  1. Or just get a some Crank Brothers - much easier to clip in and more important, to clip out than my old Shimanos. But lack of skill is not excuse to blame the pedals
  2. And you guys realise that for every link you remove from your chain, your shortening its lifespan by 15km! So double up those links and get more mileage. /sarcasm off
  3. Happened to walk into Action Cycles today for the first time (was in the area and had 5 minutes to kill) and really nice store. Guys where super friendly. Don't forget CWC for great specials
  4. +1 Nice idea.
  5. Should have made my opinions more clear, Carte Blanche is not the silver bullet where hoping for and we need to admit it. But we should also not detract from its effectiveness if for the only the small segment of the population that watches it as it could have a cascade effect that could lead to more exposure in other forms of media.
  6. Well not everybody I know has MNET or DSTV, like me yet I live in one of the highest LSM suburbs in the country. Most of my friends that have DSTV only have it for the sport. Also: "enjoys a local viewership of about 500 000 people every week" so thats about 15% of the white population in this country if we where to be bigots and assume only whites watch it or just over 1% of our official population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carte_Blanche_(TV_series) Just saying the current affairs programs are not has hard hitting for the general public but I will say they have their purpose.
  7. I think its great to get this issue into the media but sadly Carte Blanche does not have the media presence its perceived to have - same as noseweek. Most of use do not have DSTV and/or don't watch such programmes. Other problem I have with Cart Blanche, 3rd Degree, etc is that they are selling sensational news & fear and not the actual facts. Then again some news (regardless of its level of accuracy) is better than no news and perhaps if this leads to only one arrest, or one less cyclist becoming a victim, then it was all worth it.
  8. RIP and condolences to the family. Not to derail but I nearly knocked over a careless cyclist at Cape Town airport this evening - remember to always be seen, cycle defensively and give motorists the right away when they have it.
  9. I also had rad service from CWC and will always try them first before CRC. Go Chris
  10. I'm so glad I hit Oak yesterday, been nearly 2yrs and I just like the slight changes to the route where it needs to be done, but they keep the important parts untouched and off course, well maintained. I ended up only doing the red route as I left my legs at home, but was 2h30 on the trail and so loved it. Was actually nice being alone on the trail and without a doubt I would hit Oak during the week if I need a break from the world. Had 3 painful wipeouts and seriously think its time to toss those Crossmarks and get something better
  11. What a bummer but glad you guys are OK
  12. Oak its is today. Just filling my camelbak, throwing the bike into the car and I off I go in a few minutes. Weather too amazing today to waste another minute inside.
  13. Cool, just want to make sure that I hit something trailgasmic tomorrow, was also thinking of Koggelberg but I don't feel like scrambled eggs
  14. Sorry I did not mention that I've done Oak before but that was 2 years ago and anything can happen during that time PS: Anybody know if the cows are premenstrual this weekend? Just want to know if I should take the Camcorder with for some cowtube moments
  15. I'm tempted to side with Oak as I so seldom get a chance to go that way and with Schappies I can easily do it after work in Summa ... think it will just have to be Oak tomorrow. Apparently there is another race somewhere so the trail should be quiet and less embarrassing when I pass out or need to push my ride
  16. Flame me like a Steers Begga but how is Oak these days and is it worth it for me to hit the trails tomorrow? or should I rather give the new Schapenburg trails a go? Just recovered from bronchitis and tomorrow is the only day I've got before wife and kids come home from holiday and my normal non-trail riding life resumes? Not looking at doing any black routes, just some nose picking scenic trail riding and a lot of moaning about how unfit I am
  17. I must say that I've managed to push my max HRM from 185 to 192 over the last 18mths - and as been mentioned countless times on this forum with regards to "What is my max HRM?" you need to find that out yourself by pushing your limits.
  18. So hoping my chest clears up so I can do this this weekend - wife and kids left me home alone for a week (awesome) and so far have been too sick to ride ... but starting to feel better
  19. I realise this, why I also behave myself on Linkden and killed my Facebook account
  20. Actually it would work excellent if your a Hubber as you could just sell the crap you don't want - then again like most Hubbers I'm starting to collect new parts that will one day be fitted, hell at least with this crap box I don't have to decided what I might need ... so who is doing the group order?
  21. Another clown bike thread
  22. Looks like something my wife would give me for my birthday, Christmas & Fathers Day - a box of crap. Oh wait, she already does that.
  23. Just some advice, don't underestimate how small the world is. At one of the job interviews I was at this afternoon in Cape Town CBD, one staff is an active Hubber, the interviewer also knows the Hub and only at the end of the interview did he mention that we (he & I) had actually been in email communication a few months back concerning UNISA prescribed text books. You never know. Anyway, all the best with Hubbers looking for work and always great to see other Hubbers posting possible opportunities.
  24. Article too long, first need a cup of good coffee to read it
  25. I will use the Stellies guys as my only choice when I eventually have the cash for one - over the last two years they have always been very helpful with my many questions.
