  1. Thanks for joining me this morning Peter. Wow, I cant believe how tired we were today. Just had my other elite bud smsing me to ride tomorrow morning. Flip, so tempted to go. They are going to go check out the new westcoast express route. I was so tempted, but I am sure that I would die if I went out again with these broken legs.
  2. Good stuff. Seems like other people are scared to get up early. Personally, I think it is such a great time to ride.
  3. Going to do the same thing this weekend again. Anyone keen to join me?
  4. Yep, probably was me then. I go past there when I commute. You commuting?
  5. Could have been. Did I have a light flashing on my head?
  6. Cool Next week the same thing if we can. We need to make sure that the club goes upto the N7 everytime. It adds some more hill in and it adds about another 30 min or so to make it 2 hours with them. Maybe we should even get it put onto the newsletter? You know Rodney better than I do, dont you maybe want to drop him a email and tell him that if anyone else is keen they must just meet us there? Will be even better in a bigger group.
  7. Good going man! Thats some nice distance. Yes we ended up doing about 110km. Would have been about 130 I recon (and including kloofneck), but it got cut short a bit when one of the guys pedals snapped in two. (aftermass of the bus hitting his bike) Luckily I had some threaded tape with me, so we stuck the two bits together and we managed to get back to table view to swap out his pedals for his mtb ones so we could carry on a bit before the group ride. Oh yes! We rode alot of the way on the new bicycle lanes towards town, and apart from the poles which could smack you stupid it is very nice. Have to admit that the group ride got a bit tough towards the end. Having 4 hours on my legs and then the group ride guys were still working hard in a through and off echelon. The club ride guys had less than half the time on then, so it was tough to stay at race pace and couple of them are also league riders. The group ride also made a trip up to the N7 (from the westcoast rd) and it is a nice steady gradient that hurts going up at speed. But at the end of the day, that is why I am doing this to myself. If I can finish a solo ride + a club ride(at pace) then I should be fresh at the end of a 3 hour race. (Well thats the idea at least!)
  8. Look, I should be fine. And I normally feel better in the morning anyway. But if I do feel really bad tomorrow morning, I will rather sms you guys than let you stand there waiting for no one.
  9. You can sleep in the plane! So ill see you there then B)
  10. What about till 7am then only? .... Come on...
  11. Cool. Peter..... Sat 4.45. Fri 4.45 till Sat 7.00 is going to be a very long ride to meet up with the outies afterwards. I am feeling a bit offish this morning. Not sure if it is allergies or a flu. But I will sms you guys when I wake up if I am going to call it off. So if you dont hear from me by 4am or so then the ride is still on.
  12. Weather looks fine. http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=206959 Feel sorry for anyone riding on sunday though. The wind looks a bit rough.
  13. Yep, table view is flat. I may tackle a hill or two in the beginning, but then the club ride always follows the same route down to duinefontein and back. Two weeks ago a group of us in the faster group took a detour on the way back and we road upto the N7 as well, which is a nice little dragging hill all the way up. Look, the other option is that if we get enough riders, we could go and do the new westcoast express route which does have a climb on it now. But we will have to have enough riders to be on the westcoast road at that time in the morning.
  14. You heading out to the westcoast? DC training?
  15. Niklas, why dont you come join as well?
  16. Yep. that is my intention. Open to route suggestions. But if the wind is a SE then we could head towards town for just over an hour and then turn around. Or we could do durbanville hills or whatever. Please join in. Get whoever else as well. Pace will be nice and easy. The intention is to ride at a moderate pace for the first bit (talking speed, so not too fast) and then join the legbreakers after that. That will help your legs alot for race preparation where you are normally feeling it the last hour. Most people can ride really hard for 90 odd min or so (because most of our riding is only that length) but anything over that you can feel that you just dont have the edge anymore. So having the hard ride right at the end will do wonders for us. Especially if the group shunts on the way back. You have a light?
  17. Lucky boy. Just wait till you have kids though and everything changes. She is still going to want to sleep till 12 and she is going to want you to play with them when they wake up early...
  18. No, I am whipped. My wife says that if I want to do a training ride on the weekend, I need to be out the house before 5. Kinda do agree with her though. Its not really fair on my family if I am out every single weekend. So are you going to come join me then HeadHunter? Oh, I am doing that LT test tomorrow morning at 6.
  19. Looking at riding from table view early saturday morning - 4.45am. Anyone keen?
  20. Cant see properly but it looks like a single speed. Has anyone here ever been pulled over by a cop on your bike?
  21. Haha. Nice seeing you at the track last night man. Ill see you on sunday.
  22. 6.45 or so.
  23. Get better soon bud! I was really worried when you phoned me and said that you were hit by a bus! But thank you God you are still alive and you will be able to join me again soon. Maybe we should take the mtb's more as well when we can. We wont find any busses in the dirt.... maybe just taxi's So the other big question is..... Are you now going to get those deep sections I have been ragging you about? B)
