  1. Early in the morning ? Have a light meal with a little bit of protein e.g. Oats/Pronutro (not whole-wheat)/Peanut butter and toast. ? It does not matter if the starch is low or high GI. MuXmAn2010-01-13 07:15:02
  2. Pre-race meals Night before ? A light meal should be enjoyed just to top up on glycogen stores. ? Focus on carbohydrates and avoid high fat or fibre foods. ? Pasta, rice or potato with chicken or fish. MuXmAn2010-01-13 07:15:49

  4. Saw a guy 2 weeks ago get hit by a BMW. The cyclist had skipped a stop street. What happened next - the BMW pulled over onto the side of the road with the driver clearly shaken up by the incident. The cyclist got up dusted himself off and made a beeline. Not the decency to go over to the driver and apologize or check for damage to the car. Just got HIT and RAN. People hate cyclists because we disobey the rules of the road, this is not rocket science.
  5. A big guy drafting a little guy, have they no shame....? Mmmph glad to see it doesn't only happen to me.
  6. They are good boys - LOL and their Dad is an idiot
  7. Nope there are only 2 of us regulars. Holly yesterday was great until be hit Bapsfontein and then the gloves came off, I had a chance to look down and saw 55kph and then a Bianchi swerved in front of me and I went bundu bashing. Lucky I managed to hold on and get back onto the road - I called it quits then and drifted home at a comfortable 35kph.
  8. LMAO - I am sure I told a certain someone not to fall off yesterday morning!!! After my pep talk a certain someone proceeded to brag how he had not fallen off a bicycle in ages. Vat so!! Next time listen to the Muxman!!
  9. TNT why don't you ever come ride with us, sounds like you are around the corner from me?
  10. A big thank you to Wendell and everyone else involved in this event. This is one of the better events I have attended and enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you.
  11. Yup we came across some guys 2 weeks ago in Elizabeth Road at 06h30 in the morning who could not find their way home because they were so pissed. They asked us for directions to get to their own house - crazy. Last week I was almost taken out on the corner of Elizabeth and Ridge at 05h30 by a car jumping a Red Robot and then about 3 minutes later on the bridge of Elizabeth by a car driving on the wrong side of the road. I agree with TNT keep your wits about you this time of the year especially on the drag roads of Boksburg in the early hours of the morning.
  12. Holy what you are saying makes no sense either. How is a component manufacturer taking a distributor to court ensuring that the Brand is protecting its local suppliers? I must be missing something.
  13. I don't understand this. What did Mavic have to say about the whole situation? How is it that a component manufacturer is getting involved and not the actual brand. It's a bit like the Nestles sugar supplier taking Georges Cafe to court because he thinks George is selling fake smarties. Or am I missing something here?
  14. I can't advise you on which MTB to buy but will ask is 6-7K for the bike only? Have you also considered that you need kit, helmet, bibs, shirt, shoes, pedals and so on. Add in at least another 3K here, so maybe scale down on the bike a bit. Also personally I think 7k is a bit much to be spending on something you are not sure you are going to enjoy. I would rather look at a low range MTB for about 3.5K try the sport for a bit and then move onto bigger things if you enjoy it.
  15. At 1.84 you would be looking for a large frame. It is a bit generic as large means different things to different manufacturers. Best thing to do when hunting for a new bike is to go to your Local Bike Shop (LBS) and get measured. They will then steer you in the right direction as to how many a centimeter frame you should purchase. It is very important to ride the right size bike, probably the next most important thing to wearing a helmet. However having said all of this of you are new to the sport first ride the bike you have and see if you enjoy it before spending thousands of rands. Where are you based? Maybe hook up with a few hubbers over the weekend for a ride and some tips. Makes the whole painful experience a little more enjoyable.
  16. Hunt around here for components. If you are patient you will pick up some really good stuff for great prices
  17. My wife came stone last. It was only myself and my little daughter left at the finish line to welcome her in. 5h24mins to complete the 50k. I am very proud of her for finishing

You probably would have recourse, however you need to then weigh up the cost of fixing your bike as opposed to the cost of hiring a lawyer and the rest of the fees that go with it. Probably will be more rewarding to call the owner a f$%king idiot and claim from insurance.
  20. Will have my last hard training ride about 1 week before race day. the days leading up to that I will just do some light spinning and keep the legs turning over, real low intensity stuff.
  21. 7th time round for me
  22. 10 Months for me
  23. Well hopefully you all already know that if your sunblock does not work there is always Stinger Bahama Blue to sort out the aftermath. Conquer sunburn with Stinger?s Bahama Blue After Sun. Apply Bahama Blue directly after sunburn to regain healthy skin tone and minimise peeling.
  24. So for those of you who are doubting the ability of Stinger Creams, here is the head of Lee Stockenstrom the owner of Sweat and Gears after an untimely accident with a table. Here is that same head a few days later. Another convert who now swears by the stuff.
