  1. The gruber assist is the only one that we know about. If it could be built for 31.6mm' date=' it could be built for anything. Making the conspiracy even deeper. Batteries could even be stored in the frame where it runs from the crank to headtube. Throw in some nice light batteries in the construction of the frame, no one will ever know about it. [/quote'] Maybe... the frame IS the battery! when constructing the frame they added a couple of Li-Ion wraps to the carbon!!! Genius! ? Even better, the frame is a solar panel ? ? Haha! This is so funny. We all seem to like the "science fiction" side of things! But back to reality. Solar panels embedded in the carbon maybe could give you a extra 20 watts. Solar technology has really made some big gains in the last few years. So, not a bad idea actually. How small do you think that they could build a motor to give something small like 20 watts or something? Small enough to fit into the BB itself maybe? It could then go totally undetected. 20watts over the duration of a pro tour could make a major difference on the last day. Well I suppose the motor could BE the BB... And by weaving a solar panel into the back of his shirt you could effectively double the "solar panel area". That's why he didn't stand up, because the shirt panel connects to the bike through his shorts and saddle... & maybe he uses transponder gel as bum cream so that the electricity can flow straight from his shirt into his bike. Being serious now. Has anyone else ever been shocked when cycling under power lines? It has happened to me a few times and to a couple of my friends. Not huge, but it makes you weary of touching anything metal for a couple of seconds. Why does it happen?

  3. No... We don't have the technology yet... I agree. I think a cyborg would have been able to have won the argus......

  5. It could be true. At the end of the day even if it only provided 20 extra watts of power to the pedals it will make a big difference over the hour. A motor that size and a small lipo battery pack could be hidden away so so easily in the downtube. Small remote controlled switch could easily be consealed in the bars and under the tape. They are building bikes so so light that they could have easily chopped and changed some components to get the bike back to the 6.8kg even with the battery and motor. Maybe they should even start making motors an optional thing? Imagine the kind of technology that would come out of that in a few years. It would be the commuters ultimate dream. It would also add a extra twist onto road cycling, making it even faster and more entertaining.
  6. No they are not sticky. How does it work - the steeper your angle the more responsive your bike? Hense racing frames will have steeper angles? or is it the other way around?
  7. Always wondered about this as well. Always thought it had something to do with geometry. MTB, no hands is easy easy. Road bike is very hard and I dont risk it. Also I have noticed that the faster you are going the easier it becomes. Why is that? Is the wheel acting like a flywheel then?
  8. Yep. Just on 19 and 20. We need to see the bigger events giving proper prize money to the winners. In that way the effect would trickle down more to league events as well. If we start paying good money it will make sure that we keep some of our pros in the country. Hense those pros will go to olympics etc and they wont be sucked up by another country etc. Also a big pay off is if we start paying proper money then we will have more international tours. Hense more tourism money, more international exposure. More upgrading of roads, better attitude from non-cyclists. If we had pro tours here, then cycling could become a household name in south africa like our other sports. More interest = more money at the end. As it always is, it takes a bit of outlaying of money if you expect to get more back. But thats how it works in life. Look at the Giro. They almost pulled the plug because they never had R150K to support the event. That is absolute chicken feed compared to the 5 million that they are supposedly putting back into development. They should be putting at least 1 mill towards having 2 pro tours a year at least for starters. That should secure some prize money and some decent international riders.
  9. ? Back from cycling, awesome.? No snakes.? I decided that the day is to nice to wait for 13h30., so left a hour early. I think I should come work for koeberg as well.
  10. Cant we do this for road events as well and build a proper system?
  11. ? ? ? I know because I work at Koeberg.? I believe the real reason is for security' date=' no visitors arouns plant during WC.[/quote'] Ah! Must be for security.
  12. Awesome. Goes hand in hand with what people were saying here https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=84286 Once they have enough results in their database and seedings then they can make PPA use those results as MTB seedings.
  13. How did you find out that it will be closed? And has anyone ever seen anyone from koeberg out in the tracks? I mean if you got stuck out there you are stuck. Unless you see another rider. I have never seen them patrol or anything.
  14. And now you are probably going to say that you are not excepting my R200 notes either.....
  15. Thats so funny. I come past your work every morning. I just miss your office on the way home. I like to come out at florence rd because there is a 4 way stop. Otherwise cars dont give you a chance. Isnt there a doctor at that corner where you work? It would then just be easier to meet up closer to your side. Maybe on the corner of florence? Ill pm you my number quick. Reply back with yours. Then I can sms you when leaving and I will be there within 3-5 min I recon. (depends on crossing the rd and robot)
  16. I did cycle in this AM. I was thinking about taking the car home after looking at the weather prediction they are predicting rain, snow for tomorrow. I took a good look at windguru now though and it seems that the rain should only get bad tomorrow afternoon which means that I can cycle in again tomorrow and then take the car home. Where is DF malan? I probably cycle past it, but I am so focused on the traffic that I seem to miss landmarks. Otherwise, why dont you come down to the sanlam building and then you can add a extra few km to your ride? I will send you a easy map of how to get here. Where do work?
  17. Ok, I generally get away at around the same time. So we can definitely do this now and then. Which building you in? How soon are you keen to start? Do you need to make special arrangements to make this work?
  18. And that is why all our best riders are leaving the country. If south africa's "trademark" road race cant even set the example of how we should look after our local guys then what future is really being paved out for our development riders that the ppa is pumping money into. It is like putting someone through college when you damn well know that there is going to be no jobs for them when they qualify. And if you are lucky enough to finish very top of your class then just maybe you can work overseas for a few years but otherwise you pretty much have nothing. If the big races start looking after our locals properly the effect will trickle down into other leagues as well.
  19. ok. Well if I want to get in a longer ride I will let you know then we can meet up in the morning. If you ever want to do a short morning ride, and leave by 6.30 let me know and I can make arrangements at home to leave a bit earlier. I can always pop in at gym then or something if I have extra time to kill. What time do you leave in the afternoon?
  20. That is so funny! Where do you work? I normally leave at around 7, from my house. I live almost on the corner of gie and raats. What time do you need to be at work? Do you have showers there?
  21. Hey Hairy, No, I go to belleville. So koeberg rd, plattekloof, hendrick verwoed, frans conradie and a cut through the suburb to get to sanlam. Is quite lonely on the road. Just me and a bucket load of cars. Guy who works with me joins me once or twice a week. How many guys join you now?
