  1. Boils down to the same principle as the old saying; Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man.......
  2. Must be a Knysna thing, during the last Stage of the Knysna 200 last year my partner and I came across some kids from the local sports school that benefits from the race dragging a felled tree across the track. When they spotted us they clambered up the embankment and started pelting us with stones when we were forced to dismount to climb over the tree. Crazy!
  3. He should try do a couple of training sessions on an indoor trainer with doors closed and heating turned up high for the weeks preceding the event. The biggest problem with Euro partners that come out just for the race is heat intolerance, the above should help with that. Another problem is that they don't get a lot of time to train big climbs, so when they get here they struggle with lower back pain and cramps from smaller muscles that only come into play when your riding up steep ascents. Suggest that he does indoor sessions with the front wheel propped up to simulate climbing position to train these muscles as well. My partner from the UK did the indoor training in the heat and it seemed to help him cope alot better in the heat. He didn't do the incline training so every stage after 3 hrs the cramps set in and he needed physio every day!! Hope that helps. Good luck.
  4. Where in Europe is your partner from?

  8. Would love to know where they got them as they are not even in stock to ship now from GoPro direct
  9. Hi awsme, Stock availability is an issue from GoPro side not the local distributor/retailer. 1. Omnico have ordered as many units from GoPro as we physically can for delivery pre Xmas. 2. White & Silver Editions have been delayed going to market locally as a result of pending ICASA approval. 3. Black Edition has been delayed by production issues in China. All we know is that the current ETA for production completion is early to mid Dec, so they will not be available anywhere till roughly mid Dec at best. We are airfreighting these units to have them here pre Xmas. Ask your family to keep their eyes peeled at CUM, DueSouth and other retailers or pre order one from Action Cameras. As that is going to be your best chance of getting one for Xmas.
  10. SIlver Edition started hitting retailers this week. Black will only be in Dec sometime.
  11. Stem works well, chest, helmet

  17. You can get Kenda Sant 6, Small Block 8, Nevegal and Kozmic Lite Tyres in 29" Tubeless SCT (Sealant Compatable Tyre). Been riding the Slant 6 version for 4 months already and these are AWESOME!
  18. Had one of their wheels at the Omnico tech support trailer, running standard kevlar tyres tubeless
  19. Kenda have just launched SCT Tyres (Sealant Compatible Tyre) which are guaranteed to work with any sealant
  20. Also suggest getting the Park Tool saw guide to make sure that your cut is straight and square with the frame. When cutting these frames you need to ensure that the seatclamp rests on the post, although manufacturers claim a certain degree of tolerance it is much better to ensure that the clamp sits hard on the frame
  21. Make sure that your fork can handle a 203 Rotor. As most forks up to 150mm travel are only rated for use with up to 180
  22. Have just spoken with a UCI commisaire that serves internationally and the situation at present is as follows; 1. the UCI rule pertaining to DH and the use of HELMET mounted cameras has been extended to all MTB disciplines for safety reasons, however does NOT apply to bike or chest mounted cameras. 2. certain events will be implementing bans on the use of cameras at the behest of landowners that are allowing them to use their land, pretty much for the same stated reasons that caused the GPS ban at Epic. So in a nutshell; No one can force you to remove a bike/body mounted camera at any race in SA unless the use of video cameras is expressly outlawed in the event rule that you as participant have signed acceptance of. Hope this clears up any confusion.
