  1. So what is your advice for tubbies with the piston valve as it becomes a litte more difficult to hold the piston in place?
  2. The red/white/black hi-mod frames that DCM use are no longer available in SA as the 2011 frames arrived in SA - I was told by Lionel from Omnico that I am the proud owner of the very last one
  3. thanks Marius - sagte was silkus neem ek aan
  4. washing machine????? just about all of the manufacturers warn against it - any damage to the glue and stitching? I am really not sure if I want to dunk SIDI's into the washing machine
  5. I use a 11-26 SRAM cassette for the same reason - very acceptable and smooth shifting on the entire range and you can keep your top end speed
  6. Quite a few ironman guys and girl go and swim in bass lake (Henley) for "open water" training
  7. I would suggest SIDI as they offer half sizes for wider feet - also move your cleat so that it is directly below the ball of your foot.
  8. don't know - DNF due to a front puncture on the tubby . Did you at least enjoy the race irrespective of the distance on your computer? More importantly - any idea how the lady is doing that came down hard - DL group I heard?
  9. MichaelH - your problem is worse than mine
  10. :(crap - only 12 months from date of purchase
  11. all the 30+ guys from TCS are dangerous
  12. As I said yesterday - "CSA is useless". The riders race at breakneck speed and the roads are not even closed - bakkie vs. a junior lass. Those idiots will no be able to organise a f*** in a whorehouse
  13. Greater majority of high end carbon frames made in Taiwan or China. I have a cannondale and made in China since 2010 - no longer "handmade in the USA"
  14. If you cannot find what you want in CT check CRC. I bought a Kryptonite cable (+/- 2,5m) and more than enough length to "wrap" the bike - piggy on other hubbers buying placing an order to save shipping cost http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=9630
  15. very sad - do you stay in CT as I recall an earlier post complained about CT cyclists . In the west rand we greet each other - brothers / sisters for life bud
  16. No duties or VAT at all for foreign passport holders - your bike is for personal use and you are not taking up recidency
  17. good thing I have RED with a BB30 crank - minister of finance will not buy into the idea of 6k more for a few grams so SRAM will have to do
  18. davidw is correct - refer SARS http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=2630 See schedule 1, part 1, section 87.12 of the customs tariff book - 15% duties and 14% VAT on the declared purchase price It will work in your favour if the bike is stripped and shipped separately - even a day or two apart as "bicycle parts" are duty free and only VAT paid on the purchase price - section 87.14
  19. SA - Robbie Hunter. I stay out in the west rand and most Decembers he is back home. I bump into him training just about every year - down to earth and will actually slow down to chat. International - Johan Museeuw. I enjoy classics more than tours therefore the Lion of Flanders - his palmares are seriously impressive.
  20. I hear you - the price difference is so big that I only buy globally.
  21. IMHO I should consider Easton (EC90SL - clicher or tubby) - no rider weight limit restrictions, ceramic bearings and DT swissstop brakepads included in the price. It is semi deep section so you don't have to fight it in cross winds and helps a lot with climbing. I sold my deep section EC90 Aero's for these - I am now faster on all terrains
  22. VAT only and small handling fee - see the customs tariff book (schedule 1, part 1 section 87.14) http://www.sars.gov.za/home.asp?pid=2630
  23. Go down to northcliff cycles on Beyers Naude and find out from Alex and crew when and where they ride
  24. hell yes, it is very important to always have a sparkling clean ride
