1. Bump. Or in fact 2 (one on each sit bone) Need some advice guys.....
2. I have been thinking about it. They say it is super comfy. But I am that DIY (destroy it yourself) kind of guy. So I wouldnt mind giving the recover a bash. But there is a chance though that I might stuff it up as well I suppose. So does anyone have some leather for me? I will make a post on the hub how to do it then. haha
3. Yep. Yep. You see when I bought it I thought that enough time on the saddle would make it all ok. But it just seems like it is not working that way at all. It is so so super nice to use every day (for shorter rides) But even thinking about doing the DC this year is giving me a sick numbing feeling in my lower regions. So ya, I dont care about the weight anymore, but I cant really afford to buy another saddle, ive just bought a house. So I recon that a piece of leather could work. Anyone have a offcut lying at home for me?
4. Thought about both of those options. SLR is still pricey, even second hand. My saddle is still a bit lighter than it as well. With the padding it will probably be around the same weight and comfort level. But also, who is going to want to buy a saddle anyway that is going to bruise you on long rides?
5. Thanks man. But I am being serious though..... It is very hard. I think some nice white leather over there would look pretty hot. Will match my bar tape then. I was even thinking of doing it myself, but I dont really want to screw it up though. If I had to do it myself, I would maybe use that thin stuff they put under laminated flooring. Just stick one layer of that on and then stretch a piece of leather over that, glue it on and cut to size and fold and glue to the inside. Any ideas? Do you think that foam stuff will work or will it compress? Come on DIY guys.
6. I have a carbon fiber saddle. The kind where you can see the carbon and it has no padding at all. It works great in that I have never had any chaff what so ever. But the bad side is that my bum takes some serious abuse for long rides (3 hours up) You have to take painkillers for the DC. I use it every day, so 8 hours plus a week, but it still makes no difference for the long events. Does anyone know if someone could cover it for me. Maybe just a very thin layer padding and a layer a leather. Even if it is just a little I am sure it will make a difference.
7. Wow, at least you are safe. I never go past du noon.
8. Yep. Already decided that if it is boys and bad wind next year, then I am going to do a booze cruise from the beginning. Pity that I only decided in simonstown to drop off. It would have been so lekker to do it from before wineberg hill because there is such a lekker spirit from there already. Looking forward to sunday, are you? Bit nervous, never done a tight crit. But if anything it will be good for me. Do you think we will even get a chance to drink on the ride? it is going to be a super hard 45 min.
9. ? Breakfast - here. Brunch - there. Lunch - overthere and pudding in Campsbay.... With cokes and messages inbetween. Now you started something! If the SE is going crazy in 2011 - we must do this next year! Im getting hungry already. Im hoping that the wind is going to pump now. haha
10. Yeah! Booze cruise here we come Maybe we should congregate at a restaurant then and make the best of it!
11. ? I am not sure? Might be that the finish moved slightly or something like that. ? <P style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt" =Msonormal>Apparently, over the years, out of a total of 165 000 individual Argus entries, 7900 have done one or more sub 3 hour finishes. <P style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt" =Msonormal>? <P style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt" =Msonormal>For 2011, the big question will be: 1.) will it still go over Boy's Drive; and 2.) if the Falsebay road construction gets stuck between KBay and FishH - what road can be taken? Very small chance of another De-tour?!? Hope not. [/quote'] mmmm.... That will really suck. Well if the route is the same as last year and if I wake up and there is any SE blowing. Then I am going to have another "booze cruise" But what if they do work on the false bay road though? That is going to cause havoc. I mean at the rate that they repair roads here, they may as well change the argus to go down the new westcoast IRT lanes down to melkbos and return over our new M5 flyway But really now. If they end up working on the road closer to fish hoek. Think of the route they might have us on then. M3, Steep OuKaap, Fish hoek or over black hill and then onto the the rest of the race. That will be hectic. I will rather have boys drive anyday then.
12. eerrhmmmm. Well in that case do I get a quadruple bonus as there were two good looking ladies working on me? Oh and a third went to go and get me yet another cup of coke. (Another bonus point?) I was the only person at the massage tent so I got lots of attention. -Some oak was holding my bike all the time -Two chicks working on me -Another one fetching me something cold to drink -When I eventually decided to go and finish the race, they asked if I was sure I could make it. haha. Man, I should stop more It is fun getting looked after. Maybe my aim for the argus next year is going to be very different now Woofie2010-03-16 08:40:46
13. This post is lank late, but better late than never I suppose. Started in F. Stuck with my group till simonstown. I wasnt enjoying the race at all. A couple of people had gone down around me and the whole race just seemed like a bad memory from last year again. So I decided, stuff it. Im not amped at all. Im not enjoying this. I dont care, there is enough other races in the year, I want to just spend the time going at my own pace and look at the view and shout at the crowds. So I did. I spent the last 60km going on my own. Didnt tail the people coming past me. Stopped many times for as much free coke as I could get down me. (I finished with a full bottle of juice still, haha, needed to pee badly then though.....) When I got through to camps bay I decided since I am on the whole freebie thing, I am going to stop for a massage while I am at it as well. Was really cool. So my official time was a nice and slow 3.58. I was happy that I did that. I was in a good mood at the end and I really enjoyed it. I would have been in a Cr@p mood if I pushed myself hard and had a horrible race and crawled across the line at 3.30. & That would left left me feeling like hanging up the bike.
14. When it was 108km what was different about the route? I have only ridden the 109 and 110.
15. Wow. Glad you are all ok now.
16. Who's stats are these?
17. ? For me it was hard but I did alot better than I thought' date=' the worst I finished was 8min off the leaders on day?2 and the?rest I was like 5 and 6min each day. I dont know where I came today I havent seen the results yet but I rode 15min flat and passed a few guys on the way. So personally overall I did well and I beat some good names along the way overall in GC so now I wait for overall results.[/quote'] Hey well done Colonel! Flip, I have been watching the results and you have done flipping well! Now I am too scared to try and race subvets........
18. I dont recon Lance could win the argus. He could have however taken the Giro. That is more of his kind of racing. Long distance, multi day, big climbs. He would have so eaten the guys up. We have far better sprinters than him in the argus. If the finish was at the top of suikerbossie or something, then I would say he had a better chance, but unless he gets very lucky with the sprint somehow he definitly wont take it. There is one strategy though that I have been thinking of. If he and a couple of "workers" can break away going up chappies, he and Darrel is obviously much better down the hills after racing overseas. So by the bottom of the hill and going up suiker, they could have a couple of seconds gap. Going up suiker they could open up a few more, but then to keep the peloton from catching you in the last 10km will be very hard. He would obviously love to win it and him having fresh legs on sunday will help, but anyway. I dont think he will make it.
19. Wow, this is what we have been waiting for. I need to tape the whole thing so that I can watch it when I get home. Does anyone have a TV card on their PC so that they can record it onto there? We will be able to cut snippets out then as well.
20. Just went and read the article One noticeable enhancement on the bicycle lane is that the surface changes as it approaches intersections from about 20m, then changes again in the area immediately surrounding the intersection. These subtle variations, together with warning and yield signs, provide a clear signal that pedestrians or vehicles may be present in the area, particularly as cyclists could be travelling up to 25km an hour along some stretches. mmmm..... if the south easter is pumping 25km/h is not really true. I have hit 70km/h before with the wind along the west coast road.
21. Question is. Are you going to be sharing that bike lane with pedastrians as well?
22. Headhunter. I dont have an extension. I am contracting to Gijima on the 9th floor. Drop me a mail when you are in & we can go for a cycle. I mean a coffee
