  1. Your complaining about a Somerset West business, what do you expect!!!! That sportsmans seldom sees me opening my wallet and usually only when other stores are out of stock.
  2. Have not used mod powers in a long time, so who votes I ban the OP for dissing CWC? But in all seriousness, I like these threads as they just prove CWC is just human - all businesses make mistakes, its how they resolve the issue to keep you as a client that separates them from the rest.
  3. Speak to your broker We got a new broker to insure the business, car, household and bicycle and took it as a package without focusing on individual insurance premiums. Ironic that we pay less for all this cover than what we previously paid for just the business and car.
  4. Best outlook concerning insurance. This is my main reason for insurance and second reason was to cover my prescription glasses in case of an accident. You never know when your going to need insurance.
  5. Just got insurance on my ride and what a piece of mind. Don't forget to insure your goodies too - got all risk cover for my camelbak, prescript glasses, etc
  6. Well OP rant just cost them more than the "loss" of income for one pic. Companies should get onto the customer service wagon and stop treating the consumer with distrust.
  7. Which Firefox and operating system? Its either a styling issue or a cacheing one.
  8. Just some FYI for those looking for work, seriously update your Linkedin profile with all your correct contact details. Got approached by an employment agency this week for a rather good opportunity. While its not yet the South African trend, more employers reference Linkedin and then Facebook for potential employees than any other online/offline medium.
  9. Dude, do it!!! During the world cup we had many Europeans cycling down through Africa and then touring our country. I know there are many here on the hub that have done short routes here in the Cape. Personally I plan to do the Route66 from Franschoek to PE in the next 18mths (would have done it next year but just changed jobs). You could contact Frail (David) as he has the most experience on the Hub of long distance trips.
  10. Bump We are looking for experienced PHP developers in Cape Town CBD. Work is mostly web development (HTML5, CSS3) and then some code.
  11. Love the Hub as its like a soap-opera. Your gone for a few days, come back and a monster thread has appeared. You read page one and its comments, skip to page 7 and comments seem to be still relavent to page one, then jump to the last page and Sally has now discovered that she is carrying Bobs child, Frail has cycled to Jozi and back because he forgot a pair of socks at Tant Anna on his last trip and the debate if 29ers are allowed or not still rages. Now I just need to wait another hour and we get back to the original OP. Think I will read all those pages I skipped as I'm dying to see who shot JR, where Gadaffi is hiding and if there is a local CRC order.
  12. I'm fence sitting on this one so if entries are still up for grabs in a few weeks time then I will do it, if not, then I will just hit Oak Valley that weekend
  13. Either there is a budget garden gnome model out there or they seem to be the most desirable bikes to have, also seen a couple with riders not looking the part.
  14. Agree with Mark, if Admin disabled post counts in the Classifieds, then I all of us would be under 1000 posts But then again its like our official Hub sport, knock the guys trying to rip us off.
  15. My (new) employer is looking for experienced staff for the following departments: - PPC (need a track record) - SEO (need a track record) - PHP Developer, mid-2-senior, most work is PS to HTML so good CSS and cross browser knowledge essential. We develop on M$ We also have a copywriting department that I might also need somebody. PM me but I'm rather slow these days so could take more than a day to respond. Company is based in Cape Town, cnr Loop & Waterkant (above Action Cycles).
  16. There, fixed your question
  17. I miss commuting. As much as what I love my new job and my new salary, I really miss my commute. Been a month now
  18. Was just thinking the same after how I would weld my own (if I could weld). Now my wife has some work stands with wheels she uses in the her hair salon that are can be dissembled for easy transport and I would copy the design for a bike stand.
  19. Times like this when I knew how to weld. So want to get a decent bike stand but why spend R1000-R2000 for something when you can weld your own for less than R200. Only thing I would add to these designs is some coaster wheels, perhaps have the ones that can lock, as I have a small garage and do all my maintenance in the communial parking area
  20. I ran T&C for over a year on my commute but with tubes. I cannot see why you cannot go tubeless. Brilliant tyres and only one puncture - something punched a large hole through it, looked like a .22 shot it. Even though my tyre deflated instantly it did not come off the rim and I was able to bring my bike to safe stop (was doing 50km at the time). I no longer commute with my new job but would gladly get T&Cs again.
  21. I'm on 3rd gen AH (Fexo180) and did notice that I could not take my medication shortly before cardio-busting exercise but had to either take it before (the previous night) or afterwards. Now the advantage of using chronic is that it lasts for 24hrs - it reaches max effect at 6hours. I will add that not taking AH for someone like me in my area effects my ability to exercise more.
  22. I've got the single bolt one and happy with it but I would say if one of your rails is thinner than the other, then it will slip. I had that problem with my original Giant OEM and while the replacement Giant one reduced the movement, it still happened. After I got a saddle with thicker rails, no more issues.
  23. The Mr Price bags come with a bladder but have crap mouth pieces, their real weakness. I plan to get one to use as a spare for the kids or wife but will just fit a Camelback mouth piece to it (if I could). Do how ever agree on looking at K-Way as I find their bags just as good as Camelback, no idea on their bladders though.
  24. Its so scientific to base opinions on one mans observations. I read with great interest on bbc.co.uk years ago about the proff's observations with regards to cycling with and without a helmet. Also there is enough evidence in the States to show that helmet laws reduce permanent head injuries after many states enforced motorbike helmet laws. I once had a nasty accident without a helmet and would say that I was lucky and stupid - if I had a helmet I still would have crashed but would not have been walking around with a massive bump on my head.
  25. I believe in sealant if your not running tubeless like me. I only recently started getting punctures after more than 2 years (running OKO) in the same tubes. The difference between having sealant and not, is it takes longer to go flat and this allows you more time to get home safely. I've slit my tubes with glass, pulled out monster thorns 30km from home, I've hit nails and the only time I had an immediate failure is when I hit something that caused 1cm puncture hole in my Town & Countries and went through the tube resulting in deflation and a snack bite.
