  1. If there is one thing that is clear from the north south argument going on here, it's that we should all count ourselves lucky to have access to 100's of kms of trails in the respective provinces. That in itself is super cool but comes with the responsibility of respecting the privelge and acknowledging you are on someone else's property. It's a simple concept but obviously not that simple for all to understand. Hopefully the rogue element won't ruin it for everyone
  2. Navworld service is fantastic! Ordered online from them yesterday morning and the product reached my desk within 24hrs. Awesome stuff
  3. Haven't kept tabs on this thread so totally missed your post. Even though this is way late, it looks like you needed to print this plate
  4. In case anyone wants to make use of it, I can send you the 3D file I put together for the FD cover plate (added a pic of what it looks like). I used online software to create it (TinkerCAD) and am by no means a pro in this area but what I designed worked for me. The file is .obj format. If I recall, it fits a M6 countersunk screw (think it was 15mm long) I can't attach the 3D file here but can email it to you, so PM me if interested.
  5. Out of interest, do you store your bike with the post lowered or extended? Not sure if there is much value in it, but read that keeping the post in the lowered position for extended periods of time can place strain on the seals given the increased pressure
  6. Can also look at the maxxis highroller2 up front and aggressor on the rear. Heard good things about the combo
  7. When looking for a new helmet something I have come to consider important is making sure replacement inner pads are easy to come by. I have the IXS trail RS helmet which has been great (comfy and well vented) but finding replacement pads has been nigh on impossible. Had a back order for pads since July this year, beginning to look at alternatives for that reason alone...
  8. Wondered if you had seen this Hairy. Rode past it as well, although I didn't stop to chat to the PO. Guess we need to be even more vigilant if this is what can go down of the cycle path...hefty
  9. It's been mentioned elsewhere before, and granted it is a US site, but check out this website https://www.bicyclebluebook.com Might give you an idea of what is a fair price to ask.
  10. Anyone know if the Maxxis Minion SS is available locally yet? That with the HR II looks like it could be a winning combo
  11. I think that light is already on sale. But as indicated in the original post, it applies to Pedros tools and GUTR products. Don't think it is a site wide discount
  12. In case anyone is interested, there is a closing down sale on Pedros products at bikegoodies.co.za. Use the coupon code 'closeout' when checking out to get a 55% discount. Received the below email from them: bikegoodies.co.za and Cycleman Close Down SaleDue to extremely difficult market conditions and difficulty in breaking into the SA Cycling scene due to exorbitant marketing costs we have decided to discontinue offering Pedro's Bike Care and SweatGUTR products to the SA Market. To try and recoup a small portion of our large investment (over R2 million invested in stock and marketing) we are offering our remaining stock to people who have purchased our products in the past at an amazing 55% discount off our standard retail prices. To get this discount follow this link to our online store or if you are security conscious go to bikegoodies.co.za and add the items you need to your shopping cart. At checkout use coupon code "closeout" to apply the 55% discount. Please feel free to pass this amazing, once in a life time offer, on to friends and family.
  13. In case anyone wants to stock up on bike-specific workshop tools, a 55% off special on Pedros tools can be found here http://bikegoodies.co.za/ using the coupon code "closeout" at checkout. Never bought from the site myself, but it's hard to argue with the prices once discount is applied!
  14. Reference to DSTV in this thread are 2011 costs...this thread wasn't exactly started this year
  15. Cycle Factory in Montague Gardens is a good option and not too far from Goodwood.
  16. You mean to tell me Silverback have moved away from the one and only best way to mount a rear shock?!?!
  17. I prepared one before but never ended up using it as a shop helped me in the end when I did my build. I followed the tips on this site http://www.hackracer.com/2012/02/make-your-own-crown-race-setting-tool.html
  18. SeanNew2Ride, a bit of shameless self promotion here, but I have a new Spank Spike 50mm stem for sale https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/212834-stems/ Know it's not the cheapest option if you're still in testing phase, but you can PM me if you're interested
  19. I fully agree with the highlighted point, but I would think if you are buying "blind" from a reputable bike store you would have more faith in the quality of what you are buying. Not lekker to open a box all excited and have your heart drop when you discover the contents in poor, unworkable condition. DoubleJ, name the place so we all know who to be wary of
  20. Totally! Plus blaming bad light is not the strongest argument in the Cape in the beginning of March. Unless it was close to 8pm the sun should still have been shining plenty to see the wheels just fine
  21. He wouldn't be the first seller to not use his own photos in the ad. Surely if you inspect the item you want in person you can then decide whether the seller and items are genuine or not? If the wheels were shipped across country then maybe the use of alternative pics would be more problematic
  22. KOTD, I am on your side with this. The buyer paid his school fees in some form or another and should move on. He has no right to raise issue 6 months later as far as I'm concerned. It has been discussed at length in other threads of the value of the rating system as it remains one of the only ways to sift through the bad sellers on this site (apart from the Rouxjie rule of course). If we start to doubt the rating system, albeit that it is not obligatory to complete following a transaction, then it would seem we would play roulette every time we pursue a purchase through the classifieds. I like to think that transacting with a rated seller holds some sort of weight
  23. Even so, the question remains as to why the buyer took 6 months to figure his issue with the wheels out ...
  24. ADVR, what was the reason for taking a screenshot of the ad and hanging onto it for 6 months? This is generally not common practice IMO
