  1. Gave last year a skip but so looking forward to this year but sadly I will not defend my title as last man standing in the 42km ... I will do it in under 5hrs this time.
  2. So this evening while driving to the store I noticed a traditional commuter coming up my road thanks to his single reflector on the front (as per law). Now regardless of the law saying we have to have a white reflector in the front and a red in the rear, I wanted to know if one gets reflective tape (white & red) to fit onto ones frame/fork? Currently my MTB has its wheel reflectors but the tape makes more sense as it can be placed without effecting the looks of the bike.
  3. Any junior developers looking for work in Somerset West? Leaving my current employer and they are always willing to look at CVs. Would suit someone getting into IT development (PHP) or a fresh graduate looking for experience. So far I've managed to get two Hubbers into the company in the last year.
  4. TopGear have The Stig, we have David ... we win
  5. NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO .... I'm trying to work from home today and was reading this thread during my coffee break ... now how am I suppose to work ???? Double, no, tripple ban you !@!!!!
  6. Actually you could create an entire forum just for that
  7. For me its also a grudge purchase and why I'm supporting the alternative. I feel sorry for roadies as there really is no alternative. Not saying we need a completely fragmented cycling scene with regards to organisations but we need to have a choice.
  8. Well this is a perfect opportunity to form Roadtopia then
  9. Going to rather give my money to Dirtopia this year. Not going to criticise those who will continue their membership, just I received no value of of mine.
  10. WOT !!! This is the Hub dear friend, we do not re-read OPs
  11. A decade ago I use to drive a Suzuki Half-Loaf and would ride in the yellow lane when driving from Pta-Hoedspruit to fetch stock twice a month. I agree with you on the long distance truckers being friends vs local deliver vans. I also LOL on the ThinkBike stickers on cars as its so true.
  12. Agree with you Flippa but for the price I paid for my Candy X, I'm not going to spend more in postage, phone calls & my time than its replacement value. If it where a high end set that cost me over a 1K, then it would be another story. At least with Chris I can always drop off my goods as either I or my neighbour regular got past his shop and it would only cost 2 minutes of time.
  13. Agree with warranty issue. Had another thread about my screwed up Candy X I bought from CRC, nothing wrong with CRC or the product, just not worth it to claim on warranty - even the local agent has offered to assist (says a lot about the product). Bought some Shimano from CWC and collected today. Price is better than CRC and at least I can return them to a face for a warranty claim. We still need CRC but I will still make CWC and my LBS my first port of call.
  14. I own an MTB and the reasoning for buying one was that I'm not expected to keep it clean.
  15. The OP is keeping his posts in good faith and this is the right thing to do.
  16. I've just order new Shimanos from CWC (brilliant service as always) and will collect them tomorrow. For me cycling parts are consumable and I've learnt not to throw money at something thats broken, instead I must move on. Still love CBs and will order a replacement set (plus extra) end of next month.
  17. Thanks, will give that a try but ordering a Shimano SPD from CWC as I'm going that way tomorrow. Need pedals before Die Burger MTB and last thing I want to do is fit them a few days before the race (talking from experience).
  18. Looked at all of them and none cover my dilemma. It seems one needs a special tool (?) to reassemble the body. Perhaps I need to upload photos tonight to explain the issue. For what I paid for these pedals I'm not going to even bother spending money on them.
  19. Threads like these are why I will only assist to the bare min at a race and will never loan stuff. Enough individuals ruin it for us by doing a race without the required basics and not playing in good faith when other loan them stuff. I believe in paying it forward but still judge each time your required to be the good Samaritan.
  20. If BT does not have it, then I'm not going to waste my time searching for it, best site for videos.
  21. So I bought the Candy X 2009 pedals from CRC (R250 all inclusive: cost; VAT; duties; delivery) and got them in March. Very awesome pedals but notice lately I was struggling to clip in on my left side. Now I sprained my left ankle in March and when ever something goes wrong (like a loose left crank), I assumed it was my ankle. Anyway, so this morning while cycling with littlest Hubber in her chair I noticed that I could no longer clip in and assumed it was the cleats being dirty from previous weeks Oak Valley (there is a reason why I cycle a MTB, I don't like washing bikes, or cars). Get home and see the spring is the problem - so I decided to service it as what have I got to lose, not worth mailing it back to CRC not for the price. To get to the spring I naturally need to take everything apart. So I figure out how to fix the problem and now I need to reassemble, this is the problem, it seems you cannot reassemble the pedal So just a warning to all with Candy pedals, except for pulling out the spindle and replace the bearing, bush and seals, don't even touch the body assembly.
  22. I know I've been critical about Carte Blanche but its more because too many people rely on CB to be then end all. I do believe its important to share experiences with regards to jacking and more important how Hubbers where able to get through the trauma. Lets keep this topic alive on the Hub and not allow it fade away after the Carte Blanch titles have been shown.
  23. Looks like the demand for Tar & Feathers has just gone up
  24. Just got a box to try and little & littlest Hubbers love it so if only for them we will continue to purchase it. Its very sweet so no need for me to add Xylitol to it (I only use Xyliyol). I like it but must say it tastes much better warm than cold (and I only eat cold porridge). I find the lower GI helps and going to only use this for the next month instead of Pronutro. I also like the fact that we can mix it with either water or milk depending on our taste. So going to try this as a milkshake. And for price, well it was a few cents cheaper than the 500g Pronutro, also since we will not be adding in Xylitol (we used sachets), this reduces the serving cost even more when compared to Pronutro.
