  1. Don't think so. To my knowledge only commercial airliners. Small aircraft, helicopters and military aircraft do normally not have it. The owner of an aircraft might want to have it installed. If a small aircraft is used commercially the owner might opt for an additional Flight data recorder (or some version of it, not a black box as such) that they not only use in case of emergencies but more used to evaluate pilot performance. I know at some stage British Airways (in Brittain, not Commair in SA) had additional monitoring software on their aircraft where they evaluate pilot performance and also see where pilots need to do some extra training in the simulator.
  2. If they only look at aircraft in Indonesia could that point to maybe a specific maintenace procedure/issue?
  3. This year will be the European football cup (postponed from last year). Then we will be seeing that clapping often again. Looking forward to that. Well assuming people may attend the games that said Was pretty awesome with the previous tournament in 2016 and Iceland performed pretty well for such a small country.
  4. Google is your friend https://eu.usatoday.com/story/travel/columnist/cox/2020/01/02/ask-captain-why-black-boxes-resubmerged-after-crash-sea/2794033001/
  5. Swiss have you got any info on what depth the wreckage is?
  6. I see that is actually more Weavind Park than Silverton. Hope your brother is ok. Thanks for reporting.
  7. Anything is a guess at the moment. A complete break of the wing in my humble unqualified opinion would have sent the aircraft in a violent spin that would have left a slightly bigger debries field. All indications are that the aircraft hit the water in one piece thus such a small area of the debries field. I wonder if a engine did not break off rupturing hydraulic lines in the process. I feel bad for Boeing as I am pretty sure this is not a Boeing related error as such. I am more inclined to think this would be a maintenance issue gone wrong.
  8. Really good looking plane, inside and out. Do they take mastercard?
  9. I must try that this winter. looks cool.
  10. Fark. That is how cycling safety is starting in 2021. Nee donner man.
  11. Agree with you there. I also wouldn't pass cyclists in an intersection as a rule.
  12. Whenever I see a Tiger Moth flying I can't help thinking if I would be able to chase it down with my bicycle. It always look as if they are flying so slow that they will be dropping out of the sky any second.
  13. Also fascinated by your stories so if ever you stop in Munich let me know. We could try a braai (weather permitting) or at least a beer or two.
  14. Some icy roads in Ankarra today...
  15. According to my dad who is well informed with the "official" news feeds on social media old Bill is now planting chips into your hand. Personally I give up talking to ill informed people.
  16. Safe to assume you are not working this week?
  17. Very possible. Not just Russian but African countries and other Asian countries.
  18. LWB but don't SA or ACSA have inspectors at the airports that check the aircraft landing there for "air worthiness". I know Germany have inspectors at the airports and they check aircraft after landing and if tyres are shot or there are other issues the airlines get fined and if it happens often they might even ban the airline of flying in German airspace. Should the problem be big enough they might even ground the aircraft it will need to be repaired first before taking off.
  19. Then it is not called a Antanov anymore but rather Lada.
  20. If it is a russian aircraft they won't even notice Will propably think it was one of the rivets comming loose.
  21. Who remembers the case quite few years ago when "Cyclists attacked grandpa" in the Gautent area as well. Very similar situation. The whole world even here on the hub were demanding the heads of the cyclists. Even made it to the Beeld. Very similar situation as here now. In that case it turned out the innocent oupa was not so innocent and that he had a tendency to swing his fists in settling an argument and that witnesses came forward to state that the oupa swung his fists at the cyclists. Wonder if he was on holiday in Cape Town recently.
  22. Military aircraft normally do not appear on FR. It would be safe to assume that it is not a civilian aircraft and most propably some form of either military or some Government chartered flight.
  23. https://www.flightradar24.com/R3DNO53/2662dc09
  24. Hooting to caution and then stopping. All indications are there is so much info not mentioned in that post. No way I can make any assumption of what really went down. The first picture is three cyclists riding behind one another. Moving on.
