  1. The downside to the new Process line for me is the seem to have canned the 111 for 2018 and rather gone for the long travel option as a standard. The Hei Hei range is apparently meant ti full the short travel gap, but its definitely not as burly as the Process range. Hopefully a short travel Process 29er gets released by Kona soon. Full release of the new Kona lineup set for next Tuesday, 12 September

  11. The Fox Launch Enduro pads might fit your bill and budget https://www.foxracing.co.za/Launch-Enduro-Knee-Pads-181080.html I find they do get pretty warm but I haven't found it unbearable. Apart from that they are hardly noticeable and offer reasonable protection, but I wouldn't consider them to be the best option for protection from rocks. Also check out this thread for ideas https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/165706-lightweight-knee-pads/?hl=knee%20pads
  12. There are some options from POC through PureMotion Sports as an alternative https://www.puremotionsports.co.za/product-category/bike-wear/ Haven't yet bought from the site so can't comment beyond the option being available
  13. I use the Fox Launch Enduro knee pad which I find relatively lightweight. They are the only pair I have owned so don't have anything to compare it to, but my thoughts are they fit comfortably but get very warm on a longer ride. I also don't think they will offer much protection in a proper off in a rock garden for example, but offer decent enough protection for a slide out type off. Certainly no hardshell in them! My interest has recently turned to the Leatt Airflex Pro pads https://www.leatt.com/shop/body-protection/knee-leg-3df-soft/knee-guard-airflex-pro.html Available locally, seem to have a more protection than the Fox pads I have and appear to be relatively lightweight. Interested if anyone has used/is using these
  14. Given all the recent posts, I assume 2018 models can be selected from by the prize winner (presume this is what all the change in models is a result of - 2018 models being released)? Or will the prize need to be selected from existing 2017 stock?
  15. I laughed at the bar comment Turns out the Citius is only available in the smaller tyre size, whoops my bad. Should investigate more before posting silly comments! But yeah, maybe dropping the pressure will help. I found it made a difference and had no sketchy slips on a very wet ride at Conties this past weekend
  16. Have the same tyre, never experienced these issues in those areas at Conties. I am however running the 27.5 version on my Scout, while I assume you're running a 29er on your Smuggler? Not sure that would have much influence though, but maybe it would. I do also find I can run the pressure pretty low on Flow Ex rims, which made a difference to the grip on offer in my experience. I run the Citius at 18psi, upwards of 21psi made for a very different less predictable experience for me
  17. Heheh, nothing like some winter psycho riding! Shot for the input. New rear tyre sounds like the way to go
  18. Riding a Transition Scout with Flow EX rims. Been leaning toward keeping the Citius up front but was also interested if anyone has used it as a rear tyre. Agree with your sentiments regarding a faster rolling rear tyre though, found the Ibex I'm currently using has plenty grip but the rolling resistance is noticeable Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using Tapatalk
  19. Looking for opinions on tyre combos as I'm after a new rear tyre. Running a Citius up front which is still pretty new and wondering if I should move this to the rear and get a new front tyre or keep it up front and get a new rear tyre...thinking Aggressor for the rear or dhf/magic mary out front. Anyone ridden with the Citius as a rear tyre? Any other combo suggestions? Would prefer something a bit more quicker rolling than the ibex I currently have out back so not sure the Citius would fit that bill. Suggestions welcome
  20. When I had an Ibex out front I ran similar pressures but found most pressures above 22 psi to contribute more to the wash out feeling (especially in loose over hardpack). Now with a Citius out front I have found 18-19 psi to offer a good sweet spot for me. With the Ibex on the back I run it at 28-30 psi without any noticeable issues. And I sit on the heavier end of rider weight...
  21. Those look kiff! Are they Michelins?
  22. I've noticed the resale trend creeping in again and wondered, what ever happened to the prolific Mr Christmas Tree?
  23. Thanks, useful to know but still think your waist sizing needs review. 38mm is even smaller than cm, pretty sure you are meaning to add inches (in) as the metric for sizing
  24. Bicyclegear, I think your sizing chart for the MTB baggy needs to be reviewed in terms of waist size. Don't think are many real life people who have waists from 28-36cm... The baggy looks good and your efforts to use a sustainable conscious product is rad, but I will wait for a colour other than grey. Grey is not the most forgiving of sweat marks and I would rather not look "a bit damp" while riding.
  25. There should have been an extra category of 'Value' under Verdict. R399 for a pair of socks is pretty weak value as far as I'm concerned, regardless of how comfy they are
