  1. JacquesFullard: Our race was a fiasco on so many levels! Delayed start, route changes, distance shortened, rider safety, mixed categories, and race tactics
  2. 10% off the pace and you are pulled off the route Finish line is awash with riders who should be racing but are now spectators...
  3. Thought so! Was well confused.
  4. Cool pics. What the hell is Burry smiling about?
  5. Its a great shop. I always recommend them when mates are looking for bike bits or service. Well priced and friendly with a good mechanic.
  6. Wow, you gotta think something is up to sh!t when SA Champs isn't worth doing. It should be something prestigious
  7. From roadCyclingSA Twitter: The Elite & U23 Men will do 18 laps of revised circuit = 154.8km while the Elite Women and Junr Men wil do 11 laps = 94.6km 19 minutes ago via web Number of laps on shortened SA Champs circuit:Vets M30-49 (10 laps= 86km) / Vets M50-59+U16 (8 laps= 68.8km) / Vets Women (6 laps= 51.6km) 20 minutes ago via web
  8. I think you might struggle to get under 12kg for R20k... My 2008 Anthem X1 weighs in @ about 12 with XT pedals & drivetrain and Elixir CR brakes Easton bar (carbon) and stem Thomson seatpost and Gobi saddle Hope hubs and ZTR 355 rims. Crossmark UST rims
  9. Is it a mess every year? No results available (apart from on the board @ the yacht club) Car in the U16 girls group yesterday Marshal FA Cup in the vets TT Traffic and police problems etc etc
  10. Here is a list of shops that sell Mulebar as well as the SA supplier:
  11. You would think there is a local election coming up soon... Perhaps if the commuters stopped burning and vandalising the trains, there would be more in service?
  12. I have scoured the interwebs and haven't come across anyone else having this problem, so it seems like a once off. I would still recomend Look pedals. If I were buying again, I would consider the blades though. This is where I got the pic from: weightweenies
  13. Thanks for your input. I forgot to PM you yesterday.
  14. Hectic story Bos! I hope you mate heals up quickly. Carrying weapons or pepper spray and making sure that you have only a cheap cellphone does nothing in a situation like this. What the eff does one do?
  15. For 40k, Kevin Evans offered to drive to PE to deliver one to him...
  16. I have done 3800km with them and have had no problems so far. The pedal axels are tightly screwed into the crank arms. The pedal body threads onto the nut with the serrated edges which holds it over the axels and bearings.
  17. I got a bit of a fright last night when getting my bike ready for this morning's ride. I spun the pedals around as they were making a noise towards the end of my last ride, and the pedal body just came off in my hand! If that had happened while riding, I would have had a proper prang! It seems that the nylon nuts unscrewed themselves from the pedal body. I wasn't aware that one had to check this regularly. Is there a special tool one needs to tighten these nuts? Has this happened to anyone else? (the picture isnt of my pedals)
  18. From Burry's Twitter: @bsbrandon5 max would win on a bmx in barberton. #justsayin
  19. I don't care if he wraps himself around a tree. That would make quite a YouTube clip! Its the fact that other people might be involved that winds me up.
  20. I remeber someone a while ago saying that super fancy wheels are not going to make you fast. It was a few years ago, so forgive the actual amounts, but it was something along the lines of 'take your R20k, buy some nice R5k wheels and invest in a power meter and a coach for a year. That will make you fast!'
  21. I am looking to try a new riding juice (as my son calls it). USN Cytopower HP has too much caffeine, so I just end up with an elevated heart rate. The non HP (?) version is hard to come by. I tried 32Gi on the weekend and it just seemed to make me thirsty, but I still felt pretty good. I had a coffee towards the end of the ride, so I couldn't really do a direct comparison on how it makes me feel. I think I will try some PVM Octane and or some Cadence Nutrition. But I dint know which to use: The Classic, Marathon or Revolution.
  22. I have stopped stressing about cyclists not wearing helmets - both on the road or up the mountain. It's not my head that's gonna crack open. I just call them organ donors.
  23. You need the ordinary Hope Pro 2 Disc Rear hub. Note that it does not come with a skewer.
  24. Group C for me.
  25. I would love to try the X-King
