  1. Shot Cpt. Makes the decision a shedload easier
  2. Anyone tried the Continental Der Baron (29er) as a front tyre? Thinking of giving it a try over the Magic Mary, but it's an expensive experiment and the Mary seems like the more logical choice. Nevertheless, looking to see what the opinions are.
  3. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I've previously been charged 20% duty on tools...
  4. Puremotion offer 25% off the retail price for POC crash replacement https://www.puremotionsports.co.za/crash-replacement-policy/
  5. I don't think anyone is dissing the club or suggesting there isn't variety. What the TMTBC offer and have organised in terms of a trail network is amazing and their support for the sport is certainly not in question (well to my mind at least). But (being Devil's advocate here) as arguably the biggest club in the world and with a variety of trails as well as sponsorship of local events, should we not then see more representation of riders from this club competing on the world stage? Personally I haven't seen much of this and international representation is surely the ultimate indicator of what your efforts have contributed to the sport (IMO). When it comes to trail features it would essentially be cool if there were options for progression on the trails themselves and not just within the skills park. As an example, would it not be useful to have a mini widow maker next to the main challenge to encourage less experienced riders to learn how to conquer it as opposed to only having the main widow maker and a chicken line right around everything challenging? Does the skills park offer obstacles that you could learn on and then take straight to the trail confidently (it's all about confidence after all)? Or would the widow maker always just be this scary feature that will never be tried because there is nothing to help one learn on? It's not just about being adding in more huge features and boost massive air, it's about being able to develop technical bike handling skills and that's where I think the trails lack a bit of progressive diversity. Just to reiterate, TMTBC do a great job of affording access to land that would otherwise be inaccessible and the volume of trails is amazing. I'm not dissing them and they deserve all the kudos for this...but my thoughts as to the litmus test for a network of trails is not how many km's they offer but rather how many km's they offer that afford a rider progressive technical skills learning opportunities. And technical doesn't mean having to be airborne, it can be just as much fun learning how to carve your way through rocks and roots (granted the latter is limited in the Tygerberg Hills, just adding the example). I suppose it's horses for courses in some ways but maybe also some food for thought
  6. If you're looking for a reasonably quick sale I would hazard a guess that somewhere around R12-13k will see it snapped up. If you're wanting to maximise returns then you can perhaps try squeak out R15k given it's a new front triangle. But considering the seat and chain stays are older and the shock has presumably seen a fair few hours of use, I would lean toward asking for the lower amount. Well that's what would pique my interest as a buyer
  7. From the TMTBC rules (http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/clubrules.html): Trail Running No trail running on any of the TygerbergMTB club and associated singletrack is allowed. Land access has been negotiated for mountainbiking where members are clearly identfiable via bike boards only. Bloemendal and Meerendal do however allow running on the jeeptracks on the respective farms. Edit: This does not count for Majik forest which is public land and hikers/runners/walkers/dogs are allowed.
  8. Also bought from them before on a few occasions (cycling shoes and baggies). Wouldn't post it otherwise
  9. The Uvex Jakkyl HDE helmet available at Flook for R2229 if anyone is interested. Seems a good deal to me! https://www.flook.co.za/product/uvex-jakkyl-hde-enduro-mtb-helmet-black
  10. Just as I've started using that route again...dammit! Sorry to hear of your ordeal, glad it ended mostly OK. Sucks though

  12. Have you tried contacting Pyga direct? sales@pygaindustries.com
  13. Sounds like a lot of hubbers will be riding/commuting on Cannondale Trail 7 or Trail 5 bikes in the not too distant future
  14. I've always struggled with finding a variety of shoes to try, but that's because practically no one brings my size in locally anymore (EU49 - plus my feet are wide). Ended up risking an online purchase through Amazon but only because they had a ridiculous special on a pair of shoes that looked like I would have better success with fit purely because they looked more foot shape to me (if that makes sense). I lucked out and they have been one of the best fitting cycle shoes I've had. But it was a risk and I only took it because of the price and being at my wits end in trying to find a shoe locally that fit! The shoes in question are Pearl Izumi X-Alp Summit. If you have a more "normal" shape foot that falls within more regular sizing then perhaps buying online is less of a risk. Trying on before you buy can't be beat but unfortunately I find local options for this fairly limited. You generally have to request a store to bring in the shoe for you to try on as stock is not regularly carried.
  15. Even if the 2018 model retails for R32k, it's likely not even you paid that for it new (assuming your struck a deal for a sale - as we all do). The 2019 models are also soon to be released to market so the price for a new 2018 will likely drop even lower and perhaps closer to your asking price (guess +/- R24k). Add that XL's are a more niche market and it makes things tricky. I also doubt 2015 Trances sold for as much as what you're asking for yours...they may have been advertised for more but I suspect the final selling price was lower. Cash is king and what not. If you're looking for a quick sale you will likely have to make peace with the lowest amount you'd be "happy" to take
  16. Ride an XL and battled with selling my previous bike (also an XL)...until I dropped my price to being a steal. If you're selling second hand I've come to realise it's because you're doing just that, selling, and not because you're using the funds to sponsor the next project. The second hand market is not a place to try make money or recoup funds, imo at least.
  17. My readmission to 11029 ownership. Built the bike up have a stronger trail than XC orientation. Still such a ripping fun ride
  18. I run the 2.3 SS on 30mm internal rims and similarly haven't noticed any significant squaring off of the side nobs
  19. Here you go http://trailtechcycles.co.za/product/composite-pedal-oneup-components/
  20. The eye to eye is 200mm and it has a 57mm stroke (200x57) Saw it on page 183 of this thread
  21. I would suspect the Debonair can only really improved small bump sensitivity with the increased volume it offers. There isn't much adjustment available on the Monarch beyond the realtively simple compression and rebound settings. I've wondered if anyone has changed to the DB Inline or Fox Float DPX2 as I would think that would be a more significant change.
  22. Why not just get local wheels from Rapide (https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-tr27-30-trailracer-wheelset/) or Lyne Components (https://www.on-lynecomponents.com/collections/wheels/products/amp-30-alloy-wheelset-27-5) They will cost around the same when you add the cost of shipping from CRC (40GBP I think) and if you get local at least you know you have support if something goes pear shape. Also look at this thread with recent CRC experience and additional costs to look out for https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/175651-experience-with-crcs-move-from-dhl-to-skynet/
  23. For Pyga OneTen owners...has anyone upgraded or changed their shock from the Monarch? If so, what do you currently run?
  24. Thanks. I based the calculation on what was available in the first post on this thread. While 0.001 will make a difference, as you say, it won't be that significant in the scheme of things
  25. With the local increase in VAT, is the new total price calculation as follows: TP = (Item price + duty) x 1.164
