  1. haha. 100% I am sure a giro team racing over there will average 40........ Lets just watch the explanations that come out of this one.
  2. 5.40 Theuns! Oh my golly. That is so fast. Sorry boys, I dont think that this is going to help your seeding much. 31km/h average, where I have had days where my granny gear feels tough on that hill..... Looking at the times (at the peoples results to gauge them), if I was in my prime form I dont think I would have done better than 7 minutes, probably closer to 8. Thats a full 2 minute gap. That would probably kick my fat butt back to Z soooo quickly Would like to give this a try ppa, but please let us know slightly ahead of the time next time.....
  3. And when the front sled starts slipping sideways.... Ouch
  4. I am very happy with my 350's. Commute on them, train, race, everything. Right now I am close to 90kg again and with a laptop on back etc commuting they are still cool. Even rode over a half brick once by mistake on the way to work. Still true and happy Had them for about 2 years now.
  5. Except if the likes of colonel goes along and gets to the top two minutes quicker than you, then you are back to square one. Anyone remember the PPA timetrials they had two years back up helshoogte? Scary how quickly the winner got up there. Averaged 30km/h or something. Because the event is so short, seconds just about count like minutes on a long funride.
  6. What if half the spoke was threaded? It could then be cut to size. How much would that really weaken the spokes?
  7. Pulled his brakes? You mean the rider that past him when Lance went in for the sprint too early, turned the corner, wind hit him in the face and blew a head gasket. Good old Malcolm Lange hasnt won over 1000 races in his career for nothing. He is probably one of the best sprinters out there. With all this been said, I am not a Lance hater or lover. I respect the guy for his accomplishments. Even though he doped, He was still the best in the world in his hot days. I do also feel that his presence here will be good for our country, we really need someone like him to come and ride our local races to encourage other international teams to come venture down here as well. Otherwise our country will remain off the international cycling map forever. Yes, maybe he is making money from coming here, but if you look at the bigger picture we are all benifiting a little the more he comes to SA. I want to see cycling become a living room sport as rugby or soccer is in our country. But without a chain reaction effect of some big influence like above that is unlikely to ever happen.
  8. Lovely road. Used to drive it often when we used to go looking for crayfish. Never had the privilage of riding on it, but I will do it oneday. Isnt the road upto the dam from there as well? Steep bugger I hear.
  9. Bit of a long shot - By any chance do you have baby carriers / seats for the bike?
  10. Why? I dont have any reason that I need to do it. 1. Not riding league 2. Too heavy for these hills so there is not a rats ass chance that this will ever be a good seeding ride for me anyway. 3. It is normally more expensive 4. The naval base road is the one piece that tips the scales a bit too much. All the other hills are manageable quick enough, but the grinding low cadence up that road stuffed me up last time. Maybe I will ride it, but right now I dont have any reason to feel inspired to ride it.
  11. Also working.... Fortunately. Dont know if I ever want to ride that again.
  12. In actual fact, has anybody heard from David at all lately? I hope he hasnt been locked up..... I know that he had his court date recently...
  13. I also used to struggle with that. Even doing a killarney wednesday session used to sometimes keep me up till 2 in the morning. Even last year after the DC, I was poop tired, but I just couldnt sleep. But I had so much gels and caffeine etc that it obviously messed me up. But since I changed what I drink to low gi and I dont use caffeine etc anymore I dont have any problems at all.
  14. My wife would seriously kill me if I had to try that.
  15. Ya, was a bit bummed not to be there. So who won the hill sprints? Was that other ex elite super skinny oak there?
  16. Ya, ill see you guys next time. What a beautiful morning it is! Wish I was on the bike now.
  17. Sorry guys. Have to pull out. Been crazy week and I cant fit it in Be safe out there and enjoy it
  18. So anyone keen on doing the shorter loop? Comeon..... Ride to the route and then you will make up the lost mileage. Also we do those wellington roads all year round. Much more prefer exploring some new piece of road even if it is not in the route. How many of you have ridden over malanshoogte down to the dairy and back? http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/south-africa/durbanville/212127988711987954 Quite a nice climb from the dairy side. I would even be more keen to add this in and take out the wellington loop. We come across this road just before the main vissershok climb. Anyone
  19. We will have to ride alot faster to be home early! Then I may not get home at all if we ride that fast .... But I would like to join....... If we can be off by 6 the latest, why not even earlier? Then if I see that we are pushing it for time coming back I will either go home via melkbos or along contermans kloof. Ya, I may be skipping the "good stuff" but lets see what happens time wise etc.
  20. I will give it a try. Will feedback later this week. So why dont we then just hot dip our bikes into oil? It will sort out all the problems then. And it will make JB happy because we are using oil on our chains
  21. Wow, that is very weird. On a part that doesnt move. Doesnt really make much sense.
  22. I have had this type of clicking for about a year now. As soon as any pressure is on the pedals there it goes and creaks! I finally gave up trying to find the source and decided that I will know what it was when it eventually breaks. Hopefully it is not the frame or fork...... But keep this thread rolling. Maybe oneday I will feel like wasting my time looking for it again.
