  1. My wife would seriously kill me if I had to try that.
  2. Ya, was a bit bummed not to be there. So who won the hill sprints? Was that other ex elite super skinny oak there?
  3. Ya, ill see you guys next time. What a beautiful morning it is! Wish I was on the bike now.
  4. Sorry guys. Have to pull out. Been crazy week and I cant fit it in Be safe out there and enjoy it
  5. So anyone keen on doing the shorter loop? Comeon..... Ride to the route and then you will make up the lost mileage. Also we do those wellington roads all year round. Much more prefer exploring some new piece of road even if it is not in the route. How many of you have ridden over malanshoogte down to the dairy and back? http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/south-africa/durbanville/212127988711987954 Quite a nice climb from the dairy side. I would even be more keen to add this in and take out the wellington loop. We come across this road just before the main vissershok climb. Anyone
  6. We will have to ride alot faster to be home early! Then I may not get home at all if we ride that fast .... But I would like to join....... If we can be off by 6 the latest, why not even earlier? Then if I see that we are pushing it for time coming back I will either go home via melkbos or along contermans kloof. Ya, I may be skipping the "good stuff" but lets see what happens time wise etc.
  7. I will give it a try. Will feedback later this week. So why dont we then just hot dip our bikes into oil? It will sort out all the problems then. And it will make JB happy because we are using oil on our chains
  8. Wow, that is very weird. On a part that doesnt move. Doesnt really make much sense.
  9. I have had this type of clicking for about a year now. As soon as any pressure is on the pedals there it goes and creaks! I finally gave up trying to find the source and decided that I will know what it was when it eventually breaks. Hopefully it is not the frame or fork...... But keep this thread rolling. Maybe oneday I will feel like wasting my time looking for it again.
  10. Ill see whats happening this weekend. I know I am sounding like a old granny now..... But anyone keen to shorten the route a bit? I am always pushed for time and I would prefer to not be out for half the day. Instead of turning right off wellington road and across the bridge up and down to the 4 way stop. It may be nice to carry on straight with the road, hang a left before the silos and carry on with the route. I imagine that will cut 35-40km out the route. I would ride there from table view as well, so I will be getting lost the distance back. But at least I will be back home 1.5-2 hours ealier. Let me know if anyone is keen to do the "chicken" run. Even come park in table view and lets do vissershok twice
  11. Well then that is simple. Either go do some hard spinning classes or ride it as hard as you can for an hour. It you can ride at 40 on the indoor bike for an hour, there is no way that you would manage 30 for 3 outside. Intervals on the indoor bike will be benificial as well. Just remember to have rest days if you are doing hard days.
  12. Are you cycling for 3 hours in a gym? Flip. 20 minutes on those bikes is long enough. Why dont you just aim a higher? like 38. If you bomb out then at least you dont have to phone your wife to fetch you then.
  13. I wonder what equipment and riding styles this is based on. I know for instance that old school 32 spoke wheels will take about 30 watts more power to drive at 40km/h than zipp 808's. Tri bars, riding on hoods or in drops are fair differences as well. Looking at the power figures, it reminds me how feabile we are against international pros. Most of the local half decent guys will rake up 400-500 watts on a PPO test. Go and look at power figures from some big races and some of these guys are spending minutes riding above 500 when they weigh less than my garden rake. Another interesting fact. I know that Stefan Ihlenfeldt (CT market rider) his power in a sprint was measured at 1300. Now he is not a big guy at all! I believe around 60kg or so.
  14. If it has an internal tube then it will be a waste of time. If it is one solid tube/tyre that can be plugged then that would be awesome. You would just need to carry a spare foldflat and tube on training rides though.
  15. Was that on the N1? Saw a nasty accident on the N1 close the N7 intersection on sunday morning on the way to the burger. Couldnt make sense of the accident, but if he was driving on the wrong side of the N1 that would make sense. Always nasty seeing dead bodies on the road. Normally see them on the way to races, roads are probably still too full of drunk oaks coming home from somewhere.
  16. I have also been toying with the whole tubbie idea in my head. But, it will just break my heart if I end up killing as many of them as I had punctures this season. I now hate clinchers because I have had flats all season. But I think I will hate tubbies even more if I end up getting flats. I am not convinced that a bit of sealent in a tubby will really do the trick. As Tankman said, he cant see how a bit of slime will seal a 11 bar hole. I agree with that. I didnt realise either that they were fitted with latex inner tubes. I thought that the actual tubby was one piece of material/rubber all the way around. If that was the case, then plugging it would be a good option, but with a seperate tube inside that option is out the window too. Also latex sometimes will just go POP like a balloon. If the hole being made is a little to violent you will loose all the air in one second. Not a good thing at all! So if you could get a tubby that doesnt have a tube inside that you could plug for flats then I think that would be awesome. With a bit of slime in there it would be easy to see the hole and plug it. Right now I am seriously thinking about going tubeless on my clinchers. I believe the tires are expensive and a mission to fit, but any rims could be made to work with them which would be great. A bit of slime in there as well to identify where any holes are and I think that would be a awesome setup. So at the end of the day it would probably weight around or slightly less than running tubes, but then at least you have more options if you have problems. Also dont forget that you may still be able to build your clincher wheelset a bit lighter as well. My sprint 350's - JB recons I could still take 100grams off them by taking off the straight guage spokes. They would probably not be far off tubbie weight then. What to do?........ What to do?........
  17. But he never won the argus though....... I think I know what his last words were.... Frail, I am you father!!!
  18. I have a RC9000 and RM5. Really happy with them. Light enough as well
  19. Awesome. Why worry about the packaging. Its neutral, just a empty bottle will do! A vacuum packed bag in the mail would be even better!
  20. I wish I was sponsored. eerrmmm... hint.... hint Mark..... Unless you are willing to sponsor me Topwine? I am on my second bottle of 32GI that I bought with my own money. This neutral flavour was giving to the 10 first people on the hub from Mark that mailed him after his post the other day. I have read through your previous posts in the past and I know that you like to shoot down this product. I have previously tried many other things, yes even game cooldrink that you recommended in one of your posts. Everything else left my stomach feeling uneasy after the ride and I would always suffer big time towards the end of my longer race. I noticed an immediate difference with this, no uneasyness, sustained and a constant energy supply throughout my ride. Maybe you dont believe me. But I dont care. I know what works 100% for me now and I like to speak about it.
  21. Had a great ride on saturday. Mark, the neutral flavour is great. Where can I get more? Mixed two scoops (that neutral packet) into a hammer bottle (maybe 100ml) drank half on the way to the ride. Drank the other half maybe a hour into the ride. Tasted perfect just like that without being flavoured. Only took one bottle with me as I thought the ride was going to be shorter. But we had some splits in the group and a puncture (not mine for once) and the ride ended dragging on for a hour longer than I thought. Well the last 30 km I had to literally push someone up every hill we went up, so we ended up doing 100km in 4 hours instead of 3. In that time I only had 1 bottle of fluid (32gi) with me and I had mountains of energy in me all the way. Ran out of fluid in the last 5km, but I was fine though. Anyway, I know that I have gloated about this stuff a few times, but I have only ever had amazing experiences when using this stuff. I dont understand how people can moan about this, if it is not working for them then they have to be doing something wrong!
  22. Ah come on guys... Give them some credit.... Maybe they were looking for paperweights to hold down the massive magazines into that stand!
  23. Yep, even cheaper, Coryx flu tablets contains pseudoephedrine. Not illegal, but if its in your blood your in for big ***.
  24. True! I hate that friggin thing. By the time I have changed skewers and set the bike up in front of something to keep me occupied I could have gone out and had half my workout finished by then.
  25. Seriously now... They should start making belt driven bikes with internal gears compulsary for the tour. That would push new tech really quickly and in a few years from now we could have much better gearing systems on our bikes.
