    in the long run - if SARB (are they still called that) withdrew from Super Rugby and The Championship and pumped money into the Currie Cup for the next five years and make it a vibrant competitive competition we might stand a chance of competing with the AB's instead of trying to emulate their 'style'. the panel of experts on Super Rugby make me sick with suggestions we must try and play like the AB's to compete with them.

    it seems that someone in our coaching hierachy convinces our young players to convert from running attacking rugby to dumb head down rugby. i only played a little rugby in my time but i was always told to try your best not to be tackled when you have the ball. sure most teams have a player that induces the tackle as a tactic - we have 15 of them - that tactic is now stale. only one player was able to run over a defender and he's not around any longer

    cyclists doing it for cyclists - we have to do it - if we can unearth a few more riders like the impeys , meintjies , janse van rensburgs i'll be happy - the youngsters in Europe grow up on crits. thats where they get the bike handling skill that our youngsters dont have.

    Nice going Gerald - down here in the WeePEE we are hosting our last 2 events in the Autumn and Winter League then we take a well earned rest in September. do you know if the other districts in Gauteng have been encouraged by your initiative? or has the CSA Road director expressed any interest in the results?

    Worlds consists of a road race and time trial. this is a squad that will race in europe to prepare for worlds champs. i think only 1 rider will race in the TT and 2 in the RR.

    cycling has about R23 mill available to develop the sport, it should've grown by another few mill by now.

    a lot of people make a living out the of the 'Argus' - this is just another ploy to make a bit more out of cyclists. in fact R2.4 mill plus interest more.if you think think the ppa and the ct tour trust have the sport of cycling as a priority think again.

    so if a 100 countries played rugby we'd be about 50th, in 'soccer terms' we'd be about 30th.

    as long as we have locks and hookers playing 1st receiver for most of the game we will get nowhere. let the flyhalf do his job. forwards in the backline contribute nothing other than slowing the game down (and in our our case , knocking on)

    the ladies have a different mindset nowadays with a few of them racin o/seas, it should be an improvement from previous Argus's where they have had dedicated races.

    and this in a rugby mad country - time for the rugby unions to look after the amateurs only becos that is what they are. its time for the game to move into the 21st century - run all the currie cup teams like a business. if the psl can do it then so can rugby.
