  1. Just went for my first ride in weeks (only woke up at 2pm as it was another long night at work). Man the world feels like a better place right now - tomorrow morning another ride is on the charts.
  2. I upgraded last year and no need to change crankset, 8spd works 100%. I would change the FD only when you change your crankset. You can even keep the same chain. Heck, my RD is still an 8spd one.
  3. I'm very close to doing the same. I've also discovered that I will be better off financially if I do.
  4. I've seriously considered buying a second commuter to do this. I work above Action Cycles and have access to the fan walk. Agree 100% and currently a serious problem I have. This month is the last month I put in any overtime.
  5. +1 Will have to ride that
  6. I don't run tubeless but another contributing factor that was identified where car exhausts. Some Hubbers have posted experiencing problems with their bike racks on their cars where the bikes wheel is too close to the exhaust.
  7. Arrrgghhhh ... the last 11 mths have been hell since I gave up my awesome flexi hours job where I was able to commute to work each day for one 50km away. As a result my poor MTB has hardly seen me much and even less the last 15 weeks since my promotion. It was such an awesome Sunday to have gone to Oak Valley but I had to work. Worst of all is I was so proud with my weight loss but now I'm inching ever so closer back to my old weight.
  8. +1 BTW where did this happen?
  9. Your little one is too young for lever. Its only recommended to go that route once they are 9+ as they do not have proper strength in their hands. Its also a risk factor. I grew up with back pedal and it saved my bacon many times on Gordons Bay (street) down hills Put slime in the tires, ask your LBS. But what about a Y-bike Extreme rather? A lot more fun for kids and my son can easily do 3-4km on his (he use to do 3km on his normal Y-bike)
  10. Normal subscription is R305 so still a good deal (even though its Ride). The Popular Mechanics looks great ... tempting but I wonder if it includes the "free" solar powered car you normally get with a subscription?
  11. Sadly that seems to be the first port of call these days
  12. Sorry to hear, its not a nice thing experience. Hope the coming days turn out better for you and your better half
  13. True. I send electronics to my daughter each year to Durban via SAPO and always insure. Just yesterday I posted her BB9300 but made sure I had insurance. They also only cover lost or stolen, not damage with insurance (as per SAPO yesterday). EDIT: I must be lucky as I mail her a new phone every 24mths, sent a new laptop last year, etc and nothing has ever gone wrong.
  14. Wow, awesome. I already started to plan my cycle touring since last year and will start after my last exams next year. I believe one experiences the country in a different way by touring. Hope too see many more editions.
  15. Cautious guys, thread is going south very fast. If I cannot view this thread in front of my kids, then I need to step.
  16. I went from 8sp to 9sp for R700 - shifters, cassette, chain, rear derailurer (needed replacement)
  17. Got the "Special Offers" one from TakeAlot for R1050 for wife a month ago and was delivered following day
  18. My wife bought one of those sets at a market and its not the same.
  19. I just made customised birthday invites using the Lego Batman figures for my sons party. We where going to make a Lego Batman cake but I don't have time this week. When he is older I plan to hold his party at the Cape Town Science Center, you can even hire the Lego man and have a Lego party.
  20. My bus go My bus goes past there every day and its so easy for something like this to happen as the perps can easily disappear in the narrow side streets . I've also not notice any real cams or public policing which is a pity.
  21. Not nice - I really hope you get her back
  22. Thank you Guys, please keep this to condolences only as I would like friends and family to be able to read this thread as a legacy to the Juan van Heerden. No more grape-vine tails, speculations or debates as they will be heavily moderated.
  23. Post and all references to it have been moderated, please keep this thread for condolences. Thanks
  24. I would say my ride is about R2/km - need to get some more time in the saddle If I went on original purchase price then it would be R 0.90 /km but upgrades
  25. Guys, please don't post assumptions or make statements without fact. This is a sensitive topic for both friends and family.
