  1. Which so many people b*ich about because of the weight, so now you have the same benefit with less of a weight penalty and more gains in other prtions of the course, kinda makes sense, no?
  2. Oh yeah, forgot to mention. In the Norba series the privateer bike of choice is the 29'er and they have racked up a few wins. Another rather interesting little aside: Specialized fought to try and have the 29'er made illegal, when that failed they then went into sneaky prototyping to make 1 for Philip Mearhagge (sp), he did get bust just after that for doping so they had no way to unleash it onto international racing circuit, the project then got shelved for 2 years as I recall.
  3. Hmm, at some point on a climb (if you're riding a mtb race that is) you might find a bump or 2, it's here that the 29'er starts to give you a hand. It smooths those bumps out that little bit better, which helps to keep your rear wheel in contact with the ground, which then in turn makes sure that more of your power is going through the rear wheel and propelling you forward.
  4. In my opinion it does, I've seen noticeable improvements over the same courses. It rides better generally.
  5. Glad to hear it.
  6. So, you lot gonna stick uit tomorrow morning? See you all there.
  7. Matbe try the Kenda Nevegal? Haven't seen a Stout in this country yet, I'm afraid.
  8. Is that a Sword? And is that the biggest gear in the world ever? So, are we seeing you on Friday morning?
  9. It's not empirical or anything but I do have fewer incidents when I ride like that by myself.
  10. What could possibly take time? There's nothing on the damn thing.
  11. If you're descending and meet a guy climbing and there is no way to go; past then you yield, learn the rules, try not to be a ponce.
  12. The climber has right of way, always has, always will, he was probably a roadie and didn't know any better. This rule does not apply in racing however, the leader has right of way whilst racing, and the roadies seem to stuff this up as well.
  13. That's the spirit, and who knows you might even have some fun accidentally.

Been using the nightlightnings for a while www.nightlightning.co.nz and there's a local guy as well.
  16. Just to give you lot a bit of the vibe.
  17. That's all nice and everything, what about people like me that ride to work everyday, I try to use the cycle lanes I stick the road rules, I have altercations with the fine feathered drivers on the road every single day. I don't belong to a club and neither do the motorists, who do I report him to? Who cares?
  18. The time has come again my fine feathered folk, we?ve been going for 7 months now, it all started on a dark and stormy night, well actually it was a dark and stormy morning, the weather she is much better nowadays but the message doesn?t change.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Anyway, you all know what it?s about if not check it out here: http://www.critical-mass.org/ and here http://criticalmass.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_rides Date for the next one is set at 27 Feb 2009 (aka. This coming Friday). There are 2 meeting points: 6:40 (AM) at the Baxter and 7:15 (AM) at the CTICC, early, I know but I have a job I need to ride to as do a few others. Normal ride plans: 6:45 departure from Baxter, ride down to Liesbeek and along Lower Main into town and to the CTICC, pick up the town side mass?ers and head through the Waterfront, along Beach road to Sea Point at Glengarriff we head up to Green Point Main road and back from where we can all scatter to our various places of employment. Some peeps may stop for coffee at Miss K (large outside area for the bikes), if only we had a contact there that could let them know we might be stopping? We?re gathering a bit of a following which in time will attract more attention (some good, some bad) so I?m gonna have to ask the boys to try and obey the laws of the road most importantly the stopping at lights thing and also to try and keep the group a bit tighter, spread out along the road isn?t what we?re after we want a nice tight mass. Another thing, dress code, no racing lycra unless it?s super nasty and super retro! What bike to bring? Bring the bike you?ll ride, that?s it. Now, homework, everyone bring as many people as you can! See you all this Friday.
  19. Been out of it for a bit but what for? What is this alledged poo that is raining down and from whence does it emanate?
  20. If all goes well I'll be race test a Scandal 29'er at the Argus mtb, let you all know what I thought then.
  21. Did you just try and help yourself to some of my tires?
  22. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=41977&KW=Critical+Mass&PID=663522#663522 And for the ill informed and hard of reading or selective memorists.
  23. I don't want media attention! All that's gonna do is show a bunch of hooligans riding around like they don't care, screw that, what I want is for the motorists to see a group of people commuting together, to show that it's a viable option. And it's not a damn protest or a rebel ride or anything like that, anytime those words get used it brings with it visions of actual protests which leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. You'll all know when it is.
