  1. All I hear is the reasons why it is so difficult for them to qualify and get over to do the races, but then there is this unknown guy called Greg Minnaar, who with all the challenges mentioned that all the other SA guys faces some how managed to get into the major events and made his performances count for him to secure sponsors and help him to get to where he is now. If he managed to do all that he did what is the excuses of the other guys?
  2. He is targeting 6 stage wins. Today then friday and Saturday as well. He is too competitive to sit and defend his lead.
  3. Poggi wants it, I have a feeling is going to try and win all the remaining stages.
  4. Take a Sport like Wrestling for example, you qualify to represent your country by winning the national trials, then you need to compete in a qualifying tournament where only the winner gets to go. If you are the second best wrestler in the world and the no1 is also from your country, Sorry Bru but you are going nowhere, no one will even know your name. For SA to take 6 riders is a joke. Seriously especially if the guys is not even ranked in the top 100. If they were top 15 in the world than it is a different story. then take all 6 by all means. Just because we can take 6 does not mean you have to. I would rather pay for 1 guy to go than have 6 guys that is self funded go just to say, "hey I was at world champs and placed 200 out of 210."
  5. Why is he not riding the UCI downhill events? Do he stand a chance of medaling?
  6. Take athletics for example 100m sprint only has 56slots available at the Olympics. to qualify you had to run 10.00. In the US trials, there was 12 men that ran the qualifying time in the semi finals. There will be only 3 that goes to the Olympics even though any of the 12 men could potentially medal.
  7. The participation debate on World championships should really not even be a debate. if you are not ranked in the top 100 than I am sorry to say, you are not good enough to participate in the World championships. It is not the World Participation championships. The same with the Olympics, that is for the Elite of the Elites, hence the strict qualification criteria in most sports.
  8. Happens on Smart TV. IT happens with all live events, Rugby, UFC and cycling. Nothing wrong with the TV or Fibre. Runs Netflix without any issues. It must be a App problem for DSTV.
  9. I am glad to hear that it is not just me experiencing this issues. It is damn annoying though.
  10. Have you not seen his ski jumping crash? he nearly died.
  11. 🤣 or this...
  12. I wonder what the reason is for Roglic crashing all the time, is he taking too many risks or laps in concentration, poor positioning in the peloton or just plain bad luck. He looks so comfortable handling the bike but still falls more than any other guy...
  13. Fabio Jacobsen abandons again. This might be the last time we see him at the tour, second year in a row that he abandons, I doubt there will be much confidence in him going forward.
  14. Being ill the majority of the year it was only my second ride in about 2 months. So no you probably whipped me. I have not looked to much into the VO2 max estimation so cannot comment, I guess it could be accurate if your Heart rate sensor and power meter is calibrated and correct.
  15. The time gaps is so close still, if Pogi implodes like last year they might even challenge him for the second spot on the podium. I highly doubt that it will happen. Yesterday could be his only bad day.
  16. Tough one, I still do not think Jonas is at 100%, if he was he would have continued on the climb when he caught Pogi and gapped him, instead he rode onto his wheel and sat there for a while. He might be riding it a bit smarter and saving some energy, knowing that he would not gain a lot on the stage anyways. Exciting weekend ahead with some big mountains to climb
  17. I did that on Saturday, nearly died. Average heartrate of 178bpm.
  18. Point of view is from what Jonas and his team expect. Not my personal opinion, they expected him to lose around 2 minutes in the first week but believe he will be able to claw back the time in the third week where the climbs is more suited to his strengths.
  19. I might be completely wrong, but from past races Remco does not have it in him yet to stick to the top climbers in the High Mountains. A realistic 5th place would be great for him, anything better is a major Win.
  20. I have yet to see Pogi ride defensively, his attacking nature will not allow this to happen. He will only ride defensively if he has reached or is close to his limit. He will continue to attack and try and get a proper lead before the final 3 stages. Jonas has really been impressive so far considering his poor lead up to the race. If he gets stronger during the race I expect the 3rd week to be fireworks.
  21. My guess is that Jonas will ship some time on Poggi, while Roglic will have a similar time to Poggi and Remco to win the stage. Remco is not the world champ for no reason. I expect Wout to do well as well.
  22. Tell Sir Wiggins to buy his new home with the Glory of winning the Tour.
  23. What was the Top speed of Cavendish in the sprint yesterday?
  24. Did my First Ride on IndieVelo on tuesday, what can I say, I am really impressed. The setup was easy and no connection issues using Ant+. The physics feels much better than Zwift in my opinion, I could feel a remarkable difference when drafting behind another rider, something that I never experienced with Zwift. The graphics is great, on par with Zwift. MyWhoosh is too hardware heavy as I cannot run it on either of my laptops and the graphics is horrible running from my Iphone, Not even the less detailed version works on any of the laptops. I also did not experience any drop in connection like with Zwift. In order for Zwift to work properly on Ant+ or Bluetooth I had to switch the Treadmill off and unplug it. Meaning that My wife(a Runner) and I could never train next to each other as Zwift would never work and my indoor trainer even when using Ant+ would bomb out. So Indievelo for the win.
  25. Brilliant sprint from Cav. I really did not think he still had that kind of Top speed, his experience showed jumping from one wheel to the next to ensure he is following the correct lead out. It was pure class. Some Humble pie being served today. I hope he can repeat that, even if it is just for my Fantasy team.
