  1. That route profile looks pretty brutal to the finish line - they are smashing each other now. This bit makes the 'Cross Cape' section seem pretty tame!
  2. I am in for this weekend! lastminute, com slot because my mate's partner is sick. Dropped my bike at the LBS for a once over. Will do some frantic packing and running around tomorrow, and then its go time! Excited!
  3. Please post photos of the build It sounds amazing!
  4. R20k more than its more rigid cousin. I am sure that they will sell like hotcakes!
  5. I was going to post a link to that too, but not sure if it fits the 'affordable' bill as per the topic heading. They are very nice tops and the fabric feels great. Not sure if I like the long sleeves though.
  6. Have a look at what Indola has. They haven't gone full lumber jack (yet..) Seems more like a mild tartan https://indola.co.za/product-category/mens/mens-cycling-shirts/
  7. 'Cyclers keep Left' said the signs on the side of the road
  8. You will be fine with either 52-36 or 53-39 chainrings with the 11-28. If its really flat where you are, get the bigger rings. I have the semi-compact with that cassette and thing its great (here in Cape Town). Your choice may be influenced by availability. As David says, you will probably have to change your rear mech if you go bigger than that cassette (depending on what you have on your bike now). I currently have an R7000 crank with Stages on my R8000 crankset - no problems there.
  9. I feel that its been a while since a Baum was posted here https://cyclingtips.com/2022/10/bikes-of-the-ex-staff-bunch-ct-tribute-baum-orbis-x/
  10. We will be surprised to hear that no formal action has been taken against this crook
  11. You only stand to lose that 1 watt when you are doing over 40km/h (in a wind tunnel...)
  12. Niner beat them to it a while ago with this bad boy https://www.ninerbikes.com/mcr-9-rdo/
  13. https://bikerumor.com/wild-new-specialized-diverge-suspends-the-rider-with-fully-damped-rear-future-shock/ https://cyclingtips.com/2022/10/2023-specialized-diverge-str-review/ Interesting (but not new) concept. Niner MCR among others. I can help but feel that if you need dual suspension, perhaps you are on the wrong bike... Your feeling on the bike may or may not be affected when you hit the end of the article and see the pricing.
  14. Quite a well travelled chap - from the Northern Cape to the shores of Anchor Bay in Michigan. I hope he is used to the cold. That profile photo was definitely not take in winter! Oh, and he needs to update his relationship status...
  15. Would you consider a Trek Top Fuel ? And then, which of those bike are in stock in your size ?
  16. Looks like Trek also attended the Ted Talk hosted by Cervelo where they discussed these holes and shapes Imagine they all appeared on the same bike! With all these aero gains and free Watts on offer from wheels, frame & component manufactures, at what point does the bike become self propelled ? I mean, if you add it all up, it sometimes sounds like the bike is so fast you need to hang on for dear life or be left behind! I do wonder what bugs and bits would get stuck in those flaps.. And if you didn't clean it out, how slow and cumbersome your bike would become... The Italians have been known to complicate a simple design on the odd occasion

    LoreOne shoes

They've been updated! https://bikerumor.com/loreone-3d-printed-custom-carbon-road-shoes-updated/ (Maybe these would pair well with the new Bianchi...)
  18. Nobody has mentioned Cervelo's stem yet...
  19. Resurrecting this thread from last year A few silly questions: Some of our DC team have entered, so plan to ride together. How does seeding work? Do we get race numbers when we register on the morning ? Or do we use PPA numbers? Do we use our Racetec timing chips ? And then, what's the deal with CSA membership? Is that only for the race snakes or does everyone require a licence ? (Its clear that I haven't done an event in a while...) Thanks
  20. I have been watching this build-up with interest, so am very keen to see the whole journey unfold. What an adventure! Also keen to see more about her bike. I see that its a (titanium) Sling. Not sure if its a Tagati. Looks awesome
  21. Seems like they have done a bit of a 'soft launch' https://bikenetwork.co.za/review-pyga-tig/ Bike looks pretty awesome! I would like to see what the pricing looks like
  22. I think Phil Liggett would refer to that as 'The Elastic' 🤣
  23. There was an incident just past Simons Town on the weekend. I don't know details, just word of mouth from a friend of a friend. There was quite a group of cyclists at the scene along with emergency services, but they weren't sure if a car was involved. Hope it wasn't serious. Does anyone have any info ?
  24. As I finish typing that, they switch to the whittled down chase group and the gap is coming down. We have a race on our hands!
  25. The real action is in the chase group with the race for Bronze. Most of the camera work is of the font two, which is a bit boring.
