  1. Yes - the with pre-infusion looks attractive Temperature Surfing is a real ball ache
  2. What was a nice feature on 'old' classifieds was being able to link to seller's other 'Active Ads'
  3. You sure? Those look like Nespresso pods This link says Nespresso compatible https://www.cirocoffeeboutique.co.za/solo-comfort-nespresso-compatible-branded
  4. I caved under the pressure from you guys My wife thinks I am a lunatic and gone off on a complete tangent on my new obsession. And then the Nespresso machine stopped working... She is a bit more accepting now So, down the rabbit hole I go...
  5. Are you a hair dresser ? (Jealousy makes one nasty)
  6. Put the Jacobs down and step away from the counter... I am fairly new to coffee and am feeling a bit like Alice in Wonderland - lots of rabbit holes to go down. There are so many details to study or get totally confused by - so it can be really fun, or a complete information overload. Lots to read up on - Cape Coffee Beans is good in the way they describe each product and method. I was in the shop the other day and the guys there are great. Very passionate and helpful. (They made me feel like Neo in the Matrix facing down a red or a blue pill)
  7. You beat me to it. One could also look at Bodum as the 'household' brand of plungers, where Bialetti is famous for their stovetop Moka Pots - another method to investigate The purists will say that whatever method you choose, get a (burr) grinder for freshly ground beans. Even if its a manual type. You will think that shop bought ground coffee is fine, but
  8. What gears are currently on your bike ? 3 x 9, x x 10, 2 x 10 ? i.e. how many teeth on front rings and what cassette is on the back ? A 1 x 12 probably wont give a bigger range of gears than a 3 x 10 setup, but might save you a bit of weight and a whole lot of admin with only one shifter.

  13. Got home, plugged it in a let it heat up while fiddling with the buttons. 1st shot using the single shot basket was a disaster. 2nd shot was with the double basket and that came out quite nicely. I am using Bootleggers espresso grind because they are just up the road. Now for a decent tamper and then a milk jug and and and...
  14. OK, so I ignored your well meaning advice and went ahead and got it anyway. 'The Want' overcame 'The Need' . The way I see my progression : Nespresso Machine - Aluminium frame with 10spd 105 Bialetti - Single Speed or fixie SBDU Machine - Carbon frame with Ultegra HX Machine - Carbon frame with Dura Ace DB Machine - Carbon frame with Di2 Getting a good stand alone grinder is like adding carbon wheels
  15. This wins the internet - well, for today anyway. Love it!
  16. It wasn't necessary for the thread to go further than this post
  17. I work from home - the office consists of just me .
  18. A 2 year old Rancilio Silvia 'hardly used' is making me think about stretching my budget. Would this be a good purchase? This is a very different game compared to an auto bean to cup machine. Also, I don't have a grinder though, so will have to make do with shop ground coffee
  19. Yep He was with one of the Breitling teams I rode with him up Tradouw Pass - pulling one handed wheelies in between pushing team mates. Lekker vibe
  20. It's going to get hot though!
  21. I think what you mean to say was that you want a Rocket But this is a cute combo : https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/collections/rancilio/products/rancilio-home-espresso-bundle?variant=36833074436
  22. You need to throw a budget figure in there. I am trying to convince myself that I need a coffee machine in my work-from-home office - my budget is about R5k Delonghi - ESAM2200
