  1. You all want to do something and make a noise about how you want to do something, I've been trying to get a Critical Mass going for about 6 months now, how many of you have bothered pitching, I could probably name all of you individually and it wouldn't be a long list. It's a small start but it is a start. Ante in and join us and hey you may realise that bikes are fun.
  2. Bit of a retarded idea if you have to actually ride them. Nino lost a world championships on those things a few years ago.
  3. That thing is enormous! What the hell!
  4. Had a nice CM ride this morning, about 25-30 people, slightly down on the numbers from last year but hopefully we can get the people interested again. Will post pics when I have 'em.
  5. The obligatory late afternoon bump. See you all in the morning.
  6. They normally end up on www.thedailyfix.co.za but will try to get some up here as well. Later.
  7. Have 2 light setups. 1 Nightlightning iBlaast for the head and 1 Niterider Moab for the bar. The Nightlightning is lighter and new than the Moab, also a little bit brighter, together the system is awesome though.
  8. Yip, bright and early, be good to get another decent turnout, think the fixie fiends will probably pitch, not so sure about the roadies, they seem more intent on moaning about it than doing anything, oh well, apathy is a wonderful thing.
  9. Hello to the fine posse of activist reprobates.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> A new year has dawned and the fight against the evils of modern society must continue, the infidels must learn (I?m wondering if the CIA spy ware will flag this and we?ll get a decent escort for our ride?). Anyway, you all know what it?s about if not check it out here: http://www.critical-mass.org/ and here http://criticalmass.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_rides Date for the next one is set at 30 Jan 2009 (aka. This Friday). There are 2 meeting points: 6:40 (AM) at the Baxter and 7:15 (AM) at the CTICC, early, I know but I have a job I need to ride to as do a few others. Normal ride plans: 6:45 departure from Baxter, ride down to Liesbeek and along Lower Main into town and to the CTICC, pick up the town side mass?ers and head through the Waterfront, along Beach road to Sea Point at Glengarriff we head up to Green Point Main road and back from where we can all scatter to our various places of employment. Some peeps may stop for coffee at Miss K (large outside area for the bikes). We?re gathering a bit of a following which in time will attract more attention (some good, some bad) so I?m gonna have to ask the boys to try and obey the laws of the road most importantly the stopping at lights thing and also to try and keep the group a bit tighter, spread out along the road isn?t what we?re after we want a nice tight mass. Another thing, dress code, no racing lycra unless it?s super nasty and super retro! What bike to bring? Bring the bike you?ll ride, that?s it. Now, homework, everyone bring as many people as you can! See you all Friday.
  10. Yeah, with you on this SwissVan. Always used to be that the first person you needed to beat was the guy in the same jersey as yours, then you worry about the rest.
  11. Yeah Bucks, stop bitching, they're not that bad!
  12. Normally it would ahve cost you R300 to register and R70 per race (*7), so it woulda cost you R790 anyway? If it's run properly I'm happy to pay the extra, add into that the media coverage allowing for more leverage with spoonsors. Step in the right direction.
  13. Fox say you must use their fork oil, it's super thick so guessing 15 maybe higher?
  14. Indeed! Tyre was the most fun I'd had on table mountain for a while, well until I crashed because they slip and slide all over the damn place, and if it's a little damp they're even more exciting! --That being said they were pretty awesome at Trans Baviaans 2 years ago, in the dry, ridiculously fast, until I slashed the rear side wall coming down berg plaas, which incidentally was also super exciting with no control!TitusTi2009-01-12 08:27:03
  15. Hmm, spoken like a roadie.
  16. it's noticeable.
  17. Rolls over objects better, more stable, fits 6 foot 3 monkeys better.

If you're tall enough a 29'er would offer significant benefits' date=' and it opens up a whole range of other bikes other than the standard tupperware factory bikes.[/quote'] I am 6'2. What other bikes? I like the 29er concept, never ridden one but read good things. 29'ers available here at the moment include: Niner, OnOne, Orbea, Cannondale, Titus, Pivot, Specialized, Gary Fisher. I think there are a few others as well but can't really remember right now, so you'll have the choice of boutique and mass produced in there.

  20. I wish I'd never brought up the Dutch! It works in other places too. But yeah, I also want to be able to commute on dedicated lanes, now I fight with soccer moms hell bent on killing you with their silver death wagons, sometimes I'm not sure if they're better or worse than the taxi's!
  21. Isolated explanation for a common occurence.
