  1. Any one of these sporting decision is tough, dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
  2. Hi guys, not sure if something like this has been discussed before. I recently bought a new pair of running shoes, Saucony Ride ISO 2, absolutely love them. My problem however is that the left heel has worn off to the point that I'm not sure if I'll get 200km's on them. This has never happened before and my Cumulus 21 has 750km on and can probably still do another 100km's. So my question, do I write this off as being the wrong shoe? I do most of my runs with my girl in a pram, holding it with my right hand, is there a case to be made that one over compensate with the left side because you are holding it with your right side? Or is it more complicated than that? Would love to hear your opinions on this.
  3. https://weekendtrailwarrior.com/product-category/hydration-packs/ Some nice new packs on the way as well, have a chat to them on that site
  4. Very good summary. Luckily in Cape Town it doesn't get below 5 degrees easily..... I think ;-)
  5. Thanks, do you ever run with a gillet?
  6. Hi Guys Any advise on layering in the winter. Cycling is relatively easy, but what do you do with running, seeing that it is kind of difficult to store the clothing as you take it off?
  7. Thank you for this! Freaking amazing
  8. Yeah, I've omitted that, I can do sub 5 mins/k relatively comfortably for 10-15km, lets say 4:55 in race condition, but would love to get to do a half marathon in sub 1:40, but that is easier said than done. I've also got my training set on doing more speed work, and then try and do at least 1 kind set of strength training after a run, and possibly do some stretching at night when the kids are in bed, not the best, but the only way to get a good stretch in on a regular basis. I guess something is better than nothing at all.
  9. Some insight please. In order to increase your speed, what would you say will make the biggest change (apart from all of the above) 1. More running or 2. regular interval, tempo running or 3. strength training or 4. stretching Reason I am asking is, although it sounds stupid, it really is difficult for me at this stage to squeeze in that extra 30-45mins of training. I've got about an hour a day to try and be a better runner, or accepts it is what it is at the moment.
  10. Yeah, forgot about the injuries, you are 100% correct. What distances do you run?
  11. A question on training, that might have been discussed here before. What's your thoughts on going out and banging out workouts at race speed (each to his own), and building up from there, vs following a program where you do intervals in difference heart rate/pace zones and then doing slower long runs in like zone 2? Following one of those, I am wondering how you convert the interval training to doing a half, or marathon, in the speed you want to finish it in.
  12. How do I link the Racetec number, or is that being done by the app as well?
  13. I hear there's a guy at Cyclelab with a keen eye for these type of things
  14. Thanks for the reply, some sound advice there. Do you bother with core strength at all?
  15. A question about strength training I know it is important, I want to do this at home, with multiple workouts available online. My question is, what's your opinion on splitting one workout into daily workouts. I truffle with the kids to get 45min "standing around" at home doing this. I'm thinking if I try and do 1 muscle group a day, I'll at lest get something done on the strength side. What's your opinion?
  16. Hi Guys I have 2 pairs of road running shoes, they've done just about enough to warrant new shoes, ie around 800km's What do you guys do with those? I generally try and keep the last pair to use casually, but the cupboard is getting a little full? Feel wrong to donate it to the garbage bin?
  17. Ok, that might explain why you cannot get hold of them.
  18. Exactly, fully agree It does however seem like whenever the robusta gets added, the "buzz" is more. Interestingly enough, I've found a Tribe blend where they say it contain the robusta bean type, and then Nespresso has quite a few pods that make mention of that. Other than that it seems like most coffee in SA comes from the arabica bean. But like you say, this topic can cause wars
  19. I think you know why ;-) Just been reading up on caffeine intake and which has more caffeine. Seems like those are the thing you need to look for. Quite interested to also see if it will do anything, cause generally coffee doesn't give me a "buzz"
  20. I looked on this thread, and it has been discussed waaaaay back, briefly. Can anybody here help with where I can get robusta beans, or black insomnia coffee?
  21. That is good news Neville. Am I right in saying that you froth the milk with the steam wand? Can you also tell me how loud, or soft the machine goes about it's business?
  22. Would anybody consider a Delonghi? I am looking at the entry level one, the Esam 2200. Not sure at this stage if I should do the bean to cup, or rather to the normal espresso machine to get started with.
  23. I sent you a message on Gumtree with a few questions
