  1. Floyd Landis calls for legalised doping From Cyclingnews.com American says testers are not remotely close to catching cheats "Tthe testers are so far behind in the testing organisations that there's no way to change it now." "They're not even remotely close to catching anybody; it's just a joke. You can use as much EPO as you want and unless you're an idiot you're not going to get caught." "Since you can't stop it you have to deal with it in rational kind of way. You can't stop it and you cant fix it. Monitor it and make sure people don't hurt themselves, but you have to accept it."
  2. That is pretty brave. It must be similar to Lower Main Road from Town to Woodstock and Observatory. I call it the Ninja ride - great for honing your reflexes. Buses, taxis, trucks, motor bikes, pot holes and the usual cars. Pedestrians are the worst though.
  3. I got several waves of shivers and goose bumps when they mentioned it on the news last night and showed her in action @ the Commonwealth games.
  4. Oooh. That's gonna leave a mark... Hope it heals up OK and he is back on a (NEW) bike soon. After all the news yesterday, I was feeling pretty nervous on my bike this morning. Especially in today's honking South Easter.
  5. What a hectic story! Terrible that Barry had to watch it happen. The truck driver must feel terrible too. So Sad. May she rest in peace. Condolences to her family and anyone close to her.
  6. It depends on what you weigh, what pressure you ride them at, the conditions of the roads and the amount of debris you ride over. I get about 6000km from a set before I start seeing the lines of my finger print through the casing when checking for glass etc.
  7. You will struggle the first few times - be sure you have a good supply of coffee! After a few weeks, you will be able to do it twice a week. (obvisouly its easy if you ride it slower) I ride to work twice a week - 60km in the morning, but I go the short route home (15km). When the wind is pomping (as it does here in Cape Town), its difficult to summon up the courage to ride home. Good luck!

    29er Rims

Wow, talk about pimping your ride! Not for the weight weenies though...
  10. @ Woofie: keep us posted with your experience with road tubeless. I am interested to see if it reduces your punctures.
  11. Look like Look Keo
  12. That is HOTNESS personified. What an awesome machine. Congratulations and many happy (and safe) miles.
  13. Heat and dry air also dries Stans up pretty quickly. But in one week? Insane!
  14. You use a lot more of your muscles when you stand, so you use oxygen quicker.
  15. At the risk of sounding ignorant, does the sealant not just squirt out spectacularlty under high road tyre pressure?
  16. 'Give that man a Bells!'

  18. This thread has taken a weird turn. Its full of sensible comments and opinion.

    29er Rims

The Cannondale Flash Carbon 29'er uses uses the ZTR Arch rims which surprised me as its quite a Weight Weenie bike. I would have though they used Crest or 355's. A mate of mine got one and he reckons he would have reliability over weight on the wheels - Especially on a 29'er where the larger diameter makes it a bit less stiff. With the Stan's tape, they seal up nicely for tubeless.
  20. What is the main source of your punctures? I am not sure that the road tubeless tyres would be more resistant to sharp things than say, Gatorskins. I think Hutchinson make tubeless road tyres but I think you need proper tubeless rims to make them work properly. Having said that, if you added Stan's to your tubeless system, wouldnt the higher pressure in a road tyre just squirt it out before sealing it? I know that at 2 bar, my mtb tyres make quite a fountain before a puncture is sealed.
