  1. You can make it "work" But yes you are going to have a super short stem. Seat all the way forward. Not ideal. Bike will be less responsive than it should be. I rode the wrong size for a long time. But when I went down one it was amazing to feel what I was missing.
  2. Oh the good old seeding chat again. Dont we just love these! Done with good intentions, but in reality provides bad results. Niklas, yes I do agree with your statement on keeping things level through events and then we will see consistant results. But with that statement you just gave it puts Davids seeding model at flaw. I know that you are friends with him, so you dont want to complain much, but it is super clear that things are wrong when you look at how everyone has been moaning for as long as I have been on this site. The winners time should not get played with on a long route with people with a A seeding winning it. They will need to still adjust for events that has lower seeded people winning. But I have seen races that the winners of the race (david george etc those caliber riders) have had their times knocked back a bit. Now if the best riders in this country are getting that time for the race, no body else in the world is going to better it. Look our riders even beat Lance at the argus So rather at the end of the day, we will all be on the same level, for every event. They can always make groups smaller as they go along again. When is this agm? We need to torch I mean attend this meeting. Getting David (frail) onto the board will be a major bonus for us so that we can have our interests represented internally better. Does anyone know how the written nomination thing works?
  3. Morewoodmad, you seem to be on the same route as me. Where do you ride to? I go to belville._ I have to lane split on my bicycle everyday in my commuting. And yes it often means riding between cars that are moving. I rely heavily on cars to indicate before pulling out.
  4. mmmmm..... Riding through a lions den sounds a bit too exciting. Meals on wheels may be the right term! I am happy in cape town thanks! We have the best of all worlds here.
  5. Wow. That is so cool! We really need this to happen.
  6. How much are those?
  7. Yep, It is most probably the spacing. Now dont let that be an excuse for not training tonight ......
  8. haha. This is so funny. JB, Remember I brought up a topic like this a few months ago? Along with me thinking that ultra heavy wheels may be quicker along a TT course or something. We had quite a in length debate when we finally came to the conclusion that lighter is always better, but you can in certain cases sacrifice a little bit of weight to be more aero.
  9. I have the microshift RD on my bike. It has been on there for maybe 8 months and maybe 5000km later and still going well.
  10. My bud used to leave it permanently attached to his shoe. It used to fit through one of the velcro straps.
  11. I am very happy with my compact. 50/34 and 11-23 at the back. Only up very steep inclines (ie. ones that hit 10%)do you end up grinding a bit. But that makes us stronger anyway. Looking at what you do currently have though, if you had to stick a compact on your bike and go to the 11-23 it may be harder than what you used to have. But with that being said, flip, a 34 - 29 would be like mtb granny gear up ou kaap. That is like serious overkill. So if you really really need the easier gears, stick a compact on with a 11-25 cassette and that would be similar to what you are used to. Personally, I think you would be better off on the 23, loose some weight and those hills get a whole lot easier. A close gear ratio on the cassette is so much sweeter to ride on.
  12. Haha.
  13. Does anyone know what they are doing past caltex there on plattekloof road? I commute through there. Terrible section to try to have to get through now. Looks like they are adding another lane, but any plans for a cycle path? Also what is the point of tarring another lane all the way up to the bridge, but without actually extending the bridge first? Now that is going to take another year to get done......
  14. I most probably wont. Damn. Looks like I am never going to get the chance to ride league.
  15. I only renewed yesterday......
  16. What!!! Flip. I am currently in G and I want to join SV this spring. Now I am scared that if I am in the next run then I wont be able to join.....
  17. Dont know. But right now I am scared if they do redo their calculations just incase I go down......
  18. I will also vote for David! What is the date of the AGM again? Need to pop it into my calendar.
  19. I havent renewed yet. Just dont feel the need to yet. I suppose I will be bullied into it when I want to do the first road race, but until then they can wait for my money. Maybe I will still get my seeding (new number) before you guys though.
  20. mmm... That would be very "interesting" coming down sir lowrey though. The other side seems alot safer to decent on. Always some big ass trucks that you need to compete with on there. I would be very keen to join for pieces of this. But I must say the N2 doesnt really feature in my "must ride on list". There is actually a beautiful road from the N2 (just before caledon) that runs to the the other side of villersdorp. You go right past the dam and if it is full you can see some water overflowing. I want to ride it oneday. What about getting a support vehicle in some rides? We all chip in R50 for petrol. Some people really dig riding support like that.
  21. So just hide your bike in the boot then. When you get there the guys will think you are there for the run. Just a few more moving animals to get past on the course. Makes it nice and fun. Has anyone else gone through that mooeeerrssee puddle there? The last time I went through there the water was up to my ankles. (so basically more than half of my front wheel) Was pretty difficult to stay upright. If it was much longer I would have been in some trouble
  22. So when is the big date then?
  23. Thats true. I have given up buying my photos, unless it is a brilliant one. But even then that happens so so seldom anyway. Maybe you guys should even release low quality ones that are good enough for vleisboek, but not good enough for print at a really nice cheap price. (Like even as low as R5) Ronelle does something similar to that, she has some nice pics, the quality is not huge, but good enough to put online etc. You can even buy her race CD I have seen before. There will be far more sales then. Most guys now days just want a small pic(s) to remind them of the race, but very few are going to print them all out now days.
  24. I am currently doing something like this if my weeks goes as planned. I dont ride in the bad rain but otherwise I try to get out there. Monday 1 Hour Cycle (home from work) 1 hour - Gym strength work in the evening (just started doing this and may change the day as well) Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 2 hours a day (Home-work-home) Friday 1 Hour to work Saturday or Sunday, not both days 2-3 hours (I need to step this up though to 4-5 hours soon) So if all goes as planned I am doing around 12 hours a week or so. A bud of mine (rides for cape town market) is doing about 20 hours a week. Hectic.
  25. Nice. I hope that it goes well.
