  1. That is correct. See the update did not take.
  2. at least we could spend a bit of time with her before her passing a few weekends ago. I must say it is the worst two years ever. First a crap medical diagnosis, then Bullie going to the forever farm (while I was in Hospital) and almost a year later Bella leaving us. I know little Max is going to miss Bella, she tutored him on the proper ways and etiquette of being a Marais dog, and laid down the law and gave the corrective measures when needed.
  3. Had a visit from a pain specialist today. She worked out a pain management plan for me as (The pain meds I am on now, was compared to smarties)I have to use Tramadol 4 times a day for the next few days (12) to aid in the recovery so that I can get the last operation sorted. I did not know that the effects would not be instantaneous, biut would take a few days to get to proper controlled levels. Also got a prescription for new sleeping tabs. It sounds as if pain keeps you from falling asleep (wonder why most doctors can’t figure this out) so she said she just needs me to get rest as sleep is needed for recovery. She will do a reassessment in a few days. We did not know that there were doctors specializing in pain management. The Matron from Kloof Hospital helped us to get connected to the doctor. We are so blessed by all the Matron did for us so far. I have to admit that Wednesday morning I passed out from the pain, and Thursday (for the first time in a very long time) I contemplated suicide due to the pain and the matter that a anesthesiologist did not charge us the agreed rate, but 200% rate. So out of the Back a Buddy fund we have R4000 left. So not sure if we can pay the next operations expenses. So can only pray at this stage for the Heavenly Father to provide
  4. Received a message that Bella had tick fever. Due to her old age (13 or so years old) she did not recover and she is not creating new red blood cells anymore. She is going to the forever farm for Good Dogs today. Bella may you have all the mud pools to play in, we are going to miss you girl!
  5. all is okay. Sleep is a huge problem with a wound stretching from the right (just under the ribs) to about a inch under the sternum. At the moment the pain is off the charts. The meds just dulls it a bit. And do not want to go the morphine or tramadol route, but will have to.
  6. I wish it was so. Still the colon operation hampering me.One major thing that gets to me, I am not allowed to leave my room. So I am enclosed to my room which is a pain. But hope to be on the bike soon and to get to the job market. Every person that asks me what I do for a job just adds to my humiliation.
  7. Hi RobertI was told the operation of the liver went real well. Doctor could not do a reversal of the stoma. I am being moved to isolation due to some bacterial resistance. The test came back at 12h00. So it is part of why I am being moved to a general ward with a isolation room. High Cares is being used
  8. True words, bit I was worried over recovery times.
  9. Just got news. Operation is now scheduled for 17h00. My nerves are shot, and the are yet to give me my meds to help calm me down. They did not give me food last night so the last thing I ate was a KFC mini loaf at 14h00 yesterday.
  10. Just booked in at Kloof hospital. Surgery is booked for 13h00 tomorrow. So a bundle of nerves at the moment.
  11. Watched the first episode of Dracula 2020 last night. I enjoyed it, and a new twist to the story. Is a BBC production and AFAIK it comes from the same folks who made Sherlock
  12. My wife was offended by the Penis festival... but these days my wife gets offended by every little thing
  13. Went to visit Abby and Max today.
  14. Just returned from the doctor. Next week Wednesday he will operate my liver. Due to the location of the tumor I will lose my Gallbladder as well. There is one nymph node that lighted up on the CT so that must be removed as well. Will be admitted the Tuesday to run a few tests and to make sure everything is okay with me. So bit nervous. The operation sounds to be another major operation, so another long term in High Care awaits me.
  15. I woke up to darkness a few seconds after load shedding started at 01h00. I woke from a nasty dream. One thing I am not looking forward to is the anaesthesia. The mask that the give you said oxygen sends me into a panic every time. That deep darkness and quiet that follows and then a few seconds later (or so it feels) you awake to pain and a doctor attempting to keep you awake. Just that darkness and the smell of whatever they mix with oxygen. And that closed mask... Just the thought raises my heart rate by 30! Anyone with tips on how to cope with that? The calming agent the anesthesiologist gives beforehand does not help much. As soon as I enter the theatre adrenalin kicks in and I want out. The last time I even pushed the mask away...
  16. Drain was removed this morning. Very weird feeling of the thing being removed. And got bumped to the 8th of Jan to see the doctor. My liver is giving me some problems and hurting a lot, so the nurse checked and bumped me up on the list to see the doctor, as it is just a consult to make a date so to speak...
  17. Thanks Cat-I Have a consult on the 15th with the surgeon for the liver resection. Tomorrow morning i have an appointment to have the drain removed. Have to drive for the first time in more than a month. So feeling a little nervous about that
  18. Still working through season 5 of Vikings. Tried watching it while on Morphine so most of it was lost in the morphine haze. Must say season 5 part two was great so far. Missed a few crucial parts, but what I remember was great war scenes.
  19. Wife asked if I wanted to watch the movies, but I am not a fan of boxing (thanks to my grandfather)Bit I know they are great movies, but not my genre that I enjoy.
  20. Lost the plot... started drawing on my iPad. Can rather call this “Taken: Rambo Edition”
  21. Attempting to watch the new Rambo movie, but the sound levels are a bit irritating. And Sylvesters way of talking makes the dialog just irritating. I know the man has speech problems, but hearing what a person says is important in movies. So lost the plot already...
  22. I thought it was only me that felt this way. The movie was a confusing mess to me. Was a lot of fun to watch though. Some funny part and loved the action. A true little boy movie full of way out ideas
  23. My mom removed the stitches of my wound today. The clips was removed the first time I was released from hospital, but they left the stitches. Went to the doctor to have the stitches removed, but the nurse said it was to soon, but they can remove it on the 2nd of January. But the stitches needed to be removed already. My skin started to cover 8 of the 25 stitches that my mom removed. Feels a lot better as I can raise my head without the stitches pulling my wound. Now just to phone the doctor next week to get my liver sorted... oh and the infection to get sorted that still plagues me.
  24. Lets hope it is not like Cannabis on mice that does not yield the same results on humans. I pray that this will work in humans as well. The day that there is a cancer treatment that can eradicate this disease it will be one of the best days ever! Know there was a few sites that mentioned a vaccine, and it will be great if you can vaccinate people against this monster. No one deserves to have cancer!
  25. Pain is a huge problem. Most doctors are scared to give pain meds. The guy who operated on me gave me pain meds that did not work at all. Prescribed me other pain meds, that worked a bit, but after being admitted to hospital the internist said he does not want me to suffer and prescribed a pain patch. And it worked great. No pain for 7 days. Just sad it stopped working, and the pain is back. I wonder about grapes. It is my number one weakness. And I am not allowed to eat grapes as well. Not even most berries including blueberries! And most juices are out as well. If given a choice I will rather drink stokkies Rooibos tea that has been cooled. If you can hunt your own meat things are better. At least you know it is clean
