  1. Did the tyre hold pressure when pumped back up to 5 Bar?
  2. 2 seconds ? Felt like a lot more. It looked like an F1 pitstop vs Sunday picnic
  3. The One-6-One (Timed by Strava, so it counts as a Gran Fondo ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ˜‚) Our 100 Mile charity ride for a mate with 2 coffee stops in Scarborough and then finish with some Lagerchinos in Rondebosch. We were so lucky with the weather yesterday!
  4. I don't know where to post this, so will derail this thread a bit more https://bikerumor.com/the-beam-x-virgo-move-full-face-helmet-brings-extra-protection-for-safer-ebike-riding/
  5. OK. But I am nervous of a previous post about lubing properly afterwards Yes, I was wondering about getting dirt under my nails if there was a machine that could do it for me. I will stick to the tried and tested method of paraffin in a jar for the chain and the cassette in a plastic container. A bit more admin, but a lot cheaper. Thanks for the responses. I will suppress that impulsive notion.
  6. This looks like a bargain! https://www.rapide.co.za/product/pirelli-cinturato-gravel-mixed-tyre-700-x-45c-pair/
  7. That's how I feel about the Gravel Hard (45mm) version, but I clearly don't ride rough trails on my GG. Would love to find another pair, but they are pretty scarce at the moment!
  8. So, any recommendations on an ultrasonic cleaner ? Cleaning a chain is easy, but chucking a 12 spd MTB cassette requires an industrial sized one and I am wondering if that is worth the hassle and cost.
  9. Did you feel disadvantaged because of the gearing or rolling resistance of your tyres ? For Interest sake: what were you running ?
  10. A bit like this thread...
  11. Chunky or Extra Chunky ?
  12. Does anyone know who has these kits in stock ? I was a bit slow and missed the one they had @Evobikes
  13. Has anyone done a side-by-side comparison with the Trek EX-e ?
  14. Fists are going to fly !
  15. But we know that this seller is not particularly great with the technical details. Definitely a quantity over quality approach to adverts. And their prices on used goods are not that great either. Rant over Those are rims. And spokes. and hubs. and tyres...

  17. UCI doing UCI things https://escapecollective.cc/uci-confirms-pre-tdf-equipment-register/
  18. I have a road bike and a heavy dual suspension 29'er MTB. It didn't make sense to buy a hard tail and then gravel it up, so went straight for a steel GG to fill the gap in between. Touring on the MTB is comfortable, but also a tad cumbersome and I cant fit touring bags. I am not into racing GG events, so that wasn't a consideration when building it up. I take my GG road riding and on dirt roads, but don't go mountain biking as I have a bike specifically for that. Its not a road bike and not a mountain bike, but it fills the gap between that with a bit of overlap on both. Its almost the best and worst of both. If I could only have one bike, it would be my GG.
  19. For interest's sake: What tyres are you running on these rims?
  20. see response on this thread:
  21. Despite peegate, there was some great racing. 9 seconds on the GC !
  22. Your leg vs torso length could play a role in that decision. Tall seatpost, longer stem and a stack of spacers on a large could give you a similar position to an XL. Or you could be super flexible and have a massive saddle to bar drop. The weight difference between the two wouldn't really be that much, but the geometry may be a factor. Smaller bike would probably have a shorter wheelbase and lower stand over, so might feel more nimble. Bigger bike would feel more stable. If you are buying from a dealer, they are usually equipped to do a good bike set-up and help you with that decision
