  1. i'm 176 on a M scalpel 90mm stem and 20mm setback post. that said, L scalpel with 90mm stem and straight post gives me the same riding fit and feel as my M. go ride the bike and get a feel for it - you'll know immediately if the fit is off or right. very well known mate of mine once said you can make a overside bike smaller not the other way around with too much success
  2. very nice race and hats off to the organisers - beer afterwards was awesome. if there is a repeat next year will do it again. I really do not know that area at all but my suggestion for organisers to consider, if at all possible, is separate routes for 40 and 60 with no joining at all - many 60's held up badly by 40's going too slow the last 10 kms
  3. Her is the one that I ride on the day either C'dale Scalpel or C'dale SuperSix - sulking for the next 12 weeks....
  4. I dont know as I cannot remember - the fun of riding alone at 4:40 AM. riding along and the next thing I remember is being back at home cleaning up..............
  5. Two days in hospital with concussion and bleeding in the brain. Now I cannot see her for three months
  6. Scalpel ride-ready is11kg on the nose
  7. Shipito now also now offers aramex as a partner - will have to test them soon........
  8. Interesting article. Not giving you stick but for your next article please do a bike review for us say an entry alu and then a top end carbon over 100-120kms doing the same route and similar weather conditions - very interested in the legs, bum, back and bike computer feedback
  9. Must say that I seen it work in the UK first hand. Articles like this on news24 together with a pole on there already showing majority votes indicating it will not work never helps to change behaviour
  10. I would be interested - i ride on tubbies every day. I ride on easton EC90SL and was thinking of getting the EC90SLX which is 25mm
  11. I have bontrager super juice in my tubbies and no drying or lumping that I have noticed after almost 3 years. Can also vouch for it's sealing properties
  12. You pays your money and you takes your choice (chance)
  13. Pair of thermal socks Vest Thermal longs Wind proof jacket - cheap euro autumn gear Windproof skulcap - cheap euro autum gear Windproof gloves Works great for the coldest of dawn rides in the cradle
  14. I love mine - I had the Mille first and then upgraded to the FI.13. I can do a 5 hour ride and no issue / problem / pain - get on the bike the next day and do it again. I will never go to another brand
  15. My humble opinion - 60mm front and rear is very good (Zipp 404 / Easton EC90) or even 60mm front and 90mm rear. If there is a strong cross wind go as low as 32mm or even 24mm as you battle to control the bike when in the bars.
  16. My personal experience is that the service differs depending on the groupset that you have - my personal experience is as follow: Campy - Dunkeld cycles Shimano - Westdene cycles SRAM - Westrand cycles All of them are reasonably priced and you get your bike back in showroom condition
  17. yes - pull away the base tape, cut the stitching, patch the tube, stitch up in the same holes, glue down the base tape
  18. Apart from the bigger calves and thighs 13 years of cycling also gave me broader shoulders, good health for a middle aged man (resting HR, spot on BP, low chol, low blood sugar) and also the occasional numb junior
  19. Didn't shave when I started but now I do - nasty crash and a small skin job on the knee as the road ripped the hair and skin off. I have received a few compliments from ladies in the past and the wife likes it - motivates her to shave more regularly
  20. hell yeah. I train on conti giro (very easy to fix punctures ) and race on conti competition. Rolls smoother, smaller contact point with the road so less likely to puncture. Too lazy to try but to close small cuts you simply deflate, put superglue in the cut, let it dry and inflate
  21. I don't have it and know it Many cyclist, including myself, bump into the local pro's in the cradle and we look for parking irrespective of how good we think we are. Saying that Robbie Hunter is totally in another league - I have never seen a cyclist go up Krugersdorp hill (hillsnacks) so quickly and he's a sprinter. You truely appreciate pro's superior ability once you have had the opportunity to experience it yourself - totally humbling . I'll stick to my job and cycle to stay fit and healthy
  22. torque to 5nm
