  1. Must say I've learn't quite a bit from this OP's experience. Still hope to place trust in Hubbers first, BUT, I always check the sellers ratings. I make a note of giving feedback ratings and asking people for feedback whether I buy or sell. Once asked a "first time" seller, with no comments if he would agree to send clothing to me for inspection and confirmation to buy will follow (based on the fact that I have a track record). I was willing to pay all postage. The seller declined and I cancelled all comms. He kept his goods but I kept my money.
  2. Niel of Niel Buckland Cycles (NBC) in Pinelands is known to put bikes together for some needy souls. 087 271 1057
  3. It's that profile pic. Karma is getting back at ya for making everyone hit their screen at least once. LOL
  4. I've ridden it a few times, Thursday 2 days ago was the latest. Never thought a permit was required. I love it and go there when I have little time but want to get some st riding in. Agree it has a little bit of everything. Always find that little trellis bridge at the start a tester as I tire and that last little "mountain" before you get to the "jeep" track down to the start. Ouch. I love the fact that it is rather unknown and rarely see anyone there. It's not the kind of track that can accommodate numbers anyway. Too few passing opportunities really.
  5. Never heard of any incidents yet, so safe enough. Visit mostly in the morning, but both running or cycling always met people along the way. Go for it.
  6. Can't speak for everyone's experience, but CRC delivery came through in the 17th working day after dispatch, as per their agreement. Did not receive all the parts ordered as they came from different CRC store rooms and were thus dispatched separately. Contacted CRC and they took 5 days to investigate and then gave me the option of money back or re-dispatch. Love their service. Will definitely consider the DHL for stuff I am in a hurry for.
  7. Belated happy birthday. Looks like a hellava lotta hard work as a birthday present. Remember when we moved in after building a new house, we decided to plant a tree so we can have some shade in our old age. As time went by we doubted the day will arrive when we ever enjoy that shade, but today, 25 years later, them shade is glorious. So ... it pays off in the long run. Stick to it Wish you well.
  8. I had similar shifting issues to yours, suspected the shifter, but first replaced the cable and housing and eventually took it to my LBS for them to check. Hanger looked straight enough thus all the other work first and finally confirmed it was not only bent but twisted too. So ...
  9. Didn't see the Bontrager one, but another model cost over a grand, think it was like R1k2 if I remember correct.
  10. I've eyed this unit for a while, but expensive and not taken the plunge yet. Because I've been successful using my floor pump every time, I've not committed to purchase. Love the unit though.
  11. I've seated many a tubeless using just my floor pump. While pumping with one hand, I gently bounce the tire on the ground while pumping, especially at the point where the tire is a bit off-set off the rim. This helps to seat the tire to the rim and so far worked every time. Little patience and learning to pump a floor pump with one hand. No problem.
  12. Very tough ... but can't relate to previous years obviously.
  13. First time doing Stellenbosch MTB Challenge and I found the lack of any single track yesterday most disappointing. Can't really count the 100m broken up into segments here and there. Maybe expected more from what some report were the route in earlier years. Also hated the connections between sectors via tar roads. The water points had a lack of water, not all of us live on Coke. Third stop (most critical in my view) had no water and was helped out by a guard at the gate off his tap next to the entrance. Felt like a duathlete yesterday with those sever climbs. At least I wasn't the only walker. Flippen hell those hills were severe in places. So mostly just up ... and down. Won't do this again. Just didn't find the route interesting.
  14. Been loving this thread for a long time. Mostly just reading and gaining further incite for personal use. Thanx to everyone for sharing your experiences. This podcast answered one of the items I've been kinda struggling with, i.e is it necessary to really eat something on 2/3 hr rides. I find on most rides I do not have to eat anything but for things like the DC (long stuff), I carry some protein (dry wors) and carbs (dates, etc) with me. Been working for me quite fine. I've not used energy drinks at all and wondered about what it does to you if you do? Been drawn to putting Rehydrat Sport in my bottle sometimes. It definitely contain sugar as well as all the other odd-mints. Not sure if it even has any other benefit other then the placebo effect. Any thoughts?
  15. I have this pair of shoes if someone have a need. Size UK 12 / 47 Edit: Taken.
  16. Neil is a great guy to work with. Extremely helpful. Will bend over backwards to assist if you struggle with something and he doesn't have it on hand.
  17. Agh no man. Love my Niner. Hope you get it back.
  18. Planning to visit on Sunday. A month since last visit so looking forward.
  19. OMW. Is that Bond, James Bond on a ciggy advert? Bwahahaaa
  20. So true Anyone can stop smoking as long as they want to and commit to taking action. When my son was born, my wife requested I stop smoking in his presence. It then became a work habit but that attributed to me smoking less then usual and before long I managed with less then 5 a day. Became easier at that point to call it quits, so one day just stopped. All earlier attempts to go cold turkey were not very successful. Getting off a 15/20 a day habit is hectic. I'm clean going on 28 years now.
  21. I've ridden this whole trail plenty times. Didn't find any dog poo issues. Cyclists are always moving at a higher pace and we should as a rule just be more watchful, especially round bends, be prepared to slow as soon as you see walkers and take extra care when there's pets around. Walkers love this area because they able to let the dogs free of a leach, but this also means elevated opportunity for an unfortunate meeting, so lets not get all high and mighty and just practice peace and patience. We all have to give it time to get used to the new changes. I'm already finding lots of understanding from fellow users of all persuasions.
  22. As long as the one coming down is cautious and keep a sharp bead for guys coming up you should have no issues. Coming up will always be slower and you have to look ahead either way as that single track is tricky, especially with the little drop off on the side. You don't want to go over at any of those spots. Had two way traffic a few times and the guys were always pretty easy to wait and let pass. Great trail. Kudos to the builders, especially now that portage section is bypassed.
  23. See even the ladies are using them although I must admit (the one who came third I think?) looked a bit at sea on that course. But then even the winner swam some. Lol. After the ladies, was so looking forward to seeing the guys and especially what GM was going to do and he (and his 29er) rocked. I was whooping with SA pried.
  24. Agree. He ran out of team members way too soon on most of the stages in the Giro. With a greater team around him I think he could be the next Froome (sorry Cav' for mentioning THAT name) LOL
  25. I had some variances on running a regular route (nothing as dramatic as 3km though) but found this to be due to me not waiting for the RED (satellite finder) indicator turning to GREEN. Once I discovered this operational error, it's all sorted. Just a thought.
