seen Selle Italia saddles available to test/loan. Its an expensive 'trial and error' process otherwise.
  19. I have a Selle Italia Prolink lite Gel Flow. Its a bit of a couch/lazy boy - but then again, I do have a big ass. I would like to try the Flite gel flow, but I dont know if it would be too narrow. I need to get my sit bones measured on the assometer. The Arione and Antares now also come in the versus version with a presure relief chanel down the middle. So many options and saddles are expensive! At the end of the day, you can try a lot of recommendations, but only YOUR ass can decide.
  20. An avalanche is outside of anyone's control. The FA Cup @ SA champs was because of bad planning and organisation. To continue with your theme: If you had booked you hotel and skis and lessons and got confirmation that eveyrthing was in order only to find that nothing was ready and your hotel booking didn't exist when you arrived. I think that is how the riders felt in PE. People pay their entry fees and licences and expect everything to be in place so that they can race. Otherwise that is the point of all these governing bodies and associations and clubs ? Saturday's racing went OK because someone pulled their finger out and fixed the mess. Sunday's racing seemed to go off without a hitch - because that was planned and organised in advance.
  21. It could be that the bigger bike's longer wheelbase offers more stability or the angle of the fork together with the trail make a less twitchy front end and other suggestions ?
  22. It depends on how steep your hills are. But I have a Sram 11-26 with my Dura Ace. The 26 helps me spin a bit more on the climbs and thee 11 is good for chasing when I get dropped on the said climbs.
  23. It's unacceptable! Yet it seems that no one person/body is responsible or can he held directly accountable.
  24. That was last year's model. This year is has some DT Swiss (1800g) wheels See link
  25. Giant TCR Advanced for about R32k - and then get lighter wheels with the balance of your budget? Deep sections look awesome, but they are often not that light and I imagine you only get real benefit when out on your own (break away or time trial) as most of the time you are in a bunch.
