  1. The brand went through a number of distributors over the last decade in SA. I think this inconsistency has something to do with their current market share. Trek took over directly a few years ago and, from my perspective at least, they have steadied the ship and are looking to grow.
  2. We removed that particular ad on suspicion of it being a scam.

  4. I saw a swimmer in the backline yesterday afternoon. The cops seem to be preventing people from going for walks and generally loitering on the sand. Although the police have said that they do consider entering the water to be prohibited, they haven't bothered enforcing it except for the little incident on Monday morning.
  5. Assuming rider weight is the same The current crop of e-road bikes are around 13-14 kg. Paint them all with the same brush? I think there might be some confusion or lack of distinction between e-moped type vehicles and recreational/ commuter e-bikes.
  6. To further confuse, that is for unassisted bicycles. Where does an assisted system fit it that? Because assisted vs unassisted are very different machines. Also, 25km/h is slower than many people's average speeds on a road ride. That needs to go up.
  7. Just to clarify the Bike Hub Plus advert removal. Direct sold adverts from the bike industry are not blocked on Bike Hub Plus by default. We appreciate that people like to see these. It is the adverts that follow you around from site to site that are blocked. There is an opt-in option for BH Plus members to further remove the direct sold adverts too and be completely ad free.
  8. So a beach is sandy or pebbly. Would entering and exiting the water from a rocky shoreline be prohibited? I promise not to linger there with my skottel and umbrella, just passing through.
  9. That would be useful. It won't happen immediately but I've added the suggestion to our feature request board.
  10. Seeing as we have to ride at 6am tomorrow. An earliest start time of 20:30 is a bit late, isn't it? Unless that is all changing tomorrow
  11. Thanks for all the bike photos everyone! It has been enjoyable tuning in to see what everyone is riding. Here is the official announcement of the prize winners: https://community.bikehub.co.za/features/_/competitions/backyard-bike-checks-congratulations-to-our-winners-r8126
  12. We usually take the photos in the race village between stages in the evenings. So it never got made.
  13. This bike was at the top of our 2020 Epic Bike Check list. Sadly, not to be.
  14. I need to qualify my comment with "the information contained in or provided from or through my comments do not intended to be and do not constitute financial advice".
  15. From the pricing of upcoming MY2021 bikes that I've seen, you're going to need a sizeable disposable income to ride new bikes and parts. If you're happy not being on the latest and greatest model, make a plan with the end of season sales happening now.
  16. Shimano also announced flat mount MTB brakes for XC frames and no doubt riders will fit them to their (flat bar) gravel bikes too.
  17. Done. But you can do it yourself by editing your first post and then clicking Use Full Editor. Also added "Industries" just to make it super clear about what's being discussed
  18. https://www.gov.za/sites/default/files/gcis_document/202004/43258rg11098gon480.pdf I think the above document is it but the download is soooooo slow, it's taking forever to load to the relevant sections to confirm. EDIT: Finished download. Yeah, this seems to be the latest regulations. Page 24 has the allowed industries.
  19. You'll find them here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/185156-coronavirus-lockdown-and-exercising-outdoors/ I moved the most recent comments in an attempt to keep the lockdown and exercising discussion in one place. Comments specific to the PPA suggestions are still welcome here.
  20. At least we must all go out together at the same time ????
  21. But the rims say 29 on them Love the Marzocchi gold.
  22. Wow, that's tricky timing. Tell him to hang in there as long as possible. All the best to you and the family!
  23. I think you misunderstood me. I accepted your point first time around. My follow up comment wasn't about me or you. I was thinking about people who don't have cars or struggle to cover the costs (some people are without incomes during this time). There are lots of them in this country. Probably even the majority. I was just noting that the lockdown regulations don't give these people many guidelines on how to act. There's lots of stuff about motorized transport though and even a number of exceptions to cater for it. For example, it could be a good idea to guide people (or even regulate) on which side of paths and roads to walk on when going in a direction, like cars. This could avoid unnecessary passing.
  24. Sensible approach. Somewhat related. I might have missed it but the press coverage and regulations have been a bit vague on non-motorised transport. Not everyone has a car or can afford to run it right now. I'm assuming that is alright if you don't have any other means of moving around.
  25. Any indication whether we can jog to the shops to get necessary groceries or will it have to be done at a walking pace? Not looking for excuses to do exercise. I'm all for following the rules. Just don't want to waste it in a car, if I don't have to.
