Looks like a good flat fast one after 947. Maybe worth entering.

Anyone got any idea what the deal is with timing chips? See it is timed by SS and they have some partnership with Finish Time. So will our new SAS timing boards as used on 947 be of application?

I would not categorise it as flat, but then the roads around my area make any incline seem a mountain.

I finished quite buggered to be honest. Found the route tougher with all the climbing at the end. But I suppose it always depends on the training you have put in.

The start at Steyn City buggers me up with the climbs early on, this was more to my liking. Also once I finished the BraamFisher/Jan Smuts section and exiting Jhb City I found while still undulating it flowed quickly

  3. Rode with group I trained with. Found parking easy, short ride to start, easy access to batch group, the water points we stopped at were well stocked, nice over cast weather (hardly noticed wind) route I found easier than previous and finished feeling I could carry on, exit through finish quick and efficient. Was sceptical about new start and finish but for me beats Steyn City easily.

  4. Went around the block a few times this year [emoji41] - blessed with the health and opportunity to keep riding. I'll be turning 60 this year and have been riding for over 30 years. Looking forward to riding till I can't anymore.

Anemiek VV now that's a lot of K's and some serious climbing [emoji15]

Less than last year, but I was off the bike for part of May and most of June with bronchitis.

  5. i don't think this should be taken as "go for a nice hour long run" or " a nice 2hr bike ride" but rather run around or ride around your block or down your street - i mean afterall, there is method to the madness of a lockdown. be responsible! it's kinda a lifeline to help you cope from being stuck inside..........BE FREAKIN RESPONSIBLE!

Cant run, knee issues besides I have no intention of outdoor cycling either, I have an indoor trainer, large screen TV, spinning videos, movies etc. Only time I will leave my property other than get essentials is to mow my pavement, AND NOW if allowed take my dogs for their walk

    #freakinresponsible.

  6. Health minister Zweli Mkhize, has told SABC News that people will be able to walk their dog, and go for a jog during a three-week lockdown enforced by president Cyril Ramaphosa.

The terms around such activities however, have not yet been published.

I will wait for official go ahead but It would suit my dogs, I have a long standing  agreement with the principal of local school that i can exercise my dogs there, Zero interaction with anyone, I sit on the grandstand while they run around sniffing.

  7. I wonder how the lock down will affect our cycling. If I cycle alone it may not be an issue but how do authorities control movement? I suppose the easiest is to stop all movement.

Under strict controlled circumstances you allowed to go to supermarket for essentials, so in theory you could cycle there.

Individuals will not be allowed to leave their homes except under strictly controlled circumstances, such as to seek medical care, buy food, medicine and other supplies or collect a social grant.

All shops and businesses will be closed, except for pharmacies, laboratories, banks, essential financial and payment services, including the JSE, supermarkets, petrol stations and health care providers.

  8. I don't think a test is really necessary if you are not feeling ill - just self isolate as far as possible - if you think you have been exposed then a test is a good idea, likewise if you have  a temperature of over 38.5, irrespective of if you are feeling ill or not.

I don't think medical aids are paying for negative tests currently - only positive ones.

    Swab or sputum test

Our medical aid will only cover if you are deemed to have been in contact with someone that has officially found to be positive and known to the health authorities, they will then pay for the test whether you test positive or negative.
