Hi Matt
Unfortunately the review from Throttles is about the initial sale issue he had with the person and it is not related to the listing of the Spez gravel bike with tampered pictures, which is a 2nd instance now. So I would think a 2nd instance justifies a 2nd review.
One negative rating on a user can be an anomaly. A 2nd negative review is definitely something more serious that buyers need to be aware of.
100% this
Evobikes has everything you need, which may be as little as:
New front ring, to bolt onto your current crank set ...
Cassette of your choice ... would recommend an 11 speed, full range for minimal cost
New derailure and trigger
About a 1 hour job
Don’t forget a chain, and if you coming from 3x you will most likely need shorter chainring bolts
Wouldn’t that just be downhill but with extra steps?
Isn’t that exactly what enduro is?
Why don’t they just give us lightweight dual crown forks for enduro already? While they at it they can give it a better name than Zeb...
Nope, but got the bike back
Dang, you waited 5 months odd to come back with that
We need a few details to try and help:
Wheel size?
Axle type?
V Brake / disc mount?
Hey Zaskar,
Wheels are 26”, axle is QR, disk brake mount would be awesome but I can run v brake on this build as well
I know a guy!
He is a hub user but not a forum poster.
Maybe PM me and I will send you his deets...
Awesome, PM sent!
Cantact this seller. He brings in carbon wheels, frames, bars and forks. He might be able to bring one in for you. He definitely has/had straight steerer 29” qr forks not to long ago. Maybe his (Chinese) supplier Has a 26” version too.
Edit Worst case id compare A-C numbers of some gravel bike forks? Should Be around 400mm so not too far off.
Thanks! I will check him out
Does anyone have a rigid straight steerer fork lying around? Looking to finish a single speed build from old parts and can’t find one anywhere.
Willing to pay, doesn’t have to be fancy, can be clapped out.
So I’m bringing this thread back to life. Seems like there was no answer to this in 2014 but I guess I will try my luck anyway.
I am looking for a 26” rigid fork with a straight steerer for a single speed build from all my old parts. Would be nice to have disk brake mounts but I’m happy with rim brake mounts or even no brake mounts at all.
Anyone have an idea on where I would be able to find something?
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help: my friends want to ride in ~Durbanville tomorrow (I live in Durbanville).
Most of them are club members, but potentially two of them aren't.
They're most interested in Hoogekraal and Contermanskloof trails.
Does anyone know if those trails (unlike the rest of the network) allow for day passes?
Currently the club's newsletters say that trails are only open to club members, but I'm hoping Conties and Hoogies are exceptions to this rule.
Exert from the mail sent out by the club this past Friday:
Further note, that currently still NO day visitors are allowed on any of our trails, and also that Meerendal remains closed / unavailable at this time.
Sucks for me too, I still get the mails but aren’t a member anymore...don’t want to go buy a years membership now either, firstly times are tight with Covid thingy going on and secondly, what if we get pushed back to level 4 for most of the rest of the year, then it will be an absolute waste...
Nice !
I've ordered some Ciovita masks, hopefully they work because all the other masks including a Buff feels like I am being suffocated at the start, the water boarded 10mins into the ride.
I'll post my experience with them once they arrive.
Have you received your masks yet? Keen to know what they are like

Edit: One from behind. After I took this pic I adjusted the B screw so the chain tension is better.

Hi All, after many years I am back in the saddle! just sold my 1995 Edge Quickshift which lasted all these years! now am the proud owner of a Silverback Spectra Sport.Lots has changed since 1995, but I cant seem to figure out how to raise the bars; i am 1.83m so when i have the saddle height correct the bars are too low. Doesnt seem to be any adjustment on the steering head,Any ideas?
Regards
Charlie
Hi Charlie,
Are there any spacers on top of the stem? If there are, remove the stem, place the spacers underneath it and fit it all back together. Otherwise, if the steerer tube of the fork has been cut down and there is no area for spacers you will need to look at getting a set of riser bars
Toying with the idea of building up an Evo.
How are you guys/girls finding your Evo's?
Based on this thread it doesn’t look like anyone actually has one...
After doing a lot of research and driving around I got a good deal on a end season sale on a 2019 Scott Spark 940 a great upgrade from Tampico although I'm still a newbie the bug bit hard
Nice bike man, enjoy!
We have just completed the upgrade from 3x9 to 1x11.
As it was a Shimano freehub, I was able to slip on the 11 speed Sunrace
To ensure a nice wide range we opted for the 11x50 Sunrace cassette.
It also meant getting a new shifter and derailure. Cheapest would have been an upgrade kit, but my local bike shop advised me to get the Shimano XT shifter and derailure, paired with the Sunrace cassette. It was only a few rand more expensive.
We were advised to keep the chain as long as possible, so that the hanger just clears when on the small gear at the back -
Worth noting (as in the last picture) that on the very large cogg the hanger is NOT stretched far forward .... try to avoid excessive strain on the hanger ....
It WORKS very nicely
It took some handtools and elbow-grease to finish off the 3x crank to fit the single ring neatly ...
And this is what the final product looks like
The finishing touch to that 3 x crank looks really good! Thinking I should try something like that on mine
8/9/10/11 all fit on the same shimano freebody.
mtb cassettes are not the same as road ones if you are googling an answer itv spacing.
Except SRAM and e-13 11 speed cassettes, they require an XD driver. Shimano and Sunrace 11 speed fits the standard driver your 10 speed is on
Specialized in Stellenbosch seems to have a decent amount of stock, they come in black with white "side soles" or screaming orange. They retail for R2160, but they are currently on 25% off, so decided to pull the trigger.
Thanks Jako, at 25% off maybe it's time I bite the bullet as well

Just watch out with this, it is my understanding an oval 34t will be the same size as a round 36t in places.
So if the frames max is 34t then an oval 32t would work but an oval 34t would be too big
