  1. But ask before you buy - some items attract duties like mad, others not.
  2. That for me is one of the greatest images of all time. Read that the guy in the pic came back from shopping and it was a spur of the moment action.
  3. Start at seatpost fist, check bolts on clamp. This has been the number one cause on the hub for this common problem (talking from experience as well) After that it could be anything, once it was the cable tie for my cadence sensor magnet attached to the crank that was touching my frame.
  4. Hi all, thread locked, please continue at 2012 version: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/111500-unemployed-hubbers-2012/page__pid__1558630
  5. Yeah, I remember cutting through there as a teenager when we use to camp up in the mountains - farmer was not a happy chap
  6. Welcome to the Hub and your new addiction. Don't forget your other kit: Helmet (important and required by law); pomp; spare tubes; cycling kit; etc You need to factor these in as it will either push up your budget or dumb-down your purchase. Besides the helmet, you can get everything cheap (eg Mr Price sports for your tops) and then replace as need be. The general view on Avalanche is that more riders start on them than any other bike and they will all tell you that its not about the bike, its about you.
  7. Where the hell did he jump the fence then? Did you try and enter by the labours entrance next to the boom gate or did go past Erenvale but that would have required him to trespass on the Nature Reserve which is a no cycling area? EDIT: Actions like this get me as I'm miss cycling to the Coffee Company in Lourensford on Sunday mornings. I have to suffer because of the actions of others.
  8. @Grebel Sorry, had to unapprove that one - was a nice while it lasted
  9. What gets me is that I'm no longer allowed to enter Lourensford Estate on my bike with my daughter in her chair to go to the coffee shop on the farm because others ruin it for me. My grudge is not against the farm owner (who is also a client of my wife so we know kinda know her), but the selfish riders that cause the farm owners to prevent access in order to protect their rights.
  10. Nice and welcome to your new addiction ... and why should rain be an issue its an MTB. Now get on your saddle ad ride.
  11. The problem here is your CSV number changes, your expiry date changes and even your CC number can change - cannot blame the service provider if the consumer does not update their payment details. I do think however the OP was correct here as the network at least had an expiry date to work on.
  12. I've got two friends that have had the same problem but with MTN
  13. Its your responsibility to get one that dose. I've seen some racks where I wondered how you lock your bike to them. Also you need to make sure you have a lock that cannot be broken - no help in buying R10 Mr Wong special and then have it broken with a brick. You can also use special cables (I've got one) to loop through your wheel and frame to improve the bikes security.
  14. Thats negligence on your part
  15. That stretch of road has a limit of 100km/h ... I'm not defending the driver, just stating facts and its about 2km straight. Very popular with our midnight street racers.
  16. The driver and cyclist would have been heading towards the sun and I'm only speculating that this could have been a cause. I cycle that road a lot and even though there is a wide yellow lane (and its a double lane road), I'm still very cautious. Condolences to the family.
  17. While I am employed, I'm looking for a PHP job in Stellenbosch / Helderberg area. I miss cycling to work (work now 55km from home) and I miss my kids even more as I only see them at night. I also come from a Linux background and all the CBD jobs are Windows platforms - its like an MTBer being forced to ride a road bike, from GAME
  18. Next your going to moan about the foot movement not being accurate.
  19. I see daily dozens of commuters in CBD and Ottery/Woodstock both early morning and late afternoon. I used to commute with my previous job and only used the car about 2 weeks a year. We also have new cycle paths in CBD I would love to commute again but doing 105km return each day is a bit out of my league at the moment - but Frail does that each morning just to warm up
  20. Well The Hub is not an outlet for any illegal goods regardless of its origins as the sellers all have the same intentions and that is to defraud the buyer.
  21. Condolences to the family, not a nice one
  22. My new employer sells social networking products/services so being present on Twitter,Linkdin & Facebook is a must. We are even required to be active on all sites. Heck, one women gets paid to spend her day on Facebook and another guy gets paid to only do Twitter
  23. Dammit, your 12 blocks from me (work in the same building as Action Cycles) ... too far to walk Nothing beats a proper roasting company - get my fix from a local Somerset West one.
  24. late post but if a Ctrl-F5 is needed then your website needs cache-busting URLs for the stylesheets and images. Very easy to implement and actually should already be there.
