  1. Looking at the footage it appears excessive. Would be keen to know what SANPARKS procedure is when confronting a rider as is claimed who refuses to show permit/access card. Do they suss up the situation and allow the rider to continue to avoid it escalating , or do they prevent him and if so how.

    Rapha Festive 500

    Umm yeah right
  6. Apparently in Vanderbijlpark Trafic officials believe its an offence for dogs to be on a public road, even in a car. When you are pulled over by a traffic officer and fined because your dog is seated next to you on the passenger seat of your car, the first instinct is to look around for hidden cameras, thinking that you may be part of a Leon Schuster prank. No such luck for Vanderbijlpark resident, Santie Venter, who was recently fined R1,000 for her pooch occupying the seat next to her, reports Vaal Weekblad. Santie was speechless when she saw clearly marked on the fine: “No pets allowed on public road.” In shock, she took to Facebook to ask whether such a law exists, and soon established that it does not. After making inquiries, the public prosecutor confirmed to her that such a law does not exist, and the fine was immediately cancelled. It seems like a funny story now, but it had since instilled doubt in the minds of residents as to how qualified traffic officials are, and if the fines they issue are just made up on the spot.
  7. Will do. Kept getting time out issue as page took too long to respond, used laptop and desktop even with cashe history cleared and all other sites working.
  8. Was unavailable for most of the day.
  9. Appears more down than up.
  10. Way to go. Why am I not surprised. Although Ramaphosa has promised to keep the lights burning until 13 January, the new year promises to be a turbulent one for the flailing power utility. While the appointment of new CEO, Andre de Ruyter, has been welcomed by Eskom and the ruling African National Congress (ANC), trade unions have vowed to embark on crippling protests to oppose, what they deem to be, steps towards the privatisation of state-owned enterprises (SEOs). Both the National Union of Metal Workers South Africa (Numsa) and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) are intending to mobilise 50 000 workers in January as part of industrial action which will further hamper the operational mandate of SEOs.
  11. Load shedding due to corruption, mismanagement and inefficiencies, and we will be paying for loss of revenue. Cape Town - The public has until January 20 to comment on Eskom’s application to the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) for a tariff increase to recover R27billion in losses from load shedding. This tariff increase will probably see electricity costs increase by up to 17%. https://www.iol.co.za/capetimes/news/eskom-seeks-r27bn-for-load-shedding-losses-17-tariff-increase-mooted-39183348
  12. So the planned "new intervention" is nothing more than regurgitated proposals and solutions not implemented. The governing party believes that its long-stated resolution on introducing private equity partners and diversifying SA’s energy mix is the panacea to Eskom’s problems. The ANC has peddled old ideas to save Eskom and SA from unprecedented power cuts, saying it wants to introduce strategic equity partners in the debt-laden power utility and diversify the country’s energy mix to include renewable energy into the national grid. While the ANC believes that these interventions are a game-changer, the diversification of SA’s energy mix alone is part of the National Development Plan, a policy that was adopted by Parliament in 2012 but the governing party has failed to implement. https://www.msn.com/en-za/news/other/anc-peddles-old-ideas-to-resolve-eskoms-long-standing-problems/ar-AAK2A5U?ocid=spartandhp
  13. One can hope for a just outcome, but then as highlighted by Gummibear a few pages back where some joggers were mugged, police followed up and arrested the perps in possession of stolen goods only for NPA not to follow through with prosecution and release them.
  14. Yup or in this case above the ground.
  15. Once again been reactive rather than pro active. Eyewitness News revealed on Tuesday that the president is flying home following the public outcry over his trip, which was announced shortly after South Africans were saddled with stage 6 load shedding. https://ewn.co.za/2019/12/10/load-shedding-ramaphosa-only-found-out-about-stage-six-after-leaving-for-egypt If you combine all the times Ramaphosa claims he's shocked (State capture, Alexandra, Esidemeni, state of SOE's etc) and convert it to electricity it would go a long way towards avoiding load shedding
  16. Nothing like stating the obvious. Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa said this was bad for the economy, adding that the anger and frustration of citizens were understandable. https://ewn.co.za/2019/12/10/as-we-go-back-to-stage-4-ramaphosa-says-load-shedding-bad-for-economy
  17. Site seems to bedding down, kind like load shedding it's been mostly unavailable the past few days I can get the "old familiar" look by clicking forums then active topics.
  18. Happy to be be proved otherwise but I don't hold Ramaphosa, Gordhan etc in the same esteemed regard. Example The Eskom Chairman who was appointed by both, had the following to say. At a media briefing to explain why load shedding has returned and what Eskom plans to do about it, chairperson and acting CEO Jabu Mabuza responded to a question on whether he is the right person for his job by explaining that he didn’t apply for it and was there due to the decisions of President Cyril Ramaphosa and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan. “Am I the right person? I would have applied for the job if I had the qualifications and I wanted it, I didn’t apply for this. South Africans and the president and the minister must make the call,” he said. Mind boggling. Then there's the credit for placing SAA under business rescue, when i fact they were faced with an ultimatum, Solidarity requested this a while back but were dismissed, they then went the legal route and surprise, Ramaphosa then finally took action.
  19. Our suburb had load shedding on Thu, the rest of the suburb came back on except our street affecting 10 houses. Phoned contact centre who kept insisting our power was out due to load shedding. Numerous calls Eventually on Sat our councilor made a fuss and they investigated only to find out the switch for our street had tripped, and all it took was to turn it on again almost 24 hours later.
  20. Ok must be looking at early bird special then.
  21. R540 for Black Friday special.

  23. Its from a previous race but still chuckle when I see it
  24. When it comes to active participation, Parkrun are on a steep growing climb, manageable (even my lazy brother and sister in law are regulars), convenient and best of all FREE. Looking at their site North Beach had the most participants this past week (1561) and also holds the record of most participants (2527). No fancy aerodynamic carbon, electric shifting, skin suit wearing, gel munching etc involved.
  25. Mentioned it before but will repeat it again. Years back there used to be a road race in Edenvale sponsored by coco cola. I found myself in B group front bunch when we caught and as we were passing the Elite women some guy mentioned them been caught by boep pens amateurs, this obviously struck a nerve with them as next thing we saw was a blur as they sped away leaving us to eat their dust.
