  1. interested in the Fannyback. Are they available in SA or only over seas?
  2. Aren't they essentially the older OEM Fox 36 (think it was the performance one with the black stanchions) that are now available as a retail option now the 2019 36's with the Grip2 damper and additional adjustably have been released?
  3. Thanks so much, I've been wiped out by a virus and pneumonia for 3 weeks now haven't been near a bike in 4 weeks. I'd like to say I'm going to be fired up and raring to go on race day but in truth I can't even walk around the shops without it taking me down.
  4. What happens if you can't ride the event? Will the entry be forfeited or can you transfer it to someone else?
  5. William @ Williams Bike Shop in Somerset West or Stoke for MTB in Cape Town.
  6. No. It is enduro. It says so on the tittle and has the same colours on the logo as the EWS stuff so it's proper #enduro. So you need to kit up. Goggles, MX kit, pads & armour, all colour coordinating and because it's enduro you need a Fox 36 (or pike minimum) and as much travel as possible. Anything less than 150mm and you'll be putting your life on the line. Forget geometry or sense you just need to get as much travel in because you can never have 'too much bike' in #enduro. Short travel trail bike? Forget what the makers have designed, the hard thought out R&D and just strap more travel front and back as you can. If it's got #enduro on the cover then you know it's not that xc bermfest. This is different Tygerberg, this is #enduro tygerberg.
  7. I thought Omnico sent all their servicing there anyway. Or was it that Omnico service sent everyone there anyway.
  8. When I have children they will get one of these & a lift to tokai
  9. What size would a 5'9 guy want to ride? It's pretty much on the cusp of M & L.
  10. Not the flashiest helmet in the world but at R700 (65% off @ CRC) it's got good coverage and good protection & I've got money to upgrade my full face.
  11. I have been riding with the Minion DHF on the front wheel & a Minion SS on the rear. Both EXO casing & have been very happy. Previously I was riding on a summer mix of Onza Ibex on the front wheel & Specialized Slaughter which I actually preferred. It was a very fast rolling combination and gave a lot of grip in places like Jonkershoek & Tokai - AM / Cobra / DHs. Quite susceptible to correct pressures on the Ibex. A little to high, it wasn't a great tyre but get it right & it is great. A lot of people dismiss them but I think that is because they have not got their sweet spot found. The Grid casing was good & not to heavy, price was fantastic. Never had a puncture, a rip or any issues in the two year they were on my 29 bike.
  12. Dial it backwards as Transition are drip feeding their 2018 models and the Sentinel looks a beast even for those waking up and riding whistler and NS steeps every morning. The 2018 Smuggler on the other hand looks like it could be a perfect bike for SA trails and 90% of the enduros here (Ezel and superenduro excluded but would still cope well) where frankly 150+ bikes are not exactly needed as you're not rock rolling, hucking gaps and when geo and clever design can deliver a hard hitting playful short travel weapon. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/smugglin-transitions-abg-across-the-rockies-video.html
  13. There, as a business owner I fixed that for you.
  14. Congratulations. How did I miss that one. The search continues.
  15. Nice! Where from?
  16. New 650b squish.
  17. What bike is it going on? Not that it matters but it's always good to get an idea. I tend to go for a faster rear tyre but I know alot of people want big grip both ends. I'm a fan of the combo rear tyres like the Spez Slaughter, Schwalbe's Rock Razor or the Maxxis Minion SS because you get fast and then when you lean it over there is a lot of traction. With the weather getting a bit damper / wetter / slidey they might not be ideal. Was looking at some of the other Spez offerings and a WTB Wolverine but ended up getting a 2.4 Ardent for the rear to match up with a Citius for winter. Both 2.4. Could be a bit more of a hand brake than I'm used to but we'll see. These are to go on a Spez Enduro running Flow mk3 rims.
  18. Cheeky Hijack: all this talk of Vorsprung reminded me I had a Corset air can in the draw for a Fox rear shock so I've put it up for sale. Fitted and ridden once to an RP I was selling to see what it was like. Was keeping it for another RP I was getting but ended up getting a killer deal on a Monarch Deb' that meant I was left with the corset. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/245514-vorsprung-corset-air-sleeve-for-fox/
  19. Awesome. Need to get in on one of these.
  20. There is a big difference here between riding illegal trials and riding without a permit. Permits aren't that hard to get and if you are buying for a year then it's a bit of foot work once a year not the end of the world. I actual think that there are very few riders I have passed on table mountain who are only riding enough to need a day permit. The rangers were out at the epic dh / plum pudding section yesterday. There were a lot of riders on serious bikes who we're seasoned riders moaning that they couldn't get a day pass on a weekend. More than one group I see on a lot of the weekends. How ever stupid the rules are they are the rules and TMNP doesn't have to let us ride there. Obey the rules and if you don't like the system then actually join those people who put a lot of effort into the thankless task of trying to change the rules and get more trails for everybody to ride.
  21. What does 'Dibs' mean then? I thought it was 'I want it & I'll take it, read your messages' on adverts that don't have a contact number.
  22. Any plans for a CT session?
  23. Well done to all involved. Great effort and has made that part of the trail super rippable. Rode it a little before the improvements and it was always felt like training. Not
