Good idea. The coupling to the bike is the part I'm battling to envisage at the moment.

I missed out on the trailer in the classified last week and haven't been able to find one since. Absolutely regarding the suspension. Our dogs are our children so safety is a priority - not too sure about helmet for dog though . She will be wearing a pair of tackies for Karoo thorns!

Does anyone have any experience of design of bicycle trailers that they can share? I'm looking to tour with my dog (border collie) and need to build one. It will be predominantly dirt road touring. I've seen the child carriers that can be purchased, but I'm not sure that they will withstand a couple of thousand kms of dirt road.

Excellent - always happy to be a good influence! I was doing the 1000 Miler (Massive Adventures). It was unsupported and you chose your own route from JHB to CT(obviously no N roads allowed). I stuck quite far west and saw parts of the Karoo that have only been a map to me before. There are some stunningly beautiful places in the Karoo. Tucked away valleys most people don't know exist. Shout if you want gpx tracks.

The vast majority of other handlers are very supportive, but Gracie (or any other dog without papers) can not represent SA at the World Champs as she is a mixed breed. Seems ludicrous to me, but that's the rule.

Our little rescue dog, Gracie, won her 15th Agility Championship show on the weekend, thus becoming a Grand Champion. She also turned 10 last week. Not bad for a dog from an animal shelter.

My bike set up for the 1000Miler in 2 weeks time. Note the seat bag made by Sepia. Works like a bomb.
